The fact that it can, or could I should say because I stopped following SF4 so not 100% sure, be looped till dizzy can easily qualify it for infinite regardless of what you want to consider an infinite. The fact of the matter is they are just tools for people to use.
Ima go in and learn them any way because it may be months before it gets patched. Plus the infinites don’t really help my team much more than what I was already doing before. Once Viper is sitting on 3 plus meters she’s had enough at the meter buffet at that point.
Plus its still an escapable TOD which is not as concrete for tourney play as standard combos and resets. Standard resets keep you in a favorable position even if blocked as opposed to the heavy screen neutralization from someone countering a TAC.

It possible to break them, but the odds are ridiculously stacked against breaking them.
I mean, it’s worse that 1/6. And that’s before you consider a reset to catch people guessing TAC.
That’s not even my point. The fact that something that potent comes down to a QTE guessing game disgusts me.
as long as your character can TAC all 3 direction and even midscreen like magneto can, that shit is a fucking nightmare. Something as random as a j.fp mashable os, into random guess TAC into infinite is bleh. I’ve played this game just as long as anyone else has and I have been positive in breaking TACs for a whole session maybe 3 times in a year and a half and we’ve easily had 2000 sessions in that time frame.
and yea, the odds of breaking TACs are never in the breakers favor. Its stacked like a mother fucker. If they have a good TAC infinite character, that shit is random. The player attempting it if it lands gets to build 5 bars, draw out the timer and kill a character. The person breaking it gets a mere 50,000k!! watch out for my mediums worth of damage!! people can go for TAC infinites all day because the risk\reward is skewed.
Think about some big heavy ass mother fuckers. Like haggar, thor, hulk. Characters with massive amounts of life. You’re not going to be able to kill those characters in hit and most characters can’t even really kill them in 3 hits.
there are no cues to break TACs from good TAC infinite characters. Magneto simply gives you no hope before you get popped. Pure guess every time. I don’t have a problem with the infinite part, my gripe is that I can’t react to the reset that puts me in the infinite.
3 hits? most characters doing less than 600k per combo now? We all agree that infinites are bad and TACs are busted and definitely break the game but really, lets not forget this is marvel 3. How many characters have been found to be able to land the TAC infinite midscreen or in all three directions? Magneto, MODOK, Dorm?
It’s the same thing as always, take the blind guess mechanic that’s not THAT popular but is already seeing increased use (so many TACs last night on FGTV even without infinites), and give it a massive new set of utility.
That’s the problem, *it makes a blind guess a that much more attractive choice. *MvC3 is already pretty bad for that, this makes it that much worse.
To put it another way, its not the infinites themselves, its how they effect/put pressure on the rest of the game.
throws count as hits in my book and OS throws don’t lead to THAT much life. How about starting combos from the least optimal positions like in the air? its not as black and white as you’re trying to make it. Not every character can kill from every possible situation. Its about the overall potential of where hits actually come from rather than saying well my best optimal combo does 1mil every time. You won’t always be in those positions to get high damage throughout the course of a fight. There will be times you will have to take shit life because of where you started your hit from for most of the cast. Some characters like zero don’t give a shit how they start their hit but characters like wesker can’t get a drop down combo from SJ height. I shouldn’t have to really explain that though…
don’t forget that there are also corner carry characters so while you may not have a team that can TAC midscreen and kill, you can very well design a corner carry team into corner infinites.
not to mention that there will be some midscreen TAC’s that transition into corner infinites. storm can probably TAC midscreen, flight mode combo to take them to the corner then infinite and I’m sure other flight mode characters with only corner infinites should be able to take advantage of this.
the whole infinite thing isn’t even expanded upon yet either. It very well could get more crazy than it is now.
Its nice that it disgusts you but for major events it just won’t be as prominent as standard combos because the risk of it being broken with a neutral reset is possible. If something carries any risk at all…its not great for abusing at a major event.
At least not the very first chance you hit somebody. Being greedy in a game like this will always hurt you more than it helps you when it comes to the big time events.

It doesn’t loop until stun.
resets were “greedy” in mvc2 and yipes used the fuck out of them. A lot of players did. The reason they were used so damn much is because of how hard they were to fucking block, kind of like how hard it is to stop TACs when the character TACing is allowed to use all 3 directions to murder you.
if the game is allowed to progress naturally with no patches, infinites will become this game. Since everyone knows that a patch is coming, its going to affect the thought process of what people are actually willing to practice and use in tournaments. You’re left in a god like position if it hits and all you lose is 50k if it doesn’t. risk\reward kind of dictates that a majority of teams should play this way. Not every character can kill from every position, some characters need their best combo starters to hit to land a full kill. With TAC infinites, almost the whole cast is capable of landing kill combos from quite a few scenarios they couldn’t do before.
No, but many times it takes 2 connections to bring someone down.
This means you mix them up against post combo. The odds of a TAC landing are much greater than said mixup… and the rewards are better too.
A lot of characters can do over 600k from a throw and from random air hits. The latter being much more uncommon, I’m willing to bet that if you can convert from that position and relaunch into tac in the first place you are capable of a lot more. I’m also sure it wouldn’t be any harder than the TAC infinite would be at that point.
TACs are bad, inifinites are bad, potentially converting from sub optimal situations into tods is bad. We all agree on this and it needs to be removed. No one wants this in the game. My point is that people are acting like this is leagues beyond the stuff that is in the game out of the box and people are hitting these 100%. Combined with the fact that there is a patch coming, execution requirement, inherent break chance and most importantly the ease and damage of everything else in the game while unbalanced its not making too many waves yet. Given enough time I could see people mastering these but I don’t think that will happen.
I begin to see the problem. People may be saying that, but the people you currently are talking to aren’t that much, although FlyingVe really really hates TACs anyways.
Even then you could just do the infinite until you have 3/4 bars and kill with an unscaled level 3 like Mag’s or Dorm’s.
I can see maybe Day 1 or 2 people skeptical and still saying wait and see but when there were more midscreen TACs and multiple TAC directions leading to the infinite and now the Ammy TAC infinite confirming the minimum execution required should’ve sent up red flags and gone “this will only get worse”.
And I wouldn’t be holding my breathe for an immediate patch. The tweet said he was looking into fixing it, he still has to convince Capcom or maybe Capcom and Marvel that it’s worth spending the money on.
I sure hope as fuck they don’t patch this. The real problem the game has are TACs, X-Factor, Bullshit normals that have giant hitboxes and grant combos and Phoenix. So instead of getting rid of infinites, get rid of the damn TACs and made the game just slightly better.
why is it so hard to tech a TAC? now bear in mind im casual (ignorant) but it was my understanding that which direction TAC used gives different effects, and obviously certain characters have to use specific directions for combos
so to me that doesnt seem random, if you can guess which direction theyre gonna use, mashing that direction plus s as soon as you start getting air combo’d seems to work (for me) very very often, theyre not hard to time and its not like theres anything else you can do while youre eating hits
anyway mabye im just missing some simple facts
I’m curious on this one… I imagine anyone with a decent flight could do this?
I know Sent can do his midscreen, but I don’t know about off the up/side directions.
X23 can only do Medium characters Midscreen and not in the corner and only TAC down. she also can do big characters midscreen sideways and down. in the corner i believe only down.
That’s still patching it ><
I do think that’s the thing though, TACs are kind of the problem rather than infinites. The infinites just make the TAC thing more obvious.
