Ignition wants to IMPROVE KOF netplay. CALLING ALL OF SRK! BE HEARD NOW!

We went to arcades. Arcades in the United States are dead, which means the only way to find competition in these games is to invite friends over or to find them online, obviously having thousands of people to play against online is preferable to trying to convince my friends (many of which aren’t even gamers) to come play a fighting game with me in my living room whenever I want to play.

This is particularly a problem in fighting games because the 1p challenges are usually not nearly as interesting as playing against an actual human.

Sadly, for 99%+ of players, “find an arcade” is not a realistic option. Time to step into 2009!

I dunno…I think they might be able to get something done. I might be wrong on this, but they might be up against Japan’s greatest secret: pride/face. Even though most japanese are raised to not be dicks, admitting a mistake is a loss of face. A lot of supervisors/higher-ups in Japan pull shit Az is familar with: even when a fuckup is OBVIOUSLY their fault, instead of admitting it, fixing it, and moving on, they want to save face, and insist that they made no mistake. YOU did, and you should either fix it yourself (“fix your NAT settings, customers!”), or just deal with it and shut up. SNK ate the first L.O.F. rather graciously with the first patch. Releasing a second patch is an even BIGGER loss of face because it makes them look incompetent in even correcting their mistakes. Massive loss of face. That lowers their chances of actually doing it, just so they come off as not being fuckups.

If that’s true that they wanna save face that’s fine by me, they can get they’re kids tuition money from some other chump then because I don’t have the heart to support a company that’ll just piss in your eye at the end of the day :coffee:

Well, for XII, SNK kinda needs the American market some to recoup costs.

As long as SNK learns from the mistakes and moves forward, at least that’s something. Usually SNK doesn’t repeat the same mistake over and over, they just make all new ones each time.

As far as I know, this is the Japanese version of that announcement: http://game.snkplaymore.co.jp/official/kof-xii/consumer/info/info01.html. It doesn’t say anything about NAT settings; in fact only the red text seems to be about the online, and it says something like ‘online will be dealt with at a later date’. I think Ignition just added the part about forwarding ports since a lot of people don’t do it in the USA.

Well that’s the thing, Hops make this tactic almost completely useless.
Not to say you can’t use it for your advantage, but I wouldn’t call it something to stop playing Iori over.

could I get a summary? For some reason the Ignition forums never load for me.

Here you go. Quick copy and paste.

I read these forums way more than I should actually. I know SNKP used to follow these forums to make sure I never gave away any secrets but whether or not they still do I don’t know.

Anyway, it’s been more than obvious what’s wrong with KoF for close to a year now. SNKP was/has been made aware of this since the start and they’ve never bothered to make necessary changes to bring XII up to an acceptable quality. You’ll have to draw your own conclusions as to why that is because I dare not say.

Who knows the truth of what’s going on, Ignition is also claiming that the new netcode that is being worked on is “promising”

Ignition has nothing to gain from lying to the people who already paid- the key is to keep us happy to get others to buy/ or for us to get KOFXIII.

It’s amazing how laggy this game is online. Feels like I’m playing in slow mo. Even more amazing that it was released like this in the first place…

True that, man. I got my ass handed to me b/c of that crap…my only saving grace was a “preemptive” Mature game. Online is so horrible even with the netcode. Why bother wasting time in training mode, then?

It’s playable (but not totally full speed) as long as you forward your ports and only play yellow connections with no reds in the room. Also, quit dling stuff during matches. If it were truly as bad as you people say I would have stopped playing months ago, but just like Tekken 5dro, more exaggerations, or people who don’t bother to check their opponent’s connections. No doubt the netcode NEEDS to be fixed, but it’s not unplayable if you take some responsibility for finding decently connected players and making sure YOUR connection isn’t shit as well. It’s not good, but it IS playable most of the time. I had 4 near-full-speed matches just 20 or so minutes ago. Don’t take this for a thumbs-up, though: We fucking NEED better code, but this will hold me over until something DECENT comes along. Not only do we need more stable code, we need something to compensate for idiots who haven’t port forwarded, or are playing while torrenting, or just have bad connections.

I’m wondering though…how can they test it without being “in the field”. Intranet isn’t a good way to test true internet connectivity, just like you can’t train to swim in the ocean by going to a community pool, or train to win a mma bout with Lesner by hitting a punching bag.

I don’t know, Lesner is kind of a punk ass, that lost to Frank Mir’s pussy ass Arm Bar in their first meet.

You could swim for like 4 hours straight in the community wave pool to practice for the ocean!

And I’m sure a major corporation is smart enough to not use the intranet connection in their offices to test it, they probrably released some type of beta in japan and are working and tweaking it.

Can’t call him a pussy if YOU haven’t fought the guy he lost to, can you? Armchair athletes are no substitution for the real thing. Not a fan of mma, I’m just saying. When someone loses, everybody’s quick to go “I would’ve”, even thought the dude that lost had conditioning, training, weight, and strength over them in spades, and they would’ve folded even SOONER than the person they deride. But I’m getting off-topic a little bit here. Sorry.

Well I would like to welcome the rest of te usa to the hell the southeast players have be going through for the past 6-10 years. The arcade scene been dead in the southeast for atleast 6-10 years now, so you are not tellng me anything I don’t know sir. We had this problem years ago, but still found a way to play our games without online play. I agree that kof12 needs an online overhaul, but i will continue to play the game if the online is good or not. Yes the online need to be good, but with the abillity to patch this should be corrected soon. If not they will doom kof12 before it has a chance to survive in tournament play.

No no, I hated Lesnar BEFORE he lost to Mir, in UFC 100 he beat Mir in the first round.

Soo it had nothing to do with his loss.

!!! Chyeah totally internet overhaul! KOF12 would be awesomesauce…but oh well.

idk if anyone mentioned this already, but I don’t like I how I have to jump through 3 or 4
screens to see if I have a good connection with a player or not.

I would like to see what good of a connection I’ll have with someone before I join a room.
But of coarse, if the patch really does fix the netcode and possibly makes it up to par with
SFHD, that won’t really matter…hmmmmmm…

Mindboggle?

Hopefully SNK delivers something more ‘incredible’ than ‘promising’. If not, hopefully the game trades in for roughly the same price of PS3 MvC2 at Gamestop.
