Info on Changes to Guy in Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade!

all im hyped bout is that 3 frame low short u2 buff and TC fix. u no how much shit u can do with 3frame low short run stop?

hmmmmmmm…interesting choices. I wonder if the rumored changes are still around too with the TC hitbox change, Shoulder being safe to 2 frame grabs? Wasn’t there something about the run stop being slightly better too?

Pretty excited about these buffs but I didn’t see anything explicitly mentioning the TC non-whiffing (unless that was in the st. strong hitbox buff)? With TC, it’s always the hard punch that whiffs right? Anyway, definitely hope that the TC change is in as that’s the big one.

The 3f short makes his run/stop that much better not to mention the armor buffs! The increased U2 range, greater speed on the slide and HP hozanto and the jab hozanto being safe from grabs is icing on the cake if its true.

I think because TC whiffing was character specific and a hitbox issue. It’s something they didn’t catch initially. So I think it was meant to work that way on all characters. So it’s technically not a buff. So i could see why it maybe wasn’t mentioned. I hope it’s still there as well as the other buffs. They didn’t mention any nerfs in the blog either, so maybe it’s common knowledge what was said in the previous build.

Yes I’m quite serious, because I’m not sure how you play Guy, but not one of them has anything that’s difficult to get around. And yes they will make a mistake because that’s what Guy’s entire play style is based on. Making the opponent screw up.

Shotos: They’ve got a few choice normals and srk for AA, then they’ve got fireballs. Command elbow will beat the majority of those AA, will trade with SRK and will lose to c.hp. Fireballs, EX run, hozanto, jumping all of them get around fireballs. Now, on the rare chance you actually fight a shoto who turtles, you’ve got all the tools you need to get in on them. You only need one knockdown to control the rest of the match.

Guile: What’s he gonna try and keep you out with? Sonic Booms. Interesting fact, EX Run goes through sonic booms even ones that are EX. Also, if you know how to space your c.hk you can use that to make progress while just blocking them. He’ll use 3 moves to anti-air you: c.hp, flash kick, and his air throw. Command Elbow beats out Flash kick. Time an Air to air move and it’ll stop him for catching you with the throw. C.Hp is the only one that’s reliable, and it really isn’t that much of an issue since you can get in on him from the ground.

Chun: She has footsies sure, however run slide and run overhead do wonders on getting in on her. She has anti-airs, but her fireballs is ass. You don’t need to jump over it at her, just focus absorb it and move forward. On her wake up if she doesn’t have meter, you can do command elbow and she won’t be able to do much, if she does have meter and does Ex SBK if you time the command elbow right you’ll beat it clean.

Sim: EX run absorbs his limbs, eats his fireballs regular, and ex. Now, chances are after you do this EX run Sim will more than likely get hit by whatever ending to the run you throw out. So, do the slide get the untechable knockdown and go to town because once you put pressure on Sim he’s shit out of luck. Also, run slide beats his s.hp so even if you don’t have meter, runxxslide will beat his s.hp, but it won’t beat fireballs which blows. Bushin Flip, most Sims won’t be able to AA simply because it’s fast, but their s.rh can beat it. Again if you do it right, not hard to get in on hiim.

Bison: I don’t know how the hell a Bison turtles, but if he did I’d assume he’d just try and AA you s.rh and s.mk. Well, your run has 3 different options. He isn’t gonna guess right every time.

Balrog: Pretty much the same as Bison. He has good normals, but if you use the run you can normally bait things that you can punish.

Guy never controls shit against shotos. Cr.mk kills any offensive momentum he can get; beats tatsus, elbows, running options, run stop. Lol, shotos can even use it on wakeup. Besides, Guy should rarely jump on a decent shoto player anyway, even after a knockdown. But I digress…

I actually prefer the 3f cr. short. It has better range and has to be blocked low, unlike the jab.

u guys gota stop worrying if they added the tc fix. this was just a tease of what they buffed and nerfed for the chars. not the full list of changes are included.

Yah, I also saw that this is not the full list. I’m sure that Bushin Flip nerf is lurking somewhere… It’s just really annoying having TC whif on certain characters and I was hoping for confirmation of the fix. Ah well…

Any help is always good, I just wanted a few of his priorities upped and if the runstop is improved all the better. The non whiffing TC is also a + which should of been there from the start.

I’ve tried tinkering around with this pre update, but I could NOT get EX Run >> Stop to execute NEARLY as fast as Run >> Stop. Has anyone been able to get EX Run >> Stop to execute as fast as Run >> Stop?

OMFG. “Ex Run Follow up timing are the same as Run follow ups”. FUCK. YEAH. The updates didn’t say anything about nerfed damage on bushin flip grab though…is that still confirmed or what?

Hey, I’m stoked. I don’t know about the rest of you guys, but I’m at least smart enough to not look a gift horse in the mouth. :wink: I’d rather have Guy be a viable character and have a lot of people use him, as opposed to him missing a lot of stuff that other characters have and be the only one playing him.

oh sweet, with all the previous mentioned buffs (hozantos and tc fix) and footsies+pokes, Guy will be taking over cammy’s spot lol. I was kinda hoping for a hk tatsu hitting grounded opponents.

This change list is extremely exciting for me. I don’t even care about faster walk speed if I’ve get a 3 frame cr.lk and better medium normals. FOOTSIES!

Yea I guess thats what they were saying for ex run having the same timing as non EX which is really great. I just the game out now cause I’m worried they might change their mind or something lol. Hoping the other buffs are still in. Out of the 5 characters, Guy is the only one who got buffed pretty much, rest got nerfed lol. I think since guy was one of the first characters mentioned, it means they are done with now and probably working on the rest.

I wonder if command elbow into cr.lk is easier now. Meh, I don’t even care with all this good shit we got. I wanna see HP hozzanto in action cause if it’s actually solid for punishing fireballs then that’s epic.

Yeah I didn’t think about that. Now that he has a 3 frame normal, it will be alot easier to combo off bushin flip elbow. Combo off regular command elbow will be practically guaranteed.

Must retrain muscle memory. 3 frm cr. short should help equalize vs. Rog and Bison , no?
