Which makes no sense because NRS has never been that irresponsible with their plots. About the closest they came to it was having Sindel wreck half the entire cast near the end of MK9, but like Rage in MKvDC at least they bothered to provide an explanation.
- The linque soften the cast. 2. Sindel aint no push over

I always found the worst offender in the game was Stryker’s defeat of Ermac, he was portrayed as such a beast in that game that even stryker’s new bad@$$ level didn’t seem to be enough, and unlike Sindel (which I didn’t mind, it added to why Liu was so pissed off, he was the only one strong enough to fight that level of opponent without blowing himself up, and Raiden descided to take him on a field trip and leave the others unprotected )they didn’t explain it. That and Kung Lao beating the deadly alliance alone, when in the original timeline he couldn’t beat Tsung alone (granted he had the soulnado at the time so I can buy him beating Tsung on his own in mk9, but both…).
Otherwise I ignored any inconsistency in regards to who beat who, as I enjoyed the story enough to ignore it. Which will probably be the case in this game, there will be a couple of fights that despite whatever explanation won’t make sense (like in mkvsdc how Wonderwoman openly said she wasn’t affected by the magic power swap, which would mean she could still wreck the Mortal Kombat side). People will complain about them, but in the end probably get over it because the story is fun, though I think it will be a little worse than mk9 do to the added amount of comic fans that will be eyeing the story.
Uh huh…keep believing that one junior.
Either Captain Marvel/Shazam or Black Adam is gonna be my main depending on which one makes it in.If they arent in then Lex main and Superman secondary.
Other characters I would like to see:
-Martian Manhunter
-Aquaman
-Sinestro
-Captain Cold
-Zatanna
I really wish we’d see more Wonder Woman. I have a feeling (from the 5 minutes total of footage we’ve seen of her) that she’d be beastly in Injustice. I remember seeing a vid showing her bracelet parry and it looked reaaaaaaaaaaaaally fast.
Well, I think there’s a difference between a story that fails to explain itself and a story that’s just bullshit. MK9 suffered (in many places) from being just plain bullshit. It frequently subscribed to that old dbz addage of if something terrible happened to someone seconds before, you transform into fighting jesus. Like, you mention Stryker beating Ermac, but you may have forgotten right before that he beats Kintaro single handedly and thats after Kintaro one shotted Kabal (although they at least kind of mention Kabal got substantially stronger once he got rebuilt in Outworld). Then again, even in the original canon Stryker was literally the only soul on Earth Shao Kahn didn’t just insta-collect when he invaded. Given he vanished from MK3 - A, maybe Netherrealm just always intended for him to be some super bad ass.
I could suspend disbelief with the Kintaro thing, but that is because the shokans always lost, so seeing a heavily armed character who had just established himself as a bad@$$ also beat one wasn’t hard to believe. Ermac on the other hand one shotted a character that should be around Stryker’s equal, and had just effortlessly thrown Stryker across a street and down a subway tunnel before the fight, most inconsistencies were explained, that wasn’t.
This ones easy Shang Tsung in DA had a bigger soul buff. As you see in both fights against Kung Lao and Raiden. Shang Tsung from that timeline used the soulnado he had present. Basically because he won because of environment it was like fighting Dorm or Shuma in their respective realm. As for Mk9 in that storyline all the bad guys are Jobbers they are there to be beat because there not playable so you’ll never beat anyone with them. By default it makes all Villains in the storyline save for Sindel in a lower power tier.
Also
everyone gets shot
I mentioned the Soulnado, and that Kung Lao could probably take Tsung alone, but together I feel they are too much. The Jobber aura is actually what bugged me about the Ermac thing, as despite losing, he was one of the few who ignored it for the most part, as he always did something impressive before he did to balance it out and aside from stryker taking on really high ranking opponents.
But I digress maybe I’m the only one those fights bugged and I don’t want to derail the thread. My point is that if Injustice has an engrossing enough story, that aside from a few contentious battles (you know the fights that have been debated by comic fans forever and no result would satisfy everyone) most people won’t care about who manages to beat who.
Stryker beating Ermac pissed me off so much. The guy to ripped Jax arms and owned Johnny Cage for free jobbing to Stryker? The bloody hell. It doesn’t help Stryker was in two back to back fights before then. Cena must have been giving me no sell tips
Ermac was always thought of as a bad@$$ among MK circles (after all he took on 5 characters at once in canon, while trying not to hurt them). It only got worse with MK 9 in my eyes. First appearance consists at pretty much everyone terrified at his presence and commenting on how awesome he is, next appearence he rips of Jax’s arms, third appearance he beats up Cage, fourth appearance he throws Stryker like a rag doll , last appearance he throw’s an entire platoon like a ragdoll. He is one of the few villains who came out looking good, along with Kahn, Sindel, Scorpion (if he counts) Quan Chi (when it comes to planning) and oddly enough Reptile, as his fight with Stryker made him MK’s first bullet timer (which could be extended to Kabal, as he is portrayed as the fastest member of the cast).
I hope the villains in injustice get a more fair portrayal in general, maybe give equal time for the villain perspective.
Hell off topic but fuck it, in the next MK I really hope they bring up Reptile not being too bad a guy when ti comes down to it. he’s been doing all this shit for Kahn and Shang so his people could survive and when Kahn finally killed them all cept him too try and find a way to bring them back.
As far as story goes did’nt netherealm say it was there take on the DC universe. Thats why the costumes and things are different right?.. So I’m thinking they can do whatever the hell they want, why should catwoman not be able to slap the mess out superman.
Ermac should be a boss character…like the dude has a better track record then the main villains and he held off main cast of heros on his own while the DA needed magic amps to do it.
As for villains jobbing in the MK universe, well unfortunately its a tradition:

Someone tell me how the fuck reptile lost that. He was beasting for 90% of the fight then 1 throw knocks him out lol…thats almost on the level of goku killing broly with the plot device punch nonsense.
imo, that was MK9s story modes biggest failure. Since none of the villains had actual chapters to themselves, there was simply no way to look at them as anything more than punching bags. They’d all show up by tearing someone’s arms off or burning someone to death or dodging bullets but then a quick bout of fisticuffs later the heroes walk away unscathed. MKvDC did a much better job of spreading the wealth since the defeats seemed more situational based on the plot and not just foregone conclusions.
Here’s hoping Injustice (either by way of story mode, or mission mode) does a way better job of fleshing out the bad guys.
Well they did explain it… but that was in a deleted scene.
Also it wasn’t as one sided as you say.
surely at least the joker will have his own chapter
Got a link? Or is it lost in the Ether like Gambol’s death in Dark Knight?
I totally agree on both points, for the first it’s one of Ermac’s trademarks. He was probably the best revamp for a character in the 3d games in my opinion, and his quest for redemption with Liu Kang worked well in my eyes. Speaking of Kang I really liked his character arc in MK9, I actually kind of hope he survived the electrocution by Raiden, would leave much more potential than just having him be another dead guy in the Netherealm, having Raiden try to recruit him to help fight Shinnok would lead to some interesting interaction between the two.
Also gives a chance for some of the villains to shine, as this time outworld might be a target to, giving them motivation to fight against Shinnok. Maybe this can be the way to get some villain chapters.
Back on topic to injustice I really just want to see Deathstroke win a fight this time.
