I’m not trying that, but just to add to this; The mayflash 09 pcb isnt common ground so i needed to solder 3 extra ground wires to the jlf. First tried soldering to the microswitches, and the solder didnt stick, so i used the pins.
Zombie - did it work out?
Zombie - I noted your post earlier. I would like to achieve the same results that you were after. Did the items that you asked about end up working out for you?
Cheers!
Quick Disconnect
And perhaps to ask a more direct question (which I haven’t been able to find the answer to), do the Quickdisconnect components remove the need to do any soldering?
Thanks!
Yes.
My Paewang has stopped working when I want to switch console, turbo function still works for buttons thou. Its currently on 360 mode but holding turbo while plugging it in to a computer/ps3 wont work, anyone know why ?.
Required parts
Thanks very much JDM.
Apologies in advance if I’m posting questions that have already been answered - I don’t see a definite answer, looking through the forums.
My aim is to mod a Paewang in order to have a decent fighting stick (thanks for nothing XBox 360 d-pad). I’ve got a Paewang purchased, and want to mod the buttons. This is what I have ordered in my cart:
1x Paewang Revolution
8x Crown CWB203A buttons
8x Crown CWB203C spacers
32x Crimp-on .110 Quick Disconnect
32x .110 Quick Disconnect sleeve
8x Crimp-on .187 Quick Disconnect
8x .187 Quick Disconnect sleeve
My questions are:
- I’m unsure as to what I need for a joystick. Can anyone advise me? What are the limitations of the Paewang (in terms of which sticks I can install without needing some serious modding)? Is a square actuator better than a circular one?
- Do I need to buy one of those rubber pads for the joystick?
- Do I need the spacers in order to install the buttons in the Paewang?
I think that’s it for now. Thanks so much for the responses - I’ve resisted buying a stick for years on account of price, but etokki’s prices make it feasible for me now. Sorry again if I’m duplicating previously asked questions, but when ordering over seas I’d like to make sure I’m on the ball.
Thanks!
What Joystick can go into the Paewang Case?
What does serious mean to you?
Sanwa and Seimitsu can.
Korean not yet.
Square is cooler.
It is standard.
Korean does not even have a Restrictor.
Rubber pads?
Does things for the Fanta Joystick?
If you want it, but it is only for Fanta Joystick.
Use Spacers for Button if you want to.
They only for the lazy who do not want to do a few more turns of the Nut.
But you are not buying Screw-in Buttons.
You have Snap-in Buttons in your list.
Can the Snap-in even mount to the Case?
You need a thickness of 10mm to mount.
Look how CWB203A are mounted.

I guess you can cut the Spacer to correct height if you want to use them.
You really need to be specific in your questions.
You will still need to solder.
For the wires from Paewang PCB going to Buttons.
End of the wire of course will have Quick Disconnect.
Or you do this weird way if no solder.
I don’t like it.
But oh well.
He shows it with the Directions.
But you can do same with the Buttons.
There is picture of someone doing it.
But I’ve not time to look for it right now; got to go.
Thanks for the links.
I’d like to ask more specific questions, but part of the problem is that I really don’t know what I’m doing (that’s probably obvious) - so I don’t know what the questions I should be asking are.
What I’m really after is to create a decent fighting stick, using the Paewang as the base, and with as little soldering work as required.
My understanding is that the buttons on the Paewang are pretty poor, so I understand I will need to change these.
Beyond this though, I don’t really know how I should approach this - I haven’t been able to find any basic tutorials (I saw Laugh’s initial tutorial at the start of this, but quickly got lost. And also, I wasn’t aware of limitations on the Paewang, such as what size buttons needed to be used to fit into the available holes).
So, maybe if you could just point me in the right starting direction, that will help me get started?
Thanks
i dont know if this has been said or not but is it possible to install a Taeyoung Fanta stick in the paewang revolution?
Hey laugh, do you know what the internal clearance is on a paewang? I’m trying to put some buttons in that require clearance of 65mm.
Im probably going to do this mod but I have a question:
Is this everything I need to do the mod?

As long as you have your basic equipment like Soldering irons and such. Have you ever used korean buttons before, or sanwa or seimitsu? Because, well i can’t really say either is better, ive never used crown buttons, but if you have a dremel handy and you know how to use it you could put 30mm buttons in. If you do want crown buttons for sure, and you do have basic tools like soldering iron, you’re well set.
I’m having some trouble. I followed this tutorial saving I used a JLF-H Harness. I did my best to wire the wires in the correct fashion but I seem to only be getting up and down inputs on the joystick. Laugh’s guide has his wires Black, Yellow, Green, Red, Orange and mine are Yellow, Red, Green, Orange, Black. If we considered them to be numbered mine match his exactly but, I can’t figure out what I did wrong.
Your Harness isn’t teh same in the picture.
Maybe your Black wire is in the right of the connector?
Here the Sanwa Harness: Joystickkabel JLF-H - Arcadeshop.de
Pinout from the left (topview, connector is facing you): 1 - Black - Ground, 2 - Green - Up, 3 - Yellow - Down, 4 - Orange - Left, 5 - Red -Right
The black wire is GND.I made the same error.

The black spots are GND. The red spots are Signal.
Check your pcb, because the new ones are non common ground. meaning you can only complete the circuit for the direction with the ground wire. you need to wire a ground from the jlf pcb (the other 3 points) to the mayflash. i think 2009 is non common ground and 2007 is common ground. youd also need to cut the ground traces
Great … Looks like I’ll be trying to figure that out when I get home.
This appears to be a guide to what I need to do though.

I’ve used 2 Paewang pcb and this tutorial to connect the controls of my arcade cab to my xbox 360.
The controls works on a pc and I tested all buttons and all seemed fine.
But when I connect it to my xbox I can only start up with the The XB logo button.
It doesn’t seem to recognise the pcb.
I hope it’s not the latest 360 update but someting I can solve…
Anyone had this problem?
Edit: Just hen I posted this I got an email back from etokki saying that I should hold the turbo button to configure it to xbox mode.
RTFM if I only had one
It’s been a while since i looked into buying a full paewang stick to mod, but has there been any more shops/internet stores that sell this stick? I remember that i was going to get one from overseas, but the shipping was going to kill it for me.
I finished my stick. Big shoutouts to Laugh for his guide. Thanks to everyone in this thread for sharing their experiences and information.
