Injustice: Gods Among Us; New Game by NetherRealm Studios

The game is going to bomb, if they stick all too much to these ideas.
It’s simply not exciting to watch the same crap over and over and over and over and over again.

It does work for UMVC3 somehow, because you can chain it into all the other fancy stuff, you can DHC, X-Factor out of it and so on, but Injustice?
If someone hits you with a hard attack, you will see a 10 seconds long cut-scenes, that you already saw 1000 times before, if you invested hours and hours into the game.
And that can and will become taxing.

Shorter stage transactions are the number one complain of the fighting game community, when it comes to Injustice. If they don’t change anything about that and force-feed you these long transactions and the wager-mode-combo-breaker-sequences, then the game deserves to bomb hard and turn into MK9 V2 after the very first tournament.

Don’t forget, MK9 was the weakest game during the EVO, while UMVC3 and SSF4: AE were the strongest, the most hyped up games.
Injustice has to make things vastly different than MK9 to appeal the masses, since if the people play the game and they watch tournaments and keep people coming up with new combos and new tech, then the game won’t die that fast and more and more people will get interested in the game.

Otherwise NRS are only going to create a new fighting game with great single player content and fairly entertaining gameplay, but absolutely nothing that keeps you going, and going, and going, and going, and going like UMVC3 and SSF4: AE are doing it, no matter how greedy and evil the company that developed and published the games is.

I think your mind set on this not heathly in any way. Your perspective are too linear and desires self center. Understand that injustice is not design for you alone and nor do you speak for the FGC. The things you dislike I’m confident others appreciate including me.

NRS only desire with mk9 besides making a profitable product was also to appeal its competitive audience and having a presence in the FGC… Every other expectations doesn’t matter at this point. NRS accomplished what they set out to do. Every else is some other person dilemma.

note- For person who like to imply understanding of the community, you sure don’t understand MK9 community.

It’s going to bomb? this game is basically(key word BASIC, from the simplest point of view) Mortal Kombat(9) with DC characters.

Both of those things are incredibly popular.

This game looks to play like a tweaked MK9, which also did very well, and is in a whole lot of tournaments.

will this game be amazingly good, or terribly shitty, no one knows.

will it bomb? fuck no it won’t.

This is the only Luthor that should be in this game, President FUCKING Luthor.

as the top comment of this video says:

An aquarium that takes up an entire wall? $50,000
A new mahogany desk to replace a broken one? $600
Trolling Superman with a fake presidential campaign? $75,000,000
Bitchslapping the Question around your office and foiling his murder attempt? Priceless.

How the fuck can you not confirm hits in MK9?

It’s obviously that guy didn’t play enough of MK9.

Yeah that’s obvious but of all the things to make bullshit up about, hit confirming is like one of the dumbest.

That won’t be enough to keep a character away. Superman and Captain Marvel were in MKvsDC. Both have similar powers and played nothing alike. When you look at UMvC3 roster there’s tons of characters that share similar characteristics power-wise. Wolverine and X-23 are identical if your only looking at their powers and abilities and did they turn out that way in-game? Hell no. It’s up to the devs to make each character unique.

Hey I wanna get hype for this cuz I’m not a huge fan of DC. What movies will change my mind?

Most of the movies suck but the comics are awesome.

Most of their direct-to-DVD animated movies is a good place to start. I personally recommend Justice League: The New Frontier, All Star Superman, Superman vs The Elite and Batman: Year One

Under the Red Hoos is also EXTREMELY good. Really depressing though.

I really wish people would stop comparing Captain Marvel to superman.

They only have a few(very, very few) powers that are similar

Shit, I guess Martian Manhunter, Wonder Woman, Icon, and anyone else who can fly, has super strength, and limited invulnerability are** just like superman to the point where people think they cant co-exist in a video game because they are too similar even though they aren’t really that similar at all if you take the time to think about it and maybe list their differences and similarities via venn-diagram if you have the time for it, or ya know, just feel like it or whatever, man.**

After the New Kypton story was over Lois’s dad keep tabs on Icon suspecting him of being Kryptonian. :razzy:

Can’t help comparing Supes with the Big Red Cheese due to their history.

