Injustice: Gods Among Us; New Game by NetherRealm Studios

It doesn’t work like that. There are tons of variables that factor into a game’s release date. DC has a HUGE say in it. Developers don’t just have infinite time frames in which they can develop games. Remember how we got corporate-fucked out of 8 more characters in UMvC 3?

NRS is developing content past their allotted time-frame for their primary development cycle. A lot of people don’t seem to understand this. Probably due to other companies locking FINISHED content off on the disc.

Can’t agree with you on that, because DC is not an excuse for it.

NRS is the “main problem”. They had all the rights they needed on their Mortal Kombat characters and they still offered you additional characters post release of the game and increased to overall costs you had to pay for the game.
And it’s not like they only came up with entirely new characters. Kenshi was there before. Rain was as well, even though Rain is pretty much a tricky pony, because of the visual effects of his powers, but I would have preferd to get the game few months later, yet in a full package and not pay 85$ for the full game (yes, that’s how much the game costs in Europe), spend a lot of money on the DLC characters, and then see a Komplete Edition of the game later on with some additional content like the movie and so on.

NRS is trying to make more money by using bad business practices.
Take a look at Kratos… A PS3 exclusive. Was it impossible for them to come up with a X-Box exclusive character for the sake of it? No, but they didn’t give a damn, because Microsoft didn’t offer them the extra money that Sony always offers to companies to come up with stuff like that. SFxT is the prime example for it, where Sony and Capcom had a deal with the additional exclusive characters + the extra couch co op mode, that the X-Box does not have and never will have.

Wake up man, we - the gamers - are getting wallet-raped by the gaming industry nowdays.

May I please see the source for all this information you’re getting?

Not sure if serious.

It’s called internet research

I’m 100% serious. Those are a lot of accusations with no link to the proof. I like proof, it’s an annoying trait of mine.

I haven’t found any proof that Sony paid Capcom for character exclusives. Ono never mentions it, Sony doesn’t either, and the video game news sites never say they paid for those exclusives. Only bloggers mention it, but bloggers aren’t held to the same standards as corporate-hired writers are.

EDIT: I’m talking about SFxT here. That accusation has no base of merit.

I just did another search for MK9 and found nothing.

I’m holding you guys at a higher standard than you hold yourselves. I’m sure you have the ability to be great posters on SRK, but you need to make sure you know your research instead of going by rumors. Raise the standard of quality you hold for yourselves here.

Well it makes sense to want proof because how does anyone know what kind of contract NRS has with DC other than NRS and without proof we would have random people like Mendis spouting everything they say as fact.

Re-read my post, please.
DC was used as the excuse for the developer to come up with additional characters, which could not have been released earlier due to copyright / time issues.

My point was that NRS owns the entire Mortal Kombat franchise and they came up with DLC characters later on, probably simply to make more money out of it, while they could have taken a little bit more time to deliver you the game in one, whole package.

People who still think that DLC is a good thing and that the publishers are not abusing it heavily, since they’re able to make much, MUCH more money thanks to it, since they don’t have to share the money with the gaming manufactury / retailers … are simply blind.

PS: I love your avatar.

Yeah, because it’s something very common for companies to come along and tell you how they’re doing their business.
I don’t even know why I’m responding to you, but I guess I’m just wondering why you’re wasting your and my time by writing something like that down.
I mean, what the hell, mate?

If the SONY PS3 version of SFxT offers you exclusive characters and the SONY VITA offers you the entire content for less money, then it should be obvious that they paid Capcom to come up with that stuff to 1. make the PS3 look better than the 360 and 2. to make the PS3 version of the game more attractive, as well offer the people a reason to buy the VITA + the VITA-version of the game.
Additionally to that they go even one step further and the SONY PS3 offers you the opportunity to start a local host and play online, while you can’t do the same thing on the X-Box 360 and Capcom tells you that the reason for that bullshit is that Microsoft didn’t include that feature for the X-Box 360, even though other games (MK9) have done the exact same thing.
Then when they figure out that everyone knows that, they continue to lie to your face by telling you that they didn’t have the time to include that feature to the X-Box 360 version of the game and guess what - not even patches are going to fix that in the future, simply because … yeah, you guessed it - that feature is is a PS3 exclusive.

NRS coming up with Kratos and his stage for the PS3-version of MK9, yet the X-Box 360 version of the game has nothing?
Trust me man - Sony was once again trying to get a small advantage over the X-Box 360, since they’re getting trashed on a monthly basis, when it comes to the sales of the consoles.

Listen, I don’t want to attack you personally, or hell even insult you, if you’re consindering it now as an insult … really no offense behind it, but please don’t reply to me anymore. You’re a little bit weird, if you’re not able to see the obvious.

The obvious = DLC is the devil.

Wasting my time? It’s because people like you went unchecked on SRK for so long that the quality of the forums has degraded. I’m trying to help you become a better poster and you’re acting hostile. I just don’t want rumors spreading around as fact.

If you’re going to say “well why would companies tell us about their plans!” why are you commentating as if they did? You know what you’re saying is a rumor. I’ll clarify it for you:
ru-mor: A currently circulating story or report of uncertain or doubtful truth

That’s what you’re doing. Instead of being defensive, you should reflect on it.

I’m not going to trust you. Each stance you gave me could have a completely viable excuse. Unless I have concrete proof I won’t believe what you say. You should add “In my opinion” to your post. Just saying.

Microsoft should be the ones to blame for not caring enough about fighting games and not willing to pay a bit more for extra contents. NRS wanted to give the X-Box an exclusive character for MK9, but they said no. If Microsoft really cared about fighting games, they would’ve released Killer Instinct 3 by now and they would’ve let more 3rd party companies make fightpads for the X-Box.

Pay for what content? There’s no proof Sony paid for shit. They could have just said, “Yeah, sure. Use some of our licensed characters in your game for our system.” We don’t know, though.

CUT.
OUT.
THE.
RUMORS.

…or at least qualify your post with, “in my opinion.” That way no one will be misled.

This is exactly what happened. Microsoft is responsible, not NRS.
As for the dlc, it doesn’t matter if the characters are mk characters or not, they were completed after release, so they were a bonus.

If they said no, it does not mean they didn’t want to pay whatever fee. It could just be that they said no.

Assumptions all up in here!

Mendis, you really don’t know what you’re talking about. I’ve only read like 2 lines of what you wrote and I can tell, you haven’t done your research. DC was never used as an excuse, it was used as an example. You’re clueless. Truly.

Plenty of developers have gone on deck saying that there are tons of external factors that go in to determining the release date of a game. DC, as I said has strong influence over the characters being chosen as well. They could use the release of Injustice to coincide with the release of movies, comics or any of the other tons of forms of media that they produce. Warner Bros can influence the release date in a way as to not over saturate the releases of all of their media. There’s a million things that can happen.

Developers don’t have nearly the power that you think they had. We lost out on 8 extra characters in Ultimate MvC because the team wasn’t given enough time to deliver all of the content that they wanted to.

Are you talking to me? Because I never mentioned anything about DC Comics. Did you read the previous posts? The way to understanding my posts lies within them…

Have we seen the “roman cancel” equivalent in any footage for Injustice? I remember it mentioned a while back, but I don’t think we’ve seen it in action.

Ummm what? I never said anything about paying a fee, I was just backing c-swords comment that microsoft (for whatever reason) was the one who decided not to have an xbox exclusive. This was all stated by NRS a while back. I never assumed anything.

EDIT: Not that I have seen Jocelot.

The post you quoted blames Microsoft for not paying for exclusives and you agreed…

Hmm didn’t notice the pay part, got me there. Read that wrong.
