*This round is incredibly hard to predict for the reasons I state below in spoilers. With that said here’s how I think it’ll shake out:
Cruising to top 8: Annie, Beowulf, Marie.
Good chance at 8: Brain Drain, Panzerfist, Umbrella, Minette, Isaac.
Fighting for top 8: Eliza, Venus, Aeon, Dhalia, Stanly, Codette, Feng.
Long Shot: Molly
[details=Spoiler]* Round 2 has been pretty exciting, mostly because we’re starting to see a schism in who people wish to really vote for. I underestimated how much in fighting of the moe-division of voters would have led to a fractured voting. I’m seeing chatter of people hedging their bets by voting for the 1 (or 2) characters they want most and then using the third vote for a character they don’t like. The mindset behind this seems to be that if your character makes it in and the not really liked character make it in then their favorite will definitely make it to top 4. The secondary perk out of that line of thinking being that the 3rd vote in question will knock out your competition Ie: If you’re voting Minette and Annie then hopefully that third vote will knock out someone like feng.
Though this tactic seem to be wholly being employed by the moe voters. In direct contrast to moe voters are people backing a male character. At this junction it seems like if their favorite male doesn’t get in they’ll back any male character that does go far. This is highly highly interesting as the lack of solidarity of the moe division might lead to a darkhorse slipping through the cracks and gaining momentum. In particular I’m seeing Brain Drain gain a ton of steam in this round.
Unfortunately there is no brigade of women voters: Molly, Dahlia, Codette, Eliza, Aeon and Venus voters all seem to be splintered up. It’s nebulous when it comes to who like’s these characters, there is no overarching trend as far as I’ve read. I think these characters not having a big pool of supporters will hurt their chances of them gaining traction and waltzing into top 4. Which is unfortunate since to me they all have interesting gameplay potential. *[/details]
you really think eliza is gonna be fighting for top 8? what makes you think beowulf is gonna cruise into it? he looks and sounds about as interesting as a damp flannel to me. is it because he has a chair?
eliza has a great look and one of the more interesting mechanics which is what a lot of people are voting for. i would switch the two on your list tbh.
*Did you read what I put in the spoilers? It gives you reasons as to why I put the characters in places they’re in. But to put it bluntly I’m seeing a ton of love for Beowulf most out of all male characters currently. The other male characters are getting love too but I think Beowulf is leading them, yes even over Isaac. On the other hand as far as Eliza is concerned I’m not seeing as many people saying they voted for her in this round. Make no doubt I see people say they voted for her but I don’t think it’s been at the rate where I would say she has a “good chance” at making it to next round.
I voted for Eliza myself (along with Dahlia and Brain Drain), this isn’t about who I’d LIKE to see make it to next round. I agree that she has interesting potential (Donovon from VSAV type weapon stances is sick) but that doesn’t necessarily translate to other people voting for the same reasons. People are voting for a menagarie of reasons ranging from gameplay, aesthetics, gender representation in the game and for story elements. Beowulf from what I’ve seen is getting love for his aesthetic design, his wrestler motif and because he’s a male character. *
Eliza I think is taking this first vote for sure, she’s visually appealing and has good interesting gameplay mechanics. Beowulf’s popularity came out of nowhere to me. I don’t really get it, he just seems like better looking El Fuerte… but anyway, he’ll probably win the second vote (ugh). What I’m really hoping for though is that all this fanart and forum business is a just a small niche of loud people, and that there are a bunch of Dahlia lurkers lol.
I don’t see Beowulf cruising to top 8, certainly not passed Issac.
I think Marie will easily make it. I also think Issac and B. Dahlia are very likely to make it to the next level. The other character will be one of Annie/Umbrella/Minette (The top 4).
In the top 8 I also anticipate Panzerfaust, Eliza and Stanley, as 8th I’m not as sure, perhaps Brain Drain or Beowulf, maybe one of the smaller girls.
Beowulf is probably the most testosterone-filled character of the choices. Even more than Panzerfist. He could balance the male-female scale just by himself. He’s probably my second pick if Stanley doesn’t get through.
Yeah, I asked that question. Parasoul came to mind, but she’s not exactly a turtle character, she’s an aggressive (although versatile) rushdown character with standing overheads. I do see that Napalm Pillar is sort of like flash kick and Motorcycle Egret is sort of like Sonic Boom (never thought of that before to be honest) but I’m not really buying the comparison.
Love the outcome, except Dahlia (who I was hoping would win) didn’t make the cut. I’m not surprised at all that 4 male characters made it to top 8, though my underestimation of Stanley is really blatantly obvious at this point. I’m a little surprised (yet relieved) that Marie got knocked out, after the poll results saying Japan accounted for less than 10 percent of total votes I should have been wiser. I had Brain Drain pegged as the darkhorse of all darkhorses but he came up short.
Glad how everything shook out, if only Annie got the ax as well I’d be completely content. *
