Ignition wants to IMPROVE KOF netplay. CALLING ALL OF SRK! BE HEARD NOW!

If you have to ask, then nothing probably happened. Every time Ignition has posted some sort of message about this game, someone here is usually quick enough to copy/paste it for us to read.

All the flaming of kof12 is uncalled for imo over the netcode. I mean how did we survive playing games before the internet? Games that were made 6 years ago wasn’t online on consoles but I think they were pretty good. Games like MvC2 must have really sucked because there was no online play. I will agree that the netcode needs serious work because I get laggy matches playing against someone in the same city!!! This game is so great minus the netcode that I haven’t touched sf4 seriously since its been out. I had a tournament this past weekend and kof12 was mad hype! I wouldn’t judge this game off the online gameplay.

I have a suggestion. I don’t know if the stages are too interactive/animated and maybe that is screwing with the netcode. Maybe they should make some simple stages for online to try and help the lag issuses. I know when I play sf4 online I play on the practice stage because it has less moving parts.

The movements on the stage are pretty irrelevant to the overall lag; maybe it might affect FPS on your side, but other than that, it shouldn’t make a huge difference in the online play. (It’s probrably not even synched between players, most of the stages only have 1-2 motions with special stuff showing up near the end of rounds).

The problem with the netcode is simple, it’s designed for people close to one another to have a stable connection, that combined with japan’s STRONGER consumer broadbands nullifies any need for them to have a different netcode.

Overall, it’s meh…

SNK deserves the flames. Netplay is the future, as much as oldschoolers like you try to deny it. I’ve seen general videogame discussion threads, most of your new tourney players- have gotten their base to compete from XBL, PSN, or even GGPO in some cases. If your game ain’t mad popular, you need netcode to get new players the base to compete. Even the SNK tournies you held at FR, most of the winners of the oldschool KOF and stuff, came from the netplay ranks.

Yeah, this game is awesome- but netplay would allow a lot more people to see the awesomeness.

They deserve criticism and they deserve to be told what we consumers want. They do not deserve “flames”. Iori deserves his 98 flames though, which I think they were going to do (98 Iori) had they not turned this game into a dream match.

Very simple… many of us didn’t play back then. I didn’t get hardcore into fighters until cvs2 on xbox in 2003 then later kaillera(lol)/ggpo/2df. Every since fighting games got online the community exploded and many of us are here because of online play.

I do notice that sometimes the background moves perfectly while online while the fighters are jumping all over the place doing attacks I input 10 seconds ago :stuck_out_tongue:

this game is great but the netcoding is really disappointing. I played people with blue and yellow bars and there is like a full second input lag.

Overall the only thing I can do now is play arcade mode and go into training mode to fiddle around with stuff but no one i can play irl. Honestly I was really hyped up about this game but without people to play with (and horrible netcoding) it’s the most dissapointed ive been in a videogame for a long long long time. I mean yeah the game can still survive standalone but it just won’t have much more of a fanbase than it deserves. Nowadays it’s almost a standard to have decent online gameplay but damn the netcoding on this is just THAT bad.

I’ll try the game out more online to see if i can get lucky but i’m not expecting miracles T_T

I notified that as well with blue bars giving input lag. Very disappointing indeed.

So, is the netcode still going to be fixed or not? I’ve been playing it smart lately and not picking up games until I hear positive feedback on them. It’s kinda funny, I was more worried with BlazBlue having shit netcode than KoF 12.

Ya know I almost got OCV’d yesterday because of the lag.

…sound common?

NO, it was because THERE WAS NO LAG against this one guy; and holyfuck I wasn’t ready for the speed T_T (I made a comeback and OCV’d him with Kyo :D).

I have to say it’s getting slightly better, maybe they’re throwing up more servers? (I doubt it)

Reynald said yesterday he played some dude and he could not detect any input lag at all and the game was playing at full speed.

All the hate for this game is uncalled for. The netcode isnt on par of other games but some of the posters here act like this problem can not be fixed. We live in a different era of gaming. Everything gets patch and SNKP/Ignition has already went on record stating that they will fix this issue. People act like SNKP has no plans on fixing it. I havent touched SF4 since this game has been out too. The gameplay is just amazing.

Im entering a KOF12 and SF4 tournament on the 15th. I havent even practiced SF4 since KOF12 came out. Im gonna do horrible.

If they did that he would be too similar to Kyo.
Variety in Character’s special moves is a good thing.

According to the interview thread: “Characters change” I remember sitting there for ten minutes after reading that part of the interview thinking. “WHAT CHARACTER?! WHEN?! WHAT FUCKING GAME?!” and then I thought “Well shit, they only ever change in the KOF series”.

Iori doesn’t really need flames as much as a just a projectile of some sort, I could actually use him then.

Zoning isn’t very important in this game, especially the Kyo/Iori projectiles from 95’, they’re on the ground so all it takes is a hop if you’re too close to Roll safely.

Granted when I started playing '98 with a friend it was turtle galore, but I hardly ever use projectiles apart from wakeup games on him anymore.

The mechanics of the game, coupled with the reduction in heavy projectile characters, coupled with the minute long round time really discourage zoning and turtling, and really encourage RTSD and offense, but still allows you to plan your strats and make calculated and careful decisions without taking it to an extreme level (I’m looking at you BB).

If you turtle, time will be over before you know it. If you try to zone, you’ll very likely get super jumped into a combo.

Well-

reads Keits post

nevermind

Well…

Reads an official statment.

Nevermind.

I use the projectiles to get people to jump, not to hit them lol…
