They already changed their method of blocking to be like other games, and the way the game handles attacks hitting each other, why stop there?
“Different and creative” sounds good on paper, but you should also remember “If it ain’t broke…”

Exactly, their button inputs “ain’t broke”.
Well… mostly. I’m still not a fan of the Kano Ball input in MK9. Besides that yeah I have no qualms.
Well there are always commands that some people have difficulty with, I personally never had any problems with the kano inputs but I know people who did.
Judging from trailers i have seen recently, somehow Batman resembles Johnny Cage most in Injustice(man even his super is a counter one too, except without nuts cracking)
Flash = JC.
I like the mk style button inputs, so i’m happy with seeing them in this.
Superman v. Batman is kinda dumb anyway because it basically comes down to who has stronger plot immunity. It’s conceivable that Batman could come up with an intricate plan and use kryptonite to defeat Superman, but Lex Luthor already does that and it never works because of aforementioned plot immunity in his own books.
Well context is everything in pretty much every fight ever. You could honestly say the above about a lot of heroes in both DC and Marvel.
From the front page, but it hasn’t been posted yet here so i thought why not.
Apparently we wont have to worry about compatibility issues for dlc like in mk9
That’s good. It was always annoying trying to practice with a new character only to get to the character select and see that your opponent refused to get the update.
I mean c’mon, seriously. If you don’t want the new dlc character, whatever fine. At LEAST download the FREE update that takes a couple minutes to download so I can use my freakin character. iirc, you got free dlc outfits out of it to sometimes.
I always thought they should have forced people to download the dlc compatibility patch, like by barring online play for those without it, while giving the link to the free download.I can’t really blame Netherealms for the shortsightedness, I would think anyone would take the time to download them when they came with free stuff, but apparently i would be wrong, as were they.
I have to wonder why they didn’t what arcsys did with BB where every character is contained on a mandatory patch, so you can still play against the dlc characters even when you didn’t buy them.
I was hoping that NRS would not include DLC characters, but take their time and include the entire roster from the very first beginning.
DLC characters in a fighting game are so damn important that you can’t go without them and for the developer / publisher the easiest way to make extra money, I get that but damn … it’s such a bad business practice. Not saying when the game is going to come up, but already knowing that it will feature DLC characters. So bold…
Why is Harada the only person who gets it right and offers DLC characters for free?
But still, even that is hard for me to accept. If I take my fighting game to a buddy, so that we can play, I would like to have the entire roster on the game and not on my X-Box hard drive. If I rent the game, I want to be able to play the entire roster, but no … they want the money :-7
In a game like this coming up with visual DLC would have been the game to go. Offer us the original and old costumes for real life Bison dollars, but characters? Man, that hurts.
Well some people just weren’t ready for Freddy.
I feel like Tekken doesn’t get DLC characters right either, chopping up what should be the Day One Roster for the sake of inflating preorders. And I still have no idea where to preorder if I want to get Alex, Forest or the unrevealed cast members. Are they even preorder characters? Previews are all over the place on that.
I think only the first four (Kuni, Angel, Ogre and Michelle) are pre-order bonuses. They’re not really DLC, anyway, they’re just a time locked bonus, basically.
Sound negative, but doesn’t it mean that Disc Lock Content is much safer,LOL
Just kidding
BBs system is novel, but its logistically complex. You have to include all the previous data in each successive patch, and there are rules on each network about size and frequency of patches. Plus, there’s the cost. If the 40k stories are true, that means paying 40k every time they want to release a character, plus whatever it costs just to host the actual buyable dlc, and a completely seperate submission and approval process / timeline. This is all in addition to whatever “regular” patches they had to do for balance, or glitches, or what have you. Remember how BB:CS was plagued with DLC delays and mystery? That’s because Arc planned their characters around balance patches to circumvent the cost.
That said, NRS’ system for MK9 is the same one in place for every other genre on the market (without on disc bs) and it has worked just fine since the first map packs for doom and wolfenstein hundreds of years ago, there was no reason to believe it wouldn’t be a success. Sports, Shooters, Racing, Music, Puzzle, Party, etc. If someone in the group is missing the dlc, nobody gets to play it. And most people are fine with it, odds are if you’re actually seriously playing online you can just tell your opponent to d/l it and they will anyway or you can just stop playing that person. Unfortunately, it appears NRS spent maybe 8 minutes tops testing the compatibility between people who had the dlc and people who didn’t. Then again, they apparently only had 20 minutes and 3 drunk armadillos allocated for all their connectivity testing, so maybe we should be thankful it worked at all.
Regardless of what the comment monsters say, the real issue among actual players was not unavailable characters, it was that even if you picked an available character or costume the match would immediately, drop (AFTER LOADING), or just freeze your entire goddamned console during the match. That’s WAY worse than having to use Stryker instead of Rain in a random ranked match.
People point a lot of fingers at the big shooters and wonder why they don’t have these problems, well, when you move the kind of units those titles do, you get favors. Free patches, free hosting, weird network allowances, shorter submission processes. You read some of the articles and rants from smaller dev houses about how they have to pay through the nose and jump through flaming hoops to support their games on console, but big games like Minecraft and Portal and CoD get huge favors from Sony and MS. That sort of stuff rarely happens for fighters, they just aren’t big enough.
Didn’t Batman came back after being killed “re-humanized”, less of a bitch? Shortly after, the new 52 started, he didn’t waste time revealing his true identity to Greeen Lantern, and apparently he trusts Superman.
LMAO, harada is only doing that because he wants to take advantage of the bad publicity that capcom had with their recent DLC fiasco and try to please dumb people like you. Another thing, are you that stupid to think that something that some people worked should be free?
DLC characters help to avoid yearly revisions that need a new disc, but hey, none of those two are liked, so how a developer should expand their games?
I seriously want to see all these idiots that ask for free dlc characters try to run a game company and see them fail hard because their poor business decisions
BBCS only had problems with their DLC characters one single time and was only on xbox 360 due some problems with microsoft that didn’t have anything to do with arc, iirc many dlc’s and patches of other games were in halt for an amount of time because of that, it only affected the Valk release date, the other 2 were released in time.
