How good are the buttons and joystick on the revolution? worse, better, the same as the hori fs3? I wouldn’t mind getting one, then swapping the stick/buttons when they wear out.
Also, anyone from canada ordered one from etokki? how much was shipping?

The buttons are crap. The stick is pretty shit as well (the balltop doesn’t seperate from the shaft, lol). In my opinion, both should be replaced immediately.

I have done this 3 times, once with sanwa stick and buttons and twice with sanwa stick and crown buttons.

I happened to really like the crown buttons that LAUGH used. If you want to save a couple bucks try the Crown buttons out. Also, you don’t have to chop up your case, which is a nice bonus.

hi guys,

I was thinking about buying this stick (this one actually http://www.amazon.fr/JOYSTICK-ARCADE-STICK-FIGHTING-TEKKEN/dp/B003JB7HOY/ref=pd_sim_sbs_vg_1) for modding.

What’s your opinion about it after 11 pages ? Is it worth the price ? is modding easy ?

I want to use it on xbox 360 and pc (maybe also xbox 1 if I can manage a usb to xbox pad adapter - if you know any, I’d be glad to know)

Can it be modded with sanwa clippable osbf-30 buttons ? what’s the best to use using this box ? do you have to buy an additional 8 ways restricter like this one http://www.starcab.net/product_info.php?products_id=179&language=en ?

does anyone have a complete list of what’s required ? the best website to buy from ?

If you know anyone in France that builds and sells sticks, I’d be glad to contact them.

God save the stick !

Just the PCB is worth the price because there’s nothing at that price that will work for PS3 and XBOX360, not to mention the fact that you don’t have to solder or hack anything.

Modding is easy if you know what you are doing. Sanwa snap-ins can be put in as long as you enlarge the holes of the case a little with a rotary tool or sandpaper. The octogate can also be put on with some modification. (Do a search)

As for the verdict on the case, it’s not a great case. The size is nice but it’s too light and the top isn’t a metal panel. Layout is a bit weird as well. However, at that price that’s all you should expect. If this was all I could afford I could live with it after adding a few hundred pennies in there to beef it up.

first of all, thx for your quick answer !
what buttons would you recommend ? I’ve seen the crown buttons on this thread, I’d give them a look.

I though the top was a metal panel, as in the mayflash stick (or at least what I understood).
I’m not good enough (and don’t have time) to build my own case, but the fact that it’s plastic is a bit disappointing.
But as you mentionned, the multi-support PCB was a real advantage (if it’s full functional).

Any other thoughts about it ?

i modded my datel arcade stick, its almost identical to the mayflash stick, so look at the tutorial by laugh it has everything u need.
btw 30mm sanwas and seimitsus fit if you sand the holes a bit, which i did.

I put sanwa buttons and a sanwa JLF in mine.

The only problem i had was expanding the holes to 30mm from 28mm, they still arent perfect. Other than that the case isn’t bad and the pcb is the solid gold part of it

I have not found “octo” and alternates using the thread search. I’ll try restricter and other keywords later (seeing how you have to wait 1 minute between searches).
If any of you did use a 8ways restricter (better for circle moves and thus fighting games), I’d like to hear about it.

See you guys !

Bill, try to keep the joystick and square gate and see if you can get used to it. I’m not saying it will be easy and for some people, they never do. However, after a month or so, I got used to it and it really helps a lot when using charge characters, and blocking properly. The only character I can’t use is Zangief but I’ve never had the patience to use him anyway so it’s all good.

As for the buttons, if you have an opportunity to try out Sanwas and Seimitsus first to see which one you like, that would be ideal. If not usually Sanwas are a safe bet. I’ve never met anybody who was disappointed in Sanwas for their first time.

Yah the plastic is a little disappointing, but it’s not too bad when you play on it. I’m not too rough on my buttons but I didn’t notice any bending or discomfort. Only the light weight, which can be fixed by stacking some pennies and taping them inside the case.

Hey guys, I need a little help. I wired one of these pcb’s and I’m having some problems. All the buttons work and the stick works fine too but I’m having problems with the start, select, home and turbo contacts, they’re not working. I had soldered the wires to the right side contact for each one and when I plugged it in, it automatically acts as if I pressed the guide button and when I pressed any of those buttons, they don’t respond. I just hit the B button to get back to the game. I have removed the wires from those contact points but now I don’t have start, select, home and turbo working at all. Any ideas? I’d appreciate ANY help possible. Thanks guys =]

You supposed to solder to left side.

These look quite promising. Tempted to pick one up as my 2p stick for pc usage. Possibly put a seimitsu stick and sanwa/seimitsu buttons in it for proper play. Hmm… decisions decisions, maybe i should get a 360 first :stuck_out_tongue:

thank you and jdm74, I’ll give it a look. I’ve ordered the stick, now it’s time to get the sanwa stick+buttons and all the wires/connectors. I’d like to use a harness like the one in the first page, it seems nice.

As for the buttons I don’t have the possibility to test them, and i guess I’ll go for sanwas.

Regarding the restricter, I’m able to pull off zangief’s 720 using the x360 pad, I guess it should be ok for the 4 ways restricter. Does any one have a clear idea on the actual needs and benefits of the 8 ways restricter ?

see you guys !

If you are going to be using a Sanwa Joystick, then disregard those links.

You asked to install a Sanwa GT-Y.
So I gave you links on how to install that on stock Joystick.

And 4-Way Restrictor for Fighting Game?
That be impossible.

You know you only be moving LEFT, UP, RIGHT, DOWN?
Only thing be able to do is Sonic Boom and Flash Kick and other moves of that style.

8-Way is LEFT, UP, RIGHT, DOWN, UP-LEFT, UP-RIGHT, DOWN-LEFT, DOWN-RIGHT.
Can do anything.

Did you know that a Square, which has four sides, is 8-Way?

Well, I’m actually asking for “what joystick do I have to buy to play fighting games” ?
I was going for the JLF-TP-8Y-SK, but I’m not sure if it’s ok or if I have to buy a GT-Y.
Is this stick already ok for all 8 directions ?

English isn’t my natural language and my comprehesion of this thread might be imperfect, same for my questions

Yes the JLF-TP-8Y is already ready for all 8 directions!

what is your natural language?

thank you for this answer. The doubt came with the screenshot on first page wuth the white/transparent plastic part next to the stick, I thought it was a restricter.

My natural language is french

Do you know of a website that ships worldwide, or at least in europe ?
I was planning to buy the parts on starcab.net but I don’t know if it’s expensive or ok.
Any recommendations for electronic wires/connectors/harness/anything ?

Well I bought ma Sanwa parts from arcadeshop.de

But I don’t know which shop is best for you, depends on the transportation costs.
