haha no i hadn’t realized that. then yea… 120 is really fuckin low… but in general… i don’t mind a damage nerf on flip grab… but 140-150 sounds very fair. things can change from here to december though. so the damage nerf could be lessened in that time… 200 is definitely a shit ton of damage though. i think 150 would be perfect for it. it’d make it do about the damage it did in the alphas.
anyway… it’s good to hear that capcom has definitely in some way seen our complaints about guy and are willing to change them… so who knows… we could get a faster walk speed by official release for arcade.
Honestly, I don’t mind a damage nerf to the Bushin flip, but nerfing it and making it harder to connect with on the MP and HP versions seems like a little much. I have caused more ragequits with that flip than anything else (scrub Juri players hate bushin flips, they generally take 3 or 4 in a row before they can hit me). It does seem like an overreaction with how much they reduced the damage though. Fixing the overhead and T.C. is an amazing boost. I use U2 almost exclusively, so hearing that it has been improved is great news. I still have my fingers crossed for a walk speed increase, and possibly a better hitbox on one or two of his normals. Overall I am hype for these changes, and cannot wait to see my win ratio go up once the Arcade patch hits the consoles.
just make his bunshin elbow a overhead, his hurricane hit both sides make his u1 autocombo like rufus make his bunshin grab 150-170 and leave all the other buffs above, and call it a day.bc they really need to do somethign to guy bc this is his worst gamer appearance in a game. so far right now its sfa1>sfa3>sfa2>ssf4
Currently they say he is a stronger character now, All I have to say is elbow overhead yes it would make for more pressure especially since the flip damage has been lowered and it is apparently slower there is no confirmation on that at all yet on what that means, and they it hard to catch with MP/HP Bushin, I see the elbow being overhead fair or at least do chip damage, on a side note 150 for Bushin would be perfect if we have elbow as overhead.
Was Guy’s Bushin Flip elbow an overhead in Alpha? I could’ve sworn it was because I used to hit it all the time. Also, I think that if they improved his jab, they’d change the timing of the Bushin Chain and make it more strict like in the Alpha games.
If you’re talking about cr.LP, I think everyone would want a 3 frame cr.LK due to its better range.
I still think the huge damage nerf on the Bushin Flip Grab is a bit too much. If Capcom wants to take out the randomness and random comebacks caused by Bushin Flip Grab, I can understand that, but Guy needs to be given something in return. I’m still hoping for him to be a quicker character in the final update of SSF4: AE. They’ve already given him a faster HP Hozanto.
i’m mostly hype about the TC not whiffing on crouchers. i remember when i first came into the guy forums, i was complaining about that nonstop, haha (some of the guy pros here probably remember answering my dumb questions). i agree that TC not whiffing improves his run stop since it’s the longest range way to lead into his safe run stop pressure game.
i wonder how far they extended the hitbox -> that might imply an increase in range of the TC beyond what we might expect, so he might be able to go into run stop game from even farther. iono.
i have a feeling faster slide means the c.hk slide, cuz the other slide already starts up really fast from the run command.
but yeah you’re right safe from spd must mean that it’s 0 on block if they block it point blank. unfortunately since guy’s fastest move is 4 frames characters with 3 frame jabs will still be at advantage from a point blank blocked lp shoulder.
however, it’s still pretty significant, because if it really is 0 on block, lp shoulder might actually provide good frame advantage if you hit it meaty (last active frame, shoulder has 3… at least right now) and let you set up frame traps
I for one, am honestly not happy with the changes. It took me forever to work the TC out of my pressure chains and just go off S.MP into special cancels, and honestly, it felt almost better pressure wise as if it counter hit, the run stop would chain right into a bushin chain, completing the target combo almost fells like a bad thing for me to do at this point and only use it after a fake safe jump immediately after a J. FK so, these overall trade offs are bad for me. EX bushin flip on wakeup after a slide is at best a gimmick to work on people who don’t know guy at all, or are just confused by what you’re doing, so I can’t see that as being the reason they’re nerfing it by almost half, won’t matter much as it’s still an incredible ambiguous cross up setup and still a vital part of the guy game(especially against turtle chuns imo). if izuna otoshi damage is nerfed i’ll be sad on the basis that’s it’s an actual air command throw and should do more damage simply on that basis, but on a more serious point, no one would be really afraid to jump at guy anymore(not that they really are now unless it’s 3/4ths to full screen). I’ll have to see the U2 changes myself before i complain about any possible damage nerfs to that.
All in all it feels like they just made him a more accessible character at the cost of damage output. I doubt I’ll ever drop guy, even in favor of my 3s character yang(off topic, but wtf about yang’s U1 losing to condor spire, i hope that was just some guy missing the timing or not getting a good look at it). It’ll be nice to have some thinking time during my pressure block strings with another FP in there.
One thing i want them to fix still however is close FK whiffing on certain characters(so many i’ve almost stopped using it) and more importantly, it whiffing on SRK punishes simply because they hunch over a little bit on landing.
If Houzantos really are faster…then TC->MP houzanto should be possible…I wonder if they tried MP->Lp houzanto as well…this is really sweet since you can combo u1 even if your a decent bit away from the corner…HP houzanto punishing chun fire ball fullscreen is also awesome…now if bushin flip grab is 150dmg ( c’mon its the most bad-ass throw in the game it needs that damage)…Thats all guy needs … yea CL.HK being more consistent would be a nice buff…really scary damage output…
