Is there a sixth button or are there only 5?
Are combos mainly chained or are there links like streetfighter?
So far who are the best and worst characters?
I’m hoping Flash and Bane are capable of doing well competitively.
I couldn’t tell you, but I’m assuming it uses whatever MK9 used.
The game’s not out so who knows? If I had to say who looked strongest, I’d say Batman and Cyborg; and for weakest I’d say either Harley or Bane (who we haven’t seen enough of). It’ll take time to say for certain who’s good and who’s not. After all, when P4A came out Kenji was top tier and Naoto was bottom and they’ve pretty switched spots now.
Thanks for your help I know that tiers are uncertain since the games not even out yet. I was just curious of first impressions from anyone that may have had from playing the demo .
Flash was considered very good (nigh on broken) in some of the earlier builds. It’s likely he’ll remain strong at release unless they nerfed him to hell. Green Arrow has been citied as pretty boss too. Batman is regarded as a complete character (imo from what I’ve seen he’s like the Ryu of the game - the go to character, but others have also said he’s like Kung Lao from MK in that he has all the tools necessary)
Harely Quinn I think will initially be low tier only because her trait button is a random attack. Nothing else seems to scream low tier though and this is not in any way to say she’s the worst. It’s just something to consider as an overall factor (personally I think she’s fine from the footage released and traits in this game are, so far, hardly game breaking either)
The general word on the street is, most of the characters all viable and nuanced (no clones). Rush down characters and Zoning characters are very strong in this game apparently, which means they’ve got a good mix of play styles and nothing seems to be too cheesy: projectile attacks have good damage but a lot of recovery for instance.
Not much on Bane right now, but from what has been released in pax interviews etc all the grapplers play differently and the only one to come out slightly negative is Grundy in terms of his speed (he might be a little too slow), but that might just be people gassing. You know when non-grappler players call out a grappler character for being slow, doesn’t mean he’s that slow.
Also, NRS has gone on record saying if balance changes are required, they’re looking to buff characters instead of nerfing, which is a good approach imo.
Other random things you may have missed and that I can remember:
In-game frame data: start up, recovery, advantage on hit and block.
Record CPU in training mode
Hits actually trade in this game. No random priority bs.
stage transitions do around 25% damage (almost as much as a super but for less meter)
Some Supers can be combo’d into and some can be combo’d out of.
Interactables/environmental attacks can be turned off.
Push block exists at the cost of 1 bar of meter
Clash system can only be done when both players are on their last energy bar. Whoever wages more meter does approx 30% damage to opponent. (imo I think this system is kinda crap but w/e)
There are 5 buttons, but i think that i read some where that you use a 6th button to do the supers like MK with L2 and R2, but don’t quote me on anything
It has the same system of MK9 where you use target combos, but it is more than probable that some links will be found, it happens on all the games despite if it has chains or not.
To soon to tell, at different points many chars look strong and with good tools, like GA, BA, Bat, DS, etc.
But as history has shown us before, those who seem strong at first not necessarily end as the stronger characters at the end.
There is so much that we don’t know about the game, its mechanics, the characters that saying who is strong or not more than a wild mass guessing.
Right now, all the chars seem to have good tools on paper, we will only know after a good amount of time of play
Tasky’s on my main team in Marvel too, but I think it’s too early to say who’s an equivalent to him in this game. If I’m forced, I’d say Deathstroke because it looks like a few of his command normals can lead to big combos, and he’s got a simple but effective zoning strategy (just like Taskmaster), but I haven’t seen nearly enough from him to validate that.
Voted Batman and Superman, got the dynamic theme since I got the Arrow DLC last time. Got entered again into the OMEGA PACK of DC swag. I actually want the swag…
Season Pass is available on Launch right? Might get a PSN Card when I go to pick up my title if so, since you get the Flashpoint outfits right away and I wouldn’t have to worry about the characters down the road.
