Quick question, I had recently bought a Mayflash PCB prewired from an SRK member but when I received the thing, It only had one ground wire, it was the wire that was grouped together with the button wires. Would I have to daisy chain this thing along with the start/select/stick?

Yes.

That, or you can also get a special wiring harness just for this from Laugh at eTokki.

Goddammit, I would have used that harness if the wires weren’t hot glued. ;_;
Thanks for the answer.

Does anybody happen to know how or if you can solder the home and turbo buttons from a madcatz 360 te-s to work with this pcb?

i found this video is very helpful, it’s for the ps360 pcb but it’s really detailed on how to get the TE buttons to work with a pcb, any pcb.

Hello

First, I would like to thank you, Laugh (Mr. Ahn), I got the parts I ordered. Speedy delivery too, in a nice small package.

Secondly, does this guide work exactly the same for modding a Mayflash? I’ve got a PS2/PS3/PC USB Mayflash, I’ve read online that there has been a PCB revision in 2009, which seems cause trouble while modding. Can I go ahead and mod using your method, or are there additional things I must do?

For those that have modded it according to this guide, how does this stick hold up against the TE stick?

I’m trying to do this mod and am 95% done but am having troubles… Basically my JLF is behaving like it isn’t common ground, and I can only get the direction that the ground is connected to to work. In the example from the first post, only the up direction would function. I could get other directions working one at a time by changing which one the ground was connected to, but nothing else. Any ideas?

EDIT: AHA! Read through entire thread and found newer ones aren’t common ground. Gotta try to find a clean way to daisy chain them it seems!

EDIT 2: Aaaaand FINISHED. Will clean up my wiring whenever I move the PCB and hardware into a wooden case I plan on making, but right now everything seems to be working! Laugh, I got the Paewang joystick harness from you and spliced the wires into the JLF wire, but just as an idea, it’d be awesome if you made a harness that could directly connect the JLF to the Paewang plugs. I’d do it myself but I don’t know what the plug for the joystick on the PCB is called, does anyone happen to know?

Hey guys! First time modder. Got my Paewang PCB the other day, and was going to put this in a PS3 TE.

I just watched both parts of the video, and I noticed that all he did was place the wires he soldered (for Home and Turbo) right into the PCB with one ground going into the PS360.

In the case of the Paewang, however, would I need to splice the ground wire on the PS3 PCB into two separate ground wires (one for Turbo, one for Home)?

I spliced the ground coming out of the paewsng into the ps3 PCB as well as the red vcc line.

Suddenly my Paewang stopped working today. I’ve had it for over 6 months, and have been loving it, but today I turned on my XBox, and nothing.

I’m using a Macbook pro for my computer - is there a utility that I can use to test whether or not the inputs are actually coming through the USB, or do any other kind of troubleshooting? I can’t go back to a pad after working with a stick for so long, and I don’t want to fork over $150 to buy another stick!

No matter how much I try, for some reason or another my Paewang’s button 8 (or 10 when on Ps3 config) refuses to turn off. Does anyone know what button this is so I at least know where on the PCB I should be looking?

EDIT- Whoops. Nevermind. Switched out the start button wire by sheer luck and that was it.

I figured this would be the best thread to bring this up in:
I’ve noticed that there’s been a bit of asking of whether or not this stick (or PCB, rather) is compatible on PS2 games running on a PS3 with PS2 backwards compatibility.
I just had the opportunity to test out the PCB this weekend (my PS3 is not PS2 backwards compatible, but my brother’s is), and it’s it’s unfortunate that it ISN’T. So no PS2 games on a PS3 using this stick.

…and now, my inexperience will REALLY show off…

Where is the vcc line? From what I’m reading (Google, previous SRK threads, etc.), I’m guessing it would be the D+ (at least I think it looks like a D) solder point on the PS3 PCB.

haha no… its where the red wire of your usb is soldered to on your TE…
red - vcc
white - D-
Green - D+
thin black- ground
thick black - shield ground (ignore)

my latest with the paewang

I started to mod my Paewang and noticed when I opened it up that the connection to the buttons on the pcb looks a little different. The connection to the buttons use a white wire instead of the metal hooks, attached below is a picture.

This is my first mod so I’m not super experienced but if I understand everything correctly, with these wires connected directly to the button solder points, I can just solder a new wire onto the old one and then run the extended wire to my buttons. I’ve practiced soldering some so I know I could solder new wire directly to the pcb but I’d prefer to avoid it if possible.

One other question is I cannot seem to find any local stores that carry .110 quick disconnects. Would 3/16 work for sanwa buttons or should I just wait until I can find some .110 quick disconnects?

This thread has been an awesome resource and I’ll post my new stick once I finish.

Hi good afternoon toodles. The reason for my message is a problem I have with v1.4 and pcb KNsert paewang. I told him I connected with a stick led, Led Controller FGW and the pcb before and it worked perfectly named version of these is the former led to 1.4 and have had no problems. I made another stick with the same features but using 1.4, and leds do not light. Did you know this bug?. Do you have any solution?. I put a photo if I do not understand much Spanish and I use a translator sorry for the inconvenience a greeting thank.

Yo everyone. First off, big ups to the Paewang boards. I’ve been modding a long time, and these pcbs make it incredibly easy to either mod sticks or create your own. I’ve got a couple of questions that hopefully someone could answer.

First, I’ve noticed with two-three boards I’ve gotten that after wiring up everything the R2/RT button does not work. Everything else is good to go except R2/RT. I’ve searched through this thread and have only seen a couple of others mention this problem. Did anyone find something they were doing that might be causing this? I’ve been trying to find a short through using a multimeter, but everything seems good. The button also connects with ground when pressed and cuts connection when depressed. Is it possible I received a few bad boards? Maybe a corrupt flash on the board’s microcontroller?

Second, is there any simple means of testing these boards out of the box without wiring them up? I can connect them to the PC to make sure they’re recognized as USB devices, but I haven’t really found a way to check and make sure all the buttons are good to go.

Thanks in advance! And if anyone has any questions feel free to ask or message me. I used to work as a technician and have a decent knowledge of soldering and finding parts to help modding.

To do test, just take a short length of wire.
Strip both ends of the short wire.

Touch Ground and Signal of what you want to test.
