Ok guys, it’s no secret that KOF netplay, to put it nicely, is simply not nice. I’m sure you all would like to change that fact, so here is your chance.
I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that you all would prefer GGPO in KOF. Let’s not settle for less. You MUST make these guys HEAR YOUR VOICES. We’ve said it before but look at how things are today. It is clear that the companies are listening. So speak out!
Let Ignition know that you want GGPO in your KOF. Tell them why you cant stand “playing underwater” or “playing through molasses”. Tell them you think the game is not worth the price because of the poor shoddy netplay. Tell them you won’t accept anything less. Tell them, what it is you feel.
And be smart about it. Be civil. Be respectful. And I know this is probably a little bit difficult, but be as eloquent as possible. As Ponder said, a bunch of “co-signs”, “seconded”, or long quoted posts with “^ this” are not going to cut it.
Right now we have unprecedented consumer power. Companies WANT to find guaranteed ways to make money in a time like this. Tell them that you are willing to pay, but only for quality. Tell them what you want. And rally all your friends. I’m gonna do the same.
Edit: I apologize for my barbaric language. However Ignition should use take into consideration how great the GGPO netcode is, and we the people they listen to should tell them what we really want, and that is GGPO netcode so they improve the netplay of KOF12.
Well, Shane Bettenhausen (Director of Business Management at Ignition, and former employee of EGM/1UP/Ziff Davis) has said that he is very interested in using GGPO. It’s convincing SNK that is the hard part. But what does bring me some hope is that Shane is not going to take this lying down; he comes from the press (reviews, news) side of things and I am sure he is not happy at all. That can only drive him to make something good happen.
Indeed. I’ve been posting links to ggpo’s about page in their feedback topics, along with any news on their netcode as well as opening topics on it on their forums. There’s absolutely nothing to loose to just try and get GGPO.
Yeah, my purchase is basically dependent on the netcode. If it ends up being good, I’ll buy and play the hell out of this game, and do whatever I can to promote it. If not, I won’t buy it. I’ll still play it locally but I just won’t have the drive to try and get people behind it; it won’t be worth it.
We all know SNK isn’t going to do a damn thing about the netcode, this is all just PR/Desperation from Ignition trying to salvage sales by planting false hope about “patches” and “improved netcode” in the future.
