Do you really need to ask? Time Warners (DC’s parent company) has an excessive history of executive meddling.
Boon continues to swear that WB is a pleasure to work with, and I’m sure the relationship between his studio and WB has only gotten better since they “proved themselves” with MK9.
So, I’m willing to bet that WB/DC is a bit more amiable in this area. And if nothing else, everybody speaks the same language and everybody is on the same “team”, since WB owns NRS and DC alike.
Cyber Akuma said what my response was gonna be, thinking or maybe hoping that WB will give them a ton of slack after MK did so well ><
Ya just kinda free-associating
Edit: On specific things, I’m actually hoping they keep some of the MK elements, I really like them as compared to the traditional stuff… specifically;

Certainly possible. WB brought Rocksteady after Batman: Arkham Asylum became a critical and commercial success and left them alone during development of Arkham City. Still, they probably get their stink on this somehow
The most I can see is that they might put a bit more pressure on seeing certain characters appear in this game more than others. But things like the Bat-family getting plenty of love should go without saying, and similar can probably be said for characters like Blaqualad because he’s in a show that kids stand to be watching on Saturday mornings (and it’s only a matter of time before this game gets advertised during that block on Cartoon Network).
Batman has fought him before and more powerfull people , never. kicked somebody through a building
he wins by tatics , gadgets
my point is Batman beating people he shouldn’t whatever
Batman kicking people through buildings
come on now
might aswell give the flash flight n wonder woman a tank
Well considering the reaction there’s a good chance they’re rethinking that. The “HEY HE COULDN"T DO THAT!” would hardly be unique to SRK
I have far less faith in nm than capcom ,and I that’s low
Damn. If I may ask, why?
Why wouldn’t you?
After watching that trailer…
Harley Quinn…
Gun Launches…
LETS FUCKING GO
Why do people do this? It’s a VIDEO GAME. I find it funny no one ever did this over Marvel games:
“OMFG how can Chun Li beat Dark Phoenix, DP can obliterate universes!”
It’s a game, liberties have to be taken. If the big flashy gimmick of this game is people with crazy powers knocking each other through buildings and stuff, then every character is going to need to be able to do that regardless if it “makes sense” Seriously now, Phoenix Wright CAN’T EVEN FIGHT, no one complains about the fact that ingame he can knock The Hulk like 20 feet up into the air. If games were made entirely on “realism”, it would be boring as Hell, Dark Phoenix wouldn’t even need a team, it would just be “Round 1, Fight!” Dark Phoenix incinerates the entire stage and wins
This applies to noncomic franchises too, if SF and other fighters were based on what the chars could do in canon, one punch from Gouki would probably level the damn stage, Ash Crimson would just steal people’s powers and put them into comas, Kazuya would prolly instakill damn near everyone with a single punch, and Pyron would have just torched the entire planet and then turned it into a ring on his finger. I don’t think anyone would have much fun if they played as Fei Long in SF and died to Gouki in one hit because “it fits the characters.”
Come on now. Plus it’s Batman, they can make some shit up like he used nanomachines to give himself super strength.
For that to happen, they most definitely have to go 2D style for it to work properly.
The game’s characters make it possible for this game to become a major title at tournaments.
I’m really hype for that Boon quote where he mentioned EVO, because at the very least, it could force other major developers like Capcom to actually make an effort for the single game mode of their titles.
I really like the approach of using the solo experience to appeal casual gamers while leaving the combat system towards competition.
Why do you say that? Is it because you like 2d more, or is there another, more compelling reason?
I think you’re breaking it up too much, what most players want isn’t that different at all. (Or to put it another way, the most amazing story in the world wouldn’t keep casuals playing… if they didn’t like the gameplay.)
-Do y’all think that this fighting game is meant to be a competitively fighter or just for casual?
- More likely it is not a new engine just the same one use for MK9
- People who are saying that Batman not able to kick some one Liu-Kang style into the upper parts of a Skyscraper doesn’t realized his wearing a power-suit similar to what he had in the comics so his already peak strength is amplified even greater than it already is.
- They need Green Lantern and Deathstroke
We know two things at this moment. One, that Boon allegedly has tournament players on staff and that this game will have things that make conducive for competitive play as well as casual play. (My guess? You probably can turn “Danger Zones” and Items off in an options menu.)
Two, while the game will be using the same “modified UE3” engine that powered MK9, it won’t play like MK9.
Of course, this is all still early, so we’ll just have to wait 'til next week to get more…
on top of supes, batman, wonder woman, grundy, flash, quinn, and luthor…green lantern, joker, and catwoman are pretty much guaranteed. who else are staples or characters ppl would like to see from the dc universe? i’ve got…
darkseid
doomsday
amazo (!)
supergirl
killer croc
captain atom
shazam
cyborg
nightwing
brainiac
deathstroke
aquaman :wonder:
that’s all i can think of.
edit: oh yeah, penguin, freeze, and robin.
Hinted in the trailer, probably Captain Cold instead of Mr. Freeze.
