Ignition wants to IMPROVE KOF netplay. CALLING ALL OF SRK! BE HEARD NOW!

Fortunately I have a shit-ton other games to play for SNKP to get their stuff together. I’ll be optimistic and say that they’ll come through.

Alright, so you misinterpreted something I said apparently.

Well everybody is dissapointed by this, but someone from another forum mentioned that playing in SPARRING mode will help the latency be less. I tried this out with people in my list I used to have “playable lag” and after doing this I had almost perfect games. I was playing 55 to 60fps games with no problem. I don’t know why playing in Sparring mode helps, but it does for some damn strange reason. Dunno if you guys want to try this out, I doubt this will be a solution or fix, but it’s an alternative for now.

I played 4 hrs none stop yesterday like this and it was a blast, so hope this helps to some, at least with your nearby friends.

As sad as it may be, this is pretty much false. Call up any customer service line with a serious issue and be polite about it and you won’t get very far.

Start cursing up a storm, demand to speak to higher ups, let people know you’re raging pissed, and your shit gets solved a lot quicker.

Believe me I wish it weren’t the case, but it definitely is.

That sounds like a great way to get your food spit into when ordering at a restaurant.

I think you missed the point. You can be politely persistent without being an asshole.

I’m sorry but this comment here is so naive and fucking retarded it almost makes me as furious as I am with the game (or more precisely, Online) itself.

Early adopter? This isn’t the latest tech gadget or system. It’s a damn videogame on established systems. Of course most “logical” people expected there to be some hiccups with online play when a game is first released. It happens. What we didn’t expect is to be playing in fucking underwater matches and then be told to stick to 2 players only and check your NAT settings. Total bullshit. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the netcode isn’t poor, it’s a damn EMBARRASSMENT in this day and age. How could any developer who gives a shit about the people buying their product release such a game with such terrible netcode?

“…so you have no reason to be salty at the developer.”

WHAT!? Most of us probably bought this due to online play. Single player is practically non-existent and a lot of us aren’t lucky enough to have local multiplayer matches, competitively at least. Online is practically unplayable. Therefore, for a lot of us, this game is unplayable. The box says it has online multiplayer. It’s an incomplete and falsely advertised game at this point IMO.

You can get off your high horse because if everyone sent a polite letter to SNKP saying “Hey great game! Thanks for everything you’ve done! Hopefully you fix things up more!” jack diddly shit would get done. I say if some of us want to vent on an internet forum, let us vent. We spent money on this game, and I believe most of us are very passionate about this game, hence why we’re so upset. The mechanics are GREAT. The gameplay is fun. But that doesn’t help us when online is in its current state.

We’re all pulling for fixes to happen, but with each piece of BS SNKP is spewing out, along with their past track record, it’s hard to get our hopes up too high. This is a textbook way of how NOT to release a game.

Anyway, I’m done talking about it until they fix things. I’ll go back to SFIV. Sorry if I’m shitting this thread up, I’m just pissed because this game has/had so much potential and it’s being blown.

This is serious so gimme a quarter
I was a witness, get me a reporter
call April O’Neil in on this case
And you better hurry up, there’s no time to waste
We need help like quick, on the double
Have pity on the city, man, it’s in trouble
We need heroes like the Lone Ranger
When Tonto came pronto
when there was danger
They didn’t say they’d be there in half an hour
cuz they possessed
Turtle Power!

lots of truth here and equally understandable frustration.

I was never into KOF but I bought this game wanting to learn it, after messing around in training mode and playing a little single player the fighting engine itself seemed solid as could be, and then I entered online and it all went to hell.

I still catch glimpses of how awesome this game is on the occasion I find good matches but with more and more people giving this game up its getting harder and harder.

SNK needs to understand the fans outrage and fix the problem immediately, with proper online this game could become huge because the game itself is amazing IMO, but none of this matters when I search 20 minutes to find a decent connection only to have it dropped halfway through the match.

I agree with Blades1, we bought a game that is supposed to have an online functionality, and that functionality isn’t working as it’s supposed to.

We have a right to complain about this, being polite is ok, but after the “NAT” comment, I guess it’s no longer an option, and shouting/shit storm mode on/flaming might become the most viable option.

It’s as if you bought Little Big Planet, and the world sharing system online wasn’t working, getting stuck with the few offline levels, to me.

I’m sorry, xybur, but I think that, at this point, nerd rage is inevitable. People have paid 60 dollars for a 20 dollar game. There is no two ways about it. KoF 98UM on XBLA has more content than this, and as I understand, slightly better netcode. When consumers get screwed over on that scale, they tend to get pissed. And in the video game world, the whole “early adopter” argument doesn’t really hold water. When games are released to retail, they tend to be the final product, or very close to it. Especially coming less than a month after BlazBlue’s release, KoF12 is embarrassing. Yes, BB’s netcode wasn’t the near perfection it is today right out of the box, but it was still passable, and the patch released after a couple of days fixed all problems with no ill side effects in terms of gameplay. SNK’s patch fixed almost no problems and ended up breaking parts of the actual gameplay. That is unacceptable, period. Developers who approach their games with that kind of lackluster effort should not be supported. It’s true, there’s no need for profanity and rudeness, but fans can’t beat around the bush anymore either. Either fix this game, or don’t expect us to pick up your next rushed “effort”.

I think it’s rather telling that I’m THIS angry and I don’t even own the game.

**1ST AND LAST WARNING - Get this flaming and bickering out of this thread, which exists to plea to Ignition/SNKP to get things fixed. Keep it constructive and take your bickering to a new thread. **

The rollback technique that GGPO and backbone uses would help smooth things out a bit.

I can’t recommend my friends to get buy this game unless it gets better netcode.

So after the SF4 fiasco, i’m of the camp that will no longer support fgs with half assed netcode. Luckily i was really busy during the release of kof12, or i would’ve bought it on release. Now, i’m prob not gonna pick it up until there’s a price drop.

So…update, anyone? Is Ignition still just talking to SNK, or has SNK listened and started working on a solution?

Neither

You don’t know that. I was asking if anyone had an update, not a pessimistic guess. You’re about as negative as the ass-end of a Duracell, you know that?

Didn’t think much work gets done over the weekend.

I played a few game last night, and, to my surprise, lag was not awful. It was the most fun I’ve had with the game so far. If SNK can get it like that all the time, I can see myself spending a lot more time with the game and recommending it to others.

I don’t see why people are shitting on you for saying this…this is absolutely true. While being polite can get you far do you actually think that a company will not want to appease a loudmouth? Its those types of people that can ruin your whole reputation with their big mouths.
