Injustice: Gods Among Us; New Game by NetherRealm Studios

I recently finished re watching all of justice league/Unlimited. Really enjoyed it and it showed me just how many characters DC has that could work here. Now I am re-watching Young Justice.

Anyway, there hasn’t been any more news, character rumors, or anything the past week or so right?

I don’t think mendis knows nearly as much about the FGC as he thinks he does.

The biggest thing that hurt MK9 was the MK community had to rebuild itself on the fly. Also the “hotfix” patches would drastically change the game balance which prevented people from playing at an elite level because we had to keep relearning match-ups and even our combos.

This whole “corner combos killed the hype” stuff he’s saying is just wrong. Lol also the only people who don’t see all the hit confirms in Mk9 is people who don’t play and understand the game.

No, the next big thing should be the GamesCon in Germany from August 15 to August 18.
They will announce one or two new characters I think an reveal more of the story.

Feel free to watch recent tournament-play.

Do you see how much damage happens during corner-combos? It does make the game less spectacular.

I re-watched JL/JLU a few weeks ago. It reminded me how awesome the opening theme was for those shows. They managed to sneak a lot of adult jokes in there. I was constantly thinking to myself, “Is this show really for kids?”.

@Mendis, Your point is even more baffling now that you’ve presented real actual hype and called it unhype. Exactly what line of logic are you using where big combos are not hype? And more to the point, what game doesn’t have huge corner combos?

What is this mysterious hype other games have that MK does not?

The video I presented you shows a player launching the opponent into the sky and then jump-pushing him forward, to be near the corner, execute his combos.
If that’s not a corner-combo-heavy game, then I’m Gargamel and currently searching for a way to turn you into gold and your friends into a delicious, blue soup.

Even though it’s the MK9 finals, the crowd is silent. No damn, the crowd it’s dead. That’s what I call “lack of hype”, since it’s simply not that exciting to watch it.
If you’re calling that video “hype”, then you clearly didn’t see the grand finals of other EVO games and you didn’t see the dedication of the crowd when it came to these other games. No one was excited for MK9.

But MK9 is a good game. It offers great single-player content and a vast variety of characters to play and experiment with. On a lower level of fighting. If you guys are fine with that, then I’m fine with that as well. But when it comes to competetive play and tournaments (and they do matter), then MK9 turns into something that most of the games are not. MK9 turns into a game that is very reliant on corner-combos and combo-breakers. That’s most of the stuff you see in the game.
That’s not the case for UMVC3 where the technology outshines every, single other game (and that’s me saying that, probably the person who hates Cashcom the most). Skullgirls has a better fighting mechanics than MK9 and that means a lot.

The entire block-button, corner-combo-juggle, combo-breaker-dependency does not work for the tournament-play, since people simply don’t care.
Yeah, I’m aware that there are enough people who are playing the game and yeah, I’m aware of the fact that many people will play Injustice as well (including myself, no matter how the game turns out to be and no matter how much DLC they throw at me), but right now they still have the chance to make more out of the game and if they manage to do so, it will attract even more people, because it will get more hype. It will simply get more overall attention and that would be a good thing in my book.

I noticed that as well, and in other TV shows and games I watched/played as a kid. Made me enjoy the show even more.

Hype is hype, doesn’t matter whose more hype than who.

SF4 and UMVC3 are apparently better? in Corner combos in UMVC3 can be done literally ANYWHERE on the screen.

That’s not MK9’s fault at all.

…Apparently GG/Blazblue/P4A can have a burst and it’s okay?

That’s because MK9 combo system is different from most Japanese fighter game. The concept still exist.

Because they were non-capcom games. Capcom games would beat Tekken, Virtua Fighter or even KOF13. None of those games are bad, it’s just that capcom have better popularity in hardcore scene.

There is no game in existance that will beat AE and UMVC3. You could make KOF13/SG/VF5 it will still not top UMVC3/AE because it has nothing to do with mechanics.

I don’t see how a non-capcom to survive two years of being in EVO is going to bomb.

Bullshit. The community won’t even appreciate Virtual Fighter/KOF13’s attempt of catering to the hardcore community and Capcom doesn’t appreciate this. So no.

Welcome to fighters, people want to win. That’s exactly what people do in UMVC3 for example.

It’s up to the devs to make those characters unique. It’s moot to say that X character should get in over Y because character X has the same powers as one of the other character. Those characters can co-exist in the same game and not be clones. This game roster could consist of nothing but Lanterns and still come up with unique set of moves for each when you look into how the ring works and how each individual character utilizes it’s power.

They may have different properties, but the moves would still be the same.

she may shoot her eye lasers to the sky, while he shoots his downward but they are both still the same move technically.

I’d rather have Big Barda palming someone’s head like a basket ball then slamming their face into the ground, or Booster gold blasting people in the chest with his energy projectiles while making arrogant and comedically stupid remarks than have super girl basically being a superman clone but not a superman clone.

If characters end up too similar in a FG, it’s the fault of the game developer, no one else.

you do realize i’m talking about cosmetics right?

And they would be like X-23 and Wolverine, they have different moves but play the same way kind of.

Super Girl would be the same way, no matter what they do.

So every character in FG history with a FB are similar right? Doesn’t matter how different the properties are, a Fireball is a Fireball right?

What matters is that all the characters play differently from one another. Having the same or similar set of powers and abilities don’t get in the way of that.

Not this shit again!!! Look people have different opinions on this and that’s fine but I’m pretty sure we already had this argument in this very thread.

If you guys wanna have this debate again please do it in another thread because it all comes down to personal philosophy and neither side can be completely right.

I tend to agree with Pterodactyl because DC has too many amazing characters to have similar versions of characters already in the game even if they play differently. But really this argument is a waste of time and energy because the roster has already been decided by NRS.

Don’t do that, not with me.

It’s not every character that has a fireball is the same, it’s every character that has a fireball, a shoryuken, and a Tatsu is a shoto.

Doesn’t matter how diffferent they look or function, it’s still the same shit, look at Gouken(and before you try to reply on it, I’m counting his super as a shoryuken because it technically is) and Ryu.

She’s Kryptonian and has the exact same powers.

They can play differently but no matter what they would still be undeniably similar.

And nothing at all in that post I made states that she would be a clone/the same because she has one similar move with different properties, so your reply wasn’t even justified.

Does anyone else think Cyborg’s gimmick seems really weak? Yeah, healing sounds neat, but it takes a long time to heal much at all based on the video of it we saw, I doubt anyone will let you heal much at all, especially with how fast dashes are in this game, and tons of people already have projectiles.

Is MK9 your first fighting game? Getting comboed in a corner is an invitation to die. Corners force your opponent’s character to stay closer to you while they get hit which leads to corner only combos.

Corner combos are the hype as all hell because there are a million and a half things you can only do with your opponent cornered. If people did corner combo damage mid screen games would be beyond whack.
