Injustice: Gods Among Us; New Game by NetherRealm Studios

The mechanics of the game… god, how dense are you?

na their bad, they are using it wrong!

ie. a brand new game franchise should play just like another established one
This thinking here is why outsiders always call the genre stagnant, jus sayin

xes mentioned colors, I think since they’re going for that dark and gritty vibe(which I LOVE btw), they should do it like this tech demo did:

Lots of contrast, you got your dark rainy streets, but you got your neon glowing signs and streetlights which adds a nice contrast to the overall look and much less of a drab grey vibe to it.

Here’s something i dont understand everytime another fighting game is announced made by another company why is capcom always being brought up. Is it not possible to like fighting games made by more than one company. I see more conversation about how horrible capcom is rather than the damn game itself its fuckin stupid. Capcom is far from perfect and you may not like the games but at the same time no company is perfect and they all have their faults. I may not care too much for mk9 but i appreciate what nrs offers and also what capcom has to offer. Y’all act like capcom killed your family or some shit. smh

Nah, it’s more like people grew up with Capcom games when they used to be good, and now they’ve gone down the shitter. It’s like having a father who was a grand prix race car driver and you looked up to him, and now years later he’s showing up to races drunk off his ass and slamming his car into other racers as they swerve to avoid him, then him giving speeches after races blaming the other drivers for why he drinks.

That and the fact Ed Boon used to be always seen as kinda the guy who makes “those games”, now it’s Capcom instead and Boon is like some Dark Knight Saviour now of fighters. Well him and Harada. Boon gives people what they want(at least in the West): dark and gritty atmospheres, lots of story shit, interesting and badass character designs(no lolis or total goofball shit), and blood/combat with a more visceral feel to it. People like it, he provides it.

That’s totally the thing, I can totally get behind the noir thing, but any good piece of grit is lit by a flickering dayglo neon sign.

Because like it or hate it, Capcom is the standard. They were the ones who brought fighting games to prominence in the 90s, and they ushered in the resurgence of the genre with SF4. It’s like them being Tom Brady or LeBron James, or McDonalds. They’ve had the most success in the genre despite the recent run of bad press they’ve received. And whenever a new Fighting Game is announced, it’s gonna get compared to what Capcom has or is bringing out; ESPECIALLY if Midway/NetherRealm is involved, since people saw MK as the one true contender to Street Fighter’s crown, and still see it that way.

Also, people are still salty over UMvC3 and the mistakes of SFxT. They’ll use any new release of a fighting game to bash Capcom. Gawd help us if KI3 ever gets made…

I feel you ed boon has definitely stepped his game up alot and capcom has been dropping the ball. I hope capcom does get back to making great games like they used to.
But on topic of this game im really interested in seeing how this game will turn out i love comic books so im keeping this on my list of games to watch out for. Only one day i hope we can get a marvel vs dc game.

Superior Limb Based Combat Troll, you’re a semi-decent poster when you want to be. Please stop trolling so hard and getting yourself axed every other week.

it’s all part of the trolling bro

Well said!

The other thing that gets me is that people are trashing this game as a "casual scrub friendly"title due to the interactive stages and what not but seem to forget that every capcom fighter in the last 4 years has been developed with the specific aim of appealing to the casual market with "noob friendly"mechanics intentionally implemented. Capcom’s emphasis on"tournament viable"fighters has eroded quite considerably since the release of SF4 mainly due to them becoming increasingly aggressive with the casual consumer base every time they release a new fighter. SFXT would not have been possible if capcom was intending to create a game with substance and quality as oppose to a immediate cash cow to lure in the casual players.

This isn’t to say MK9 is perfect but given that NR developed MK9 to appeal to the tournament players while SF4 was developed to appeal to the casual players…I’d think that the accusation of"scrub friendly mechanics"would be more in line with capcom at this point in time then anything NR produces. Note I’m not trying to hate on capcom or anything since I do enjoy SF4, but their last 3 games were all intended to appeal to the casual players while MK9 was intended to appeal to the tournament guys so I’m more inclined to trust NR at this point in time…plus SFXT speaks for itself lol.

“Catering to casuals” is one of those things people need to just stop saying, its not that simple and it doesn’t really add much.

I’ve said it before and will say it again, the best way to appeal to casuals is visual/aural stimulation. It’s a much better design philosophy to make stuff look “badass”(even if some people dislike things like blood/gore, dark settings/characters) than it is to take a game and then dumb down the controls and gameplay in hopes that casuals will eat it up. People who aren’t even hardcore fighter fans saw stuff like Scorpion spearing people and dragging them across the floor as something awesome and they’d buy the game just seeing stuff like that. Those same people seeing SFxTekken, what was supposed to give them that same desire to want that game so bad, input shortcuts and assist gems? I never once heard ANY gamer, regardless how often they play games or how good or bad they are, get excited going “Oh man guys, this game, get this, it’s easier to do a dp now cuz of shortcuts!”

Same reason Tekken tends to do better than VF. VF doesn’t “cater to casuals”(quite the opposite), but notice Tekken has all this “badass/cool” stuff that gets people into it. You got chars like Kazuya in a slick suit with shades like some Yakuza mafia dude from some movie and Bryan Fury as some insane Rambo character and people eat that shit up. Same reason WoW gets so many fans, and Michael Bay movies get so many viewers it’s that whole rule of cool thing, make shit look cool and badass and all that stuff and people will eat it up. People may say it’s low brow or a cheap way to get people interested but when you’re a game designer and that shit gets you tons of sales, you’re not gonna care that like 20 dudes online think your game is “lowbrow”

Heh, dense enough to assume you meant “engine” when you wrote, “engine”.

Anyway, you actually don’t know about the mechanics of the game. We don’t have enough information. You can see some clips of the dynamics of games in progress, and we know from interviews what the desired dynamics and aesthetics are, but how these things are actually implemented are currently a mystery (other than the aforementioned UE3 engine).

There will likely be many similarities to MK9, and in my opinion, that’s a great place to start. I would even rather see a noble failure (which I doubt) than MvC3 with some new characters and a fresh coat of paint. It’s time to take risks with fighting games, otherwise there’s no reason for new product to be released.

And I think NRS is the company the most likely to actually take some risks. (Hell we know they already have just from the first info)

~~

I meant mechanics engine, but it doesn’t matter. I shouldn’t have called you dense. Bad day on my part dealing with Century Link and their broke ass internet service.

NRS might be doing the same thing Capcom did in the 90s.

Get a license for something that will sell amazingly regardless (Capcom = Marvel, NRS = DC) and use it to experiment with how far you can push things (XMCOTA, MSH, XMvSF MSHvSF, MvC, MvC2).

I wonder how easy DC is with the style sheets. I remember hearing a lot in the run up to MvC3 that Marvel was a real PITA about making really weird things just right. I guess it slikely that they have a better rapport either way ><

Notice I didn’t say MvC3. It was intentional for the reason you pointed out.

cyborg would be a hybrid more than anything, he’s way to strong to be a gadget character.
for him to hit like a truck and shoot multiple full screen lasers(which since its a giant laser cannon it has no close ranged stopping point) he’s be horribly broken.
At most he’d have a low shooting laser, and mid shooting laser, and a high shooting laser and they’d all be slow to start up or chargeable.

Anything more than that would be an incredibly strong brawler that can zone incredibly well, which would be kind of broken.

I’d be happy if we actually got Booster Gold, i’d probably insta-main him just because he’s awesome.
and this game better have some god damn taunts.
