well, that is why asw added the hs bar under the combo counter on p4u, im not gonna be surprised if it ends as a staple part of their GUI on their next games
also, as i said, that is why you need to know what level of hs/bs is your attack (on GG or BB at least) or if said attack adds untechable time, you can get the idea of what it can be comboed after some time with the games
just because you dont like it, it doesnt mean that is bad, just saying
Even though this thread devolving into comic story talk is kinda sad, I’m totally going to be a hypocrite and contribute to it.
Marvel’s power grid is horse shit.
Even the ratings based on objective measurement, like Strength and pre-7 Speed, are fuzzy based entirely on what a particular Marvel writer wants to see happen. This isn’t even getting to the stupidity of how Energy Projection and Fighting are rated (more fighting styles = better fighter, according to Marvel).
Firelord is beyond the scope of someone in class 20 though not to mention heralds are held in high esteem and are often used a measuring stick in terms of power. Considering how fast, strong and durable a herald is there is no way spidey should have even lasted a few minutes against a properly written firelord…it would be like cap taking getting a KO on thor with just pure h2h.
Anyways to keep on track with the game I dont really like all the new looks but I suspect NR will probably release alternate classic looks. I wonder how the music will be though and if there will be any attempt to recreate some iconic tunes.
Edit: I dont really mind the rules of sexy, most outfits are not realistic to begin with so I never got why slutty outfits were such a big deal for so long. Harley looks decent, her old looks better just due to it being a classic look but the slutty version is sweet too.
IMO they are just SLIGHT redesigns of how they look in the New 52. Flash and Batman are basically wearing armor in the new 52. I also like that they kept how the speed force glows in lines across flashes body like in the new 52 as well. Batmans mask seems pretty different but if this game is any good it will have several alts.
While the costumes are segmented, they are hardly “armor”. besides the built in knee pads and solid-er appearing utility belts, it’s all still pretty flexible. batman has forearm guars, but he’s always had those.
I:GAU however shows batman with metal plates ON HIS EYEBROWS. Why? And his cape is coming out of his chest. HIS CHEST! Even the way they did the horns is bothering me.
And I don’t think we even need to get started on harley. Why does everything need to be all gritty and just wind up being dumb. What happened to good old TAS harley? Sure, she looked ridiculous, but that’s what superheroes and supervillains do. magneto has underwear over his spandex, he’s still a badass. What’s wrong with keeping the designs close to classic? Capcom did it, and it turned out fine.
I will concede the point that Flash is in a segmented suit not armor, but Both Batman and Superman are. Superman literally described his suit as armor in one of his comics i read the other day, (Cant remember if it was Action Comics or Superman), and Batman has always been in armor anyway, he just doesnt quite hide it like he used to. Wonder woman looks pretty similar too.
As for the eyebrows…yeah who knows, maybe they were just looking for a way to tweak it and make it their own,
As i said before, I am sure there will be alts and i’d bet money those alternate costumes will be the classics, I think they decided to play with the costumes to better fit the storyline that these AREN’T our classic heroes, but a more villainous twist on them. I think this game will have the best of both worlds by having new visions on the characters as well as catering to the old. I’m still hyped.
I was, however, disappointed that they didn’t reveal any new characters. I guess they still have a lot of work to do on them. It is a year or so away.
Also i loved how the background stages were reacting to every move that a character did. This is going to be great
In a separate thread and acuatlly talk about the game and what characters were hyped for to play with out of the DC Universe. Boon said around 20 and wants DLC.
Yeah, but it wasn’t a straight up fight, Spidey hit him from the side before he could react. I don’t know how durable firelord is, but being hit that hard and fast as many times as he was in that short a period, it doesn’t seem unlikely for him, or at least any other hero I know, to get knocked out for a minute. I don’t know, Super hero’s power levels like to change from generation to generation. Maybe I’m picturing a different Spider-man and Firelord than you are.
And I kinda like new outfits. These ones, sure some don’t fit what’s been done before, but they aren’t offensive. Let me get that New 52 Starfire
so to go somewhere different, going on the assumption the systems will be based on MK9, how would you tweak them to make them either better or more superhero-y?
Oh yeah; a Grundy or Superman hit shouldn’t just kind of pop you and make you float a little bit, it totally needs punches that pack a punch (pun intended)
It's not in my prior question, but I've gotta say I hope they rework some of those stage transition hits. I think we're all gonna get tired of that 'knocked through 4 walls in a 10 second animation sequence' deals.
I think Harley should fight with Henchmen. Maybe people in tattered Arkham Asylum prisoner outfits. Maybe have some of those big ol’ monster henchmen from the latest Batman games (don’t know if they’ve appeared before). And for her Super, I think she should jump her opponent with, like, 100 henchmen, have them stopping the person out while she laughs maniacally before firing a rocket into the center, injuring you and all of the henchmen she sent after you. Hows that for a Cinematic Super? Oh, maybe they should be like Blazblue, cinematic Supers that can only be used to finish off an opponent? That would make the Superman-astro-punch less of an issue, because it’s the final attack.
That’s really number one issue I had with games that use meter combo breaker.
EX is a good because it’s spends only a bar, and it’s a cheap. Supers that cost too much end up be unviable because stock piling combo breakers is too good.
It’s the same thing I never liked Mega Crash because a lot of characters in TVC ended having meterless that do more damage than supers. Thanks to a insanely good FRC mechanic(baroque), you had no reason to really use super other than 3 bars. It got even dumber when they made Level 3 basically had less use than mega crash and baroque. TVC isn’t a bad game but I just don’t like that decision at all…
I tend to think it’s good to make supers actually quite rare. It means you can make them flashier and they keep more ‘punch’ than they would if people were throwing them out three times a match.
In skilled MK9 somebody hitting an X-ray is a really big deal, whereas an ultra hit in SF4 is largely ho-hum.
