They changed everything charming and what made her popular to turn her into a slutty psycho masochist #2. They also ruined her outfit by slutting it up when it never lacked any sexy to begin with.

Apparently, some new villain skins Joker’s face and for a while it was rumored Joker was dead. The Joker has since returned, his face now held on with a belt tied around his head. He mentioned something about his pain receptors being dead, so he managed to beat Red Hood and Harley.
That’s not her new costume.

I don’t mind the slut meter and in fact I think people overhyped starfire and harley so called"terrible portrayal".
Lots of characters changed coming into the new 52 and harley and starfire are no exception. I’ve read every issue of redhood and suicide squad and I found the outrage to their outfits completely uncalled for and silly. People freak over tits and ass like its 1950, and besides most characters in the new 52 are younger versions that are all fit and attractive.
Harley outfit looks like ass. And doesn’t make any sense for her character as she was jester based. I’m usually theguy in favor of edgy stuff like sex in comics but this is just bad writing.
They completely changed characters personalities to fit whatever BS storyline is when I get pissed. Harley is a totally different character now and THAT’S why people aren’t happy about changes.
Characters being younger is a lazy copout that they are falling back on to excuse unnessary changes to DC’s history and bad characterisation.
Like I said earlier normally I’m fine with edgy and even defended Starfire in this very thread but Harley Quinn Tim Drake and other character have gotten nothing but worse inthe new 52.
While I’m on the topic I applaud DC for improving characters like Steve Trevor, Aquaman, Cyborg, and Animal Man. But they did it at the expense of many beloved classic characters.
Teen Titans is a mess, Harley’s might as well be another character, Batgirl is a regression from Oracle imo, Martian Manhunter is no long in the league and is against the JL???
UGH!!! New 52 has brought in new readers but made longtime fans suffer.
I don’t care about how they dress, I just don’t like the idea of changing a strong respectable female character into some bimbo that goes after dicks like she needs them.

That’s just the nature of reboots though and drastic changes are almost always a aspect of reboots on this big of a scale. I’m personally not happy about some redesigns and personality switches or in some cases the oritentation or ethniticies being completely changed…but we all know this a typical effect of rebooting franchises/characters. Personally I don’t mind how starfire or Harley look as long as the writing is sharp and good. I don’t think they are terribly written in the new 52 because I’m lookin at them as new interpretations as opposed to comparing them to their former selfs. I personally think if DC wants to get sexual it should show nudity of these women instead of trying to play on some conversation line of modesty…I’m personally more offended by DC being a big chicken and only walking along the line as opposed to stepping over it.
Do you guys not know what a reboot is? If part of the canon is on the table, all of it is, including the good parts. Sucks when its your character that becomes collateral damage, but jesus you guys act like shitty characters and shitty plot lines never happened before.
If everything was so great and wonderful to begin with, the reboot never would’ve happened so just suck it up and be glad at least your character got brought back.
My favorite characters haven’t been shat on by the reboot, I just don’t like what they did to Harley and Starfire.
And not everything was good but that doesn’t mean you have to change the good things to bad in a reboot.
The problem with this reboot is it’s not a complete reboot. Characters like Harley and Starfire had their personalities and histories completely altered while Hal Jordan and most of the Bat Family remain mostly intact. This reboot is half-assed. It doesn’t help when writers start contradicting their own continuity a year into the fucking thing
The entire thing is a giant mess, both Johns and Morrison were both in long arcs with GL and Batman, and both got there way, and now nothing makes any sense.
And its not even just those two, everyone else keeps changing things for the sake of it, sometimes things that really should not have been changed, like Tim Drake never being Robin.
Slutfire how ever did get much better after the first issue.
As pissed off as you are about nobody’s like Harley and Starfire getting dicked with, just imagine the fallout if they really fucked with a triple a like batman or hal. Remember what happened a few pages ago when I even suggested they kill batman? That’s the kind of non-logic writers have to deal with and why they crave a fresh canvas every now and again.
There isn’t anything wrong with Nu52 that wasn’t already plaguing dc before. We had shitty writing, under developed characters, cliches, and incongruities galore. The only difference is now they aren’t molding with 50 year old untouchable clay.
They already fucked with those character pre-52 though. We already went through a fallout with Hal in the 90s. That nigga should have stayed as the Spectre. Giving Batman a biological son and sticking with it is a huge shake up. It doesn’t the one thing DC wouldn’t want with Batman and that’s age him. Fans accept major changes to the AAA if it doesn’t take a complete 180 on the character without rhyme or reason.

The only rule of fan acceptance is if a change is good it will be accepted, it doesn’t matter if its major or minor. The only hope is that when bad ideas happen, someone can later use it to make something good, ie: the super boy punch (fucking stupid) and red hood (fucking great).
