So, since there been a lot about potentially rough matchups, what about match ups you think are going to edge towards her favor or at least trend even? Granted they could have just been subpar, but Honda doesn’t seem too bad for her. Her fireball seems to stop headbutts pretty good, I was stuffing them without really trying half the time, I even beat out his EX one at times.
Ive pretty much fought the whole cast a lot except for Hakan, Sim, Guy, Seth, Fuerte. Gen and Boxer.
Im thinking Honda is decently favorable. I’ll even say Hugo, Gief, and Mako until she closes the gap. I also din’t think Boxer would be too bad.
I’m thinking as it stands she’s going to have more bad matchups then good.
I had to switch characters vs gouken. His normals seem to have a lot more priority than hers. Adon shuts down her options unless she has a fierce AE on the screen. I think the balrog match up could be in poison’s favor if you can keep making him lose charge and mess up his turn punches by mixing up fireballs. I think her issue is if a character forces her to lose her spacing imo.
Ken is a problem child I think. He can just press whatever he likes as far as I can see? Kicks through AA’s and just goes mental. Im going to add to this post. Balrog just goes ballistic on Poison. Literally abused.
Actually I also feel like that is her problem. If she loses spacing its GG. ALSO, Dudley rocks her Fucking world. The buffs he got really let him swing the matchup his way. Twins, Ken, ERyu , Adon , Gouken I know for a fact so far have a huge advantage.
Even Ryu is kind of a pain. His J.Rh is a nightmare.
Also, Elena wins the footsie war. Her slide can beat any fireballs from just inside max range. She can be .02567 inches in and if she slides it will beat each of the normal ones. Don’t know about EX.

In terms of who I think she has an advantage against, pretty much all the grapplers are going to hate her. Hugo in particular really struggles due to his size and lack of ways to deal with projectiles without meter. Mixing up your fireballs works against Gief too if he tries to just Lariat stuff at range.
I think Dhalsim will be in Poison’s favor too, he kinda struggles to poke when she’s using her fireballs at shields and her normals have good enough range to follow up on him after a fireball hits his limbs at mid to max range.
I’m unsure about Rolento or Cody, I fought them a lot yesterday and was a bit annoyed with Cody’s weird bad stone level 2 glitch.
Has anyone fought the twins yet? I’m curious how she does against Yun/Yang and Rufus.
I got blown up by a rufus earlier today. Went into training mode afterward, and 3-button tech with MP or HP seems to work pretty well against the" Am I gonna throw of dive kick again?!" shenanigans.
I feel like she gets mauled badly by divekick characters. Yun and Rufus in particular are probably going to be her worst matchups, they don’t really care about her fireballs, her DP isn’t a reliable get off me, and she can’t keep up with their damage so the amount of work you have to do in comparison with the little they have to do is just unreasonable. Not a good time. I haven’t fought any Yangs yet but I can’t imagine him being any different.
As for good matchups, Rolento is a pretty easy time in my experience. Poison outranges him pretty convincingly and if he tries any pogo shenanigans she can just Ultra 1 that shit. All of the charge characters feel somewhat in her favor too, with maybe Chun and Vega going 5-5. In particular I think she does well against Bison and Balrog. All the shotos feel at least even as well.
Sim seems hard. His ability to keep her out while raping her hp fireball with air tele ports.
Sagat can go blow for blow with the fireballs. And his normals can compete with hers.
Akuma eryu and oni can negate the fireball war with the red fireball and have good normals and walk speed to make the spacing hard to control.
Kens improved walk speed helps to get in considering poison has Kens old walk speed and Ken is now considerably faster then ryu for example. His j.hp and hk and lk have better priority against her AA’s. His fireball is ass but his speed and Kara focus dash let’s him close distance. Think about it, Ken just has to do one kara focus absorb dash in, an instant jump in, and it will either get in because poison blocked, beat an AA or trade and Ken loses like 70-100 dmg, only option poison has is air to air hk, but even then the advantage is all Ken.
Ryus similar to Ken except his j.hk is better.
Gouken is like 10-0 for him
Hugo has no chance.
Geif with the improved lp gh and the projectile invincible ex gh, combined with his j.hp and lk allow him to avoid the fireball game.
T hawks dives are challenging.
Balrog isn’t hard at all, mix up the fireballs and AA him and he has trouble.
Bison seems challenging with his good normals and ex pc and ex sk, his j.mp and head stomp are annoying
Okay. Seriously, I lied about guile being her worst match up. Holy crap, is it beat impossible to fight viper. Poison gets bodied by pressure characters and viper absolutely mauls her.
Eh, yes and no. You have to be extremely patient (you’re going to have to do this for alot of match ups). Neutral jump alot at mid far range. Jump back hard kick to beat any instant jump burn kicks. Basically, the way to beat her is to play extremely lame which is dumb. The good thing is your normals beat her cr.mk, and once you have your knockdown, the match swings in your favor.
Maybe this is mostly because I’ve mained Viper since vanilla. Yes this matchup is bullshit, but not as dumb as abel where you can’t do shit against st.short and step kick with your normal set.
Poison is free to Bison. All I do against her is build meter with DR then sit on down back. Ex Scissor her fireballs or crouch fierce her jumps. Shit is free.
I completely agree on how dumb that MU is. It’s ridiculous. I’m just getting by on j.Hk in that match, whether forward, neutral or back. If you do a normal it gets blown the smithereens.

Anyone have any tips vs Makoto and Vega? Makoto makes me scared to do anything once she has ultra and I feel like I can’t press any buttons at all against Vega and Dudley.
Ok, from my experience so far Gouken, Guy, E-Ryu, Blanka, Vega, Decapre, Yun and Juri are all pretty rough matchups… And I haven’t even played against everyone yet ~__~
Characters with good options against fireballs or good quick buttons I feel leave Poison with very little to work with… some characters combine both (ie: Vega, Gouken) which is a real pain coz at that point I don’t even know where I want to be on the screen to be comfortable coz it feels like everywhere is ass lol.
Favorable IMO so far are Honda, Hugo, Rolento, Deejay. Rog, Makoto and Cody also feel favorable to an extend.
I find rushdown incredibly effective against Makoto, you just have to make sure you don’t let up for a second or allow her to cmd grab, at the moment the momentum switches to Makoto’s favour you’re on the back foot. You really need to abuse her poor wakeup game too. It feels a bit better now but don’t be afraid to go in extremely hard. I find LMT mixups tend to do well here as it’s only -1. it’s pretty abusable for free pressure.
So I looked at my matchup statistics. I have a 75% win rate against yun (WTF) and I have a 0% against rose and abel.
Ugh, I hate both of those characters. Rose, she has a 4 frame cr.mp that beats all of my main pokes, and I feel she does everything poison does better so I can’t outzone her and hope to outfootsie her.
Abel is just…yeah. That character is really dumb in general.

Fireballs actually are your friend here, mix them up with HP and fullscreen MP ones to stop her from reflecting. This way you gain meter and she doesn’t. I usually throw out more HP ones than Lp or MP ones in this matchup.
Once you get that meter you really only need to land one poke xx EX LMT and you’re in. This ofcourse doesn’t net you the win or anything but atleast you’re in at this point and free to continue pressure.
And Basically just keep bullying her on wakeup man. Hoe that helps
