Lex isn’t a trained fighter and historically works behind the scenes. It’s like saying why isn’t Mary Jane a fighter in UMVC3.
Mary Jane would have been hype! Also I don’t remember Iron man being trained for combat.
Except he actually IS trained in Hand to Hand though he’s not a martial arts savant like Nightwing and Batman…but that doesn’t matter. Supes wasn’t trained in hand to hand either and yet he got by just fine due to his power. Lex has his suit.
I wanted J Jonah Jameson in UMvC3, not gonna lie
Crime Alley
Clark did actually get training at some point before the new 52 in kryptonian H2H combat. I forget who it was against but he used precision pressure point strikes and disarmed Diana who attacked him with a magic sword I think. I don’t remember Luther ever being stated as to have received training at some point?
That’s a misleading comparison, Mary Jane never actually fought any villains that I can remember, Lex Luthor gets into fights with Superman pretty regularly. He works behind the scenes but he is occasionally backed into a corner, and in that instance it is in character to bring out the battlesuit.
On a similar note , I figured out why I am not pumped for Lex myself, the reason for that is because he was a foregone conclusion to be in from the start, so it feels like a reconfirm instead of a new reveal. That said when his (and Bane’s) gameplay pops up my hype levels should restore,as that will be new.
He has (or had, don’t know what’s going on in New 52) Amazon trainers that train him in fighting. Through their opinion, he isn’t exactly going to be making Gotham fighters look silly but he’s capable enough to at least hold his own. He has fought both Nightwing and Batman, he obviously didn’t defeat them but the fact that he didn’t walk out of the fights crippled without the suit is a good sign. The suit will make up any difference short of Darkseid showing up.
Didn’t NRS say that there was going to be more content in this game than MK9? If true, I’m nothing but hyped for all these reveals! I really don’t see how there won’t be plenty of non-Batman characters to flesh out the cast. And given how popular Batman and his rogues are, I’m not shocked that we’re seeing a lot of them.
Here’s how I see it: Even if Injustice only matched MK9’s roster, and 1/3 of the cast were Batman characters, there would still be about 20+ of them left! My money is on a growing flood of reveals leading up to release. The bat-torrent will slow down, just watch.
Spoiler
Starling for DLC character plz.
Mary Jane can handle herself. Captain America taught her self-defense and she’s taken down un-powered villains like the Chameleon.
I stand corrected she has taken down some villains.
I’ll be more interested in seeing how different Bane playstyle is than Solomon Grundy. We all know Grundy’s unique attack has something to do with linking throws. What we have read so far seems to be that Bane’s unique attack will have something to do with the Venom serum that he injects himself with. Will this basically make his attacks that much stronger? Will it have any effects on his throws? Will it give his moves EX like priorities?
I’m hoping that NRS has at least ironed out differences between him and Grundy cause I sure as hell do not want one of them to become pretty much worthless because of the other. And if you know NRS and their previous incarnations, grapplers have never been a kind of character they ever got right. It’s actually a joke how they’ve never had one good representative of the style.
Anyway, let’s hope for some video trailers of both the new characters soon.
I hope Bane is more akin to Ralf or Clark from KoF rather than a Zangief. I think a Ralf “strike” grappler would work perfectly in this game. Add in a speed/damage/defense boosting mechanic and you’ve already got a nice recipe for “some cheap shit”. Hopefully NRS picks up on this and doesn’t put that to waste.

YES! Finally another character I actually want, Bane, someone with some kind of power. Lex is in his battle suit which is also good.

Lex Luthor looks like Bruce Willis.

That’s what I’m hoping as well. He should be the Alex to Grundy’s Hugo, the King to Grundy’s Craig Marduk, etc.
In all current builds Grundy has almost zero mobility and his only option is grappling. He doesn’t have any dashing moves, doesn’t have any air mobility and no projectile. His sole zoning option is the stomp, which I think was full screen unblockable as of the last show, but his gimmick button and all his moves (except for a the knife spin thing) are basically capcom style (non blockable) command grabs. Even his super is a Shuma Gorath style grapple “mode” which obviously has no long range or combo application.
I would wager if there’s a comparison to be made it will be Sheeva and Jax, Sheeva who is more conventional grappler (though she was way more mobile than Grundy) and Jax who had a very nice range game and great rush down options. If Bane’s venom buff has anything to do with speed and not just a strength buff like supes, he is definitely going to be more Jax.
Grundy does have a projectile. He can throw the knifes stuck on his back
Holy crap…HEAVY discussion going on here in the SRK forums for this game!
If you guys want to take a look for yourselves or even contribute to the discussions, below is the link for the Injustice forum section on TestYourMight.com Lots of different topics and even sections separated by different characters.
Post contains spoilers on the story and possibly the next characters to be revealed
I’m still pissed of lex is in the game…I know I should just get over it but I have 1 piece of evidence that might convince you guys why lex is a bad choice:)
