Info on Changes to Guy in Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade!

Just wanted create a section for users who have the ability to test out the new arcade version of SSF4. Please report back your findings of what changes have been made, if any to Guy…Please post only factual info. Hopefully the changes will be buffs that make it onto the console version…

BTW, there’s some youtube videos with Yun’s footage… fighting a Guy, so someone played him at the location test, we just have to find out if wrote something about it somewhere.

Guy deserve at least a little faster walking speed. More hit stun on elbow and flip elbow.faster run overhead.

At the very least, sounds like Capcom fixed the MP > HP hitbox. Damage nerf to Flip Grab was expected, but the amount of damage it does now makes it somewhat pointless to even try. Hopefully, Guy gets a few more changes that make the final update. I’m praying for anything faster: faster walk speed, faster normals, etc.

I hope run stop is a bit faster/safer.

The drop in damage from a bushin flip throw would be just fine if you could use it more often… Maybe if they added some startup invul, or gave it higher priority… or (prolly best) let it combo when an enemy is knocked in the air from ff chain and ff chain throw.

This u2 info - distance fixed… I know it had barely any distance… the only time I could reliably pull it off was to fa and dash forward, block or crumple it worked for me… But I did have to be right next to them. I couldn’t just be close. So this means I can use it from a bit further away? This gonna make it more useful? I hope they leave it fdb fdb and don’t turn it to a 720 throw… I’m horrible at buffering 720’s (although I’d learn it for guy)

Hitbox fix on tc? I’m presuming by the wording “fixed” that it now connects fully with crouching opponents?

I don’t see the point of reducing the Bushin Flip Grab that much…maybe down to 150-170…but c’mon, all you have to do is duck to avoid it…

yea damage nerf is too much for a move that’s so easy to counter or avoid. Glad to see some buffs but still hoping for a little more like longer active frames on some moves, better hitboxes, faster walk speed and hope he has a solid non ex AA move. Juri and some other characters have tons of solid AA normals so why not. Anything more then that would be a bonus which I’ll gladly take lol

Yea seems like a pretty large chunk to take out. Even if the elbow does more stun. Unless its significant.

though even that unless the hit box is tweaked still wont change that much. If basically every character in the game still has an attack that both goes under jump mk, and elbow(not just beats but litter ally is invincible to elbow and jump mk)then its still a somewhat moot point, when characters can just duck and mash on a move and guy has no jumping attack what so ever that can even hit period besides a as low to the ground as possible jump hk.

Also reading the japanese stuff his overhead is 2 hits now and slide is supposedly faster as well. Although the slide was already fast so maybe they ment something else? rubs chin

I hope that comment about the slide being sped up is talking about the transition to the overhead move. That thing was very obvious, as if the run wasn’t punishable enough…

I also hope they make the run / stop a bit safer. I’m not asking for fuerte options here… but if I could at least use it to bait without swallowing the hook -_-

I wonder what slide they mean,Cr.hk or run>slide?Maybe they mean faster recovery on one of the two instead of just being punished everytime its blocked from any distance.

His run slide faster? I was figuring they meant his Cr.HK slide when I didn’t see the usual “run/slide” notation…maybe the startup/recovery on Cr. HK slide is being improved, useful for sliding under crossup attempts. Two hit overhead though…they must have some ideas for it terms of canceling or comboing from it in some way…

Well they had to nerf Guy somehow I suppose. Allegedly, his MP xx HP target combo is fixed, it’s easier to combo off of an elbow and his U2 has more range. 120 on bushin flip now is the price we pay, but personally I didn’t use bushin flip powerbomb all that much in the first place. When will these changes go into effect again?

if Guy could combo his overhead like dudley can, that would be epic. He would then be a great mix up character. Especially if his run- stop pressure is safer. Hope to hear more buffs soon and no more nerfs. Damage reduction in ssf4 was bad enough in general, they don’t need to go further.

As it was before, the flip-grab was a move that you would use in the hopes of turning the tide of the match: it had a high-risk/high-reward thing going for it. If they are toning the damage down, it could mean that they are making it a bit more useful in battle by altering the trajectory, which I’m all for.

The problem with Guy from the transition from the Alphas to SSF4 - and bear with me - was that they made him less “horizontal” and more “vertical,” if that makes sense. Everything he does seems to go more “up” than left or right, a good example being the arch of his flip, or his slow walk speed (not saying he has the ability to walk up, hahaha).

I’m looking forward to the changes being made so far, to be perfectly honest. Even if they don’t make his walk speed faster (although he didn’t note that the walk speed wasn’t faster, so he could have just overlooked it), they have apparently done some tweaking to his TC, and I can walk away from that happy…

…I’m also joyous that I heard the tester say that Guy was “more viable.” Remember when some of us were going out and trying out test versions of Guy? And then most of us came back and said that he “just didn’t feel right?” Hopefully that is what he was referring to among the fixes.

Two hit overhead is interesting.It’s gonna be a perfect focus breaker given it’s good range.Makes his mid range game better.

If you can combo off of it it would be insane.Maybe two hit overhead>cr.jab,cr.short,st.strong xx run slide for untechable knockdown into elbow pressure with improved hit stun.This is wishful thinking though.

It’s almost half damage. Way too much of a nerf for something so easy to avoid and without a viable mixup.

I’m hoping he gets something that helps bunshin vs crouching opponents…