Speaking of Icon, some Milestone representation would be great to see some lesser known characters and as a lovenote to McDuffie.

“Icon is a powerful member of the Termian race, a powerful alien race whose abilities are similar in strength and power to that of Kryptonians under a yellow sun.”

Take note of the list of his powers, not only doesn’t he have most of superman’s powers, he has some that superman doesn’t have.

They started out really similar, and DC’s been working to differentiate them for decades now.

You can hardly blame people for thinking back to times when they were more alike than different.

According to him, humanity will evolve to have those powers once they get pass their limits. Theoretically, everyone will be a Superman.

that makes no sense, things evolve for survival, not just because.

Unless there is an infestation of giant human eating, eye laser vulnerable, extremely heavy, super fast, flying water monsters on planet earth I cant see why the human race would get ANY of those powers without genetic engineering or scientific tampering.

Especially not when most of the population can literally walk a couple of feet and find some food, or make a weapon out of even the most harmless of objects.

That’s actually not what I had in mind.
Yeah, the game is going to sell a lot of copies. We’re talking about Superman and Batman after all.

But when it comes to the tournaments and the fighting game community, then it is going to bomb, if it doesn’t change things drastically.
You can try to hold on onto the legacy of Mortal Kombat 9 and it’s viability in the fighting game community, yet in the end of the day the game still had the lowest numbers during the EVO 2012, because there is only a tiny part of the community interested in that game. The Mortal Kombat 9 community.

There is also a Soul Calibur 5 community, which should be even smaller, but the SCV numbers were also pretty damn low during the EVO.
Not as low as MK9’s numbers, but pretty damn low.

And what’s the reason for that? It looks like MK9 does not appeal to the biggest part of the FGC.
Why? Is it because of the bad netcode? I don’t think so. UMVC3 has by far not the best netcode, but it’s simply doing something right that keeps the people engaged.
SCV has probably the best netcode / online-play out of them all, yet the game is still not that hyped.

If Injustice sticks to the MK9 roots, it will be a medicore-hyped fighting game. I’m a fan of fighting games and I’m even more of a fan of comic books and superheroes. I don’t want the game to bomb, but for that it has to fascinate the big part of the fighting game community to simply stay alive and always come up with new combos, new technology, new hype.

It’s that simple.

Captain Marvel is not Power Girl, a character most of the people actually only want because of their tits. Great reason.
But I don’t doubt that NRS would be able to create a good Power Girl who would play differently than Superman. I don’t doubt that at all.

I have two other problems.

  1. If they stick to the MK9 gameplay / mechanics, the game is going to turn into a corner-combo-fest and if that becomes the case, you won’t care about the uniqueness of the characters anymore. You will be simply looking for a good character to execute a good amount of very damaging corner-combos and that makes the game more boring. But I already wrote in more detail above.

  2. Offering Power Girl or Supergirl a spot in the roster would take away one spot, that you could give to a different character, who would offer you a totally different playing experience. Yeah, Wolverine and X-23 are the same, but in UMVC3 they play differently, yet I would still rather give X-23 away and play a character like Venom, or Sandman who would offer me a totally different experience.
Yeah, NRS can make Supergirl play differently than Superman, who has the exact same power-set, yet I would rather see someone like Clayface or Poison Ivy in the game, instead of Supergirl, since these two characters would offer me a totally different experience.

And no, MK9 is not known for hit-confirms.
It’s not just my opinion. It’s the opinion of many, many, many other people out there, while there are 5-6 people who come up with 3-4 MK characters who can come up with attacks, than can be used as hit-confirms. Great stuff.
For Injustice, make Light-Medium-Heavy linkable and it’s all good. Safe hit-confirms, nothing all too fancy.

This should be the main way in Injustice to do combos and damage and not trying to get the game to the corner as soon as possible.
If we think logically about it, the corners won’t play that much of a role, since the stages are going to be huge and expandable. Wallbounces and OTG’s will play a huge role, when it comes to the combo-potential and damage-maximizing for sure!

Oh, you’re talking about shit that doesn’t matter.

Sorry for the confusion.
