Ignition wants to IMPROVE KOF netplay. CALLING ALL OF SRK! BE HEARD NOW!

So… don’t spectate, don’t play in “rooms” really. Ignore all of the great online options we promised and treat this like SFIV online (relatively bare boned although unlike SFIV a matching bare bone single player!).

Also check your NAT even though that isn’t relevant to the problem.

So basically what I get out of this is “Go fuck yourselves and deal with it. We’ll get around to fixing it someday (never)”

Of note that this stuff still leaves for an unplayable online experience.

Man, why can’t they just own up to the fact that their netcode is pure garbage?

Fixing NAT will just make you connectible to more people; it wont magically make the game run any better. And if someone’s connection can’t handle the minuscule amount of bandwidth having spectators requires, then they probably shouldn’t be playing online in the first place.

Seriously, I wonder if they ever tested what their netcode runs like with >20ms ping?

Jesus christ, they’re not pissing in your cheerios and raping your underage sister. This place just breeds negativity. The tone of the response was not in the least negative, and really was more of a helpful tone, and it seems like every person who has legitimately complained has always put it in an extremely negative light.

I’m impressed SNK is bending over backwards to try and assure everyone they’re trying the hardest they can since most developers would just sit silent atop their corporate throne, and you still have people personally insulted and being completely pessimistic about everything.

It’s really no wonder why so many people are salty, the internet is like a feedback loop of negativity.

LeRaldo, they have. They haven’t denied it. They are working on it. Stop assuming.

Oh really? Could you link me to where SNKP has said their netcode is horrible? Because I’ve only seen Ignition talk about that.

Also, stop being an apologist. People are giving SNKP shit because all they’re doing is talking (and because the product is currently ASS). Once we see some action, then they’ll get the props they deserve.

SNKP is being represented by Ignition, for all intents and purposes they are one in the same, since Ignition is the developer, and whatever they say, goes.

I’m not even trying to be an apologist, I’m not defending that the netcode, it’s garbage and inexcusable. What I’m noticing that isn’t helping ANYTHING is people like you taking everything extremely personally. There’s no need for that, it’s only going to make you more angry, and really there is no need to take anything so negatively at this juncture since they’ve shown all initiative to get things done, and the game has literally only been available for 2 weeks. Of which, might I remind you, Ignition has given the players almost daily updates on the status of things.

This is an uncommon occurrence, and it should show you they have every intention to do work to fix the game. They haven’t given ANY kind of indication they’re just going to drop the game. You have no fucking clue what they are doing because you don’t work there, but they are trying to convince us that they are otherwise they wouldn’t make such an effort to keep us in the loop with direct community feedback.

Stop assuming.

I second that, and your av is awesome… Aoki and Kimura right?

What? Are they supposed to literally say "Go fuck yourselves thanks for your money!’?

Of course any official responses are going to sound “helpful”. What makes you think SNKP is bending over backwards to fix this? That they have the audacity to talk about NAT shows they either have no clue and/or are deflecting blame.

I mean look at their Xbox Live arcade releases. So what’s the status on those getting fixed up? I love KoFXII, and I really HOPE they fix everything. That would be awesome. But looking at their past track record, false PR spin already, and a GARBAGE netcode that is nothing short of an embarrassment in the year 2009, and we’re supposed to not be pessimistic?

Again, I hope things work out. I’m really pulling for them. But for as much as Shane and Ignition promise us they’ll get to the bottom of things (which I don’t doubt the sincerity), I personally really wonder if it’s all a lost cause. The game is getting killed already in reviews and word of mouth, and this isn’t the kind of title that will attract much new people down the road, especially with MvC2 and Tekken 6.

Anyway, in short summary, they’ve given me no reason to believe that their “bending over backwards to assure everyone they’re trying” is nothing more than corporate damage control at this point, and I really hope I’m wrong.

My money is on this, as you likely are.

Also, I dont think mvc2 is really an issue of competition. It’s not the same type of game, nor is it delivered the same way. People who wanted to get mvc2 have already made the decision to pick it up along time ago, and since it was a live title, it’s easily bought by anyone with an internet connection, not to mention it being cheap.

Comparing the two is silly, because they are two very different things.

Of course we are taking it personally!! We paid 60 dollars for a shitty arcade and practice mode. The ONE THING most of us wanted was online playability and we don’t have it. Now Ignition is doing damage control but they haven’t really said anything other than “we are talking about it with SNKP”. Even if some miracle happens and they fix the netcode, it will be months before the patch is ready. So FUCK YEA I’m mad for pissing away 60 bucks on a game I’ve spent an hour playing. We’ve definitely been cheated.

That’s the price of being an early adopter. It was ultimately your money and you spent it, so you have no reason to be salty at the developer. You have every reason to beat yourself up for spending the money though, but obviously that’s never going to happen because everyone wants to delegate the blame to someone else.

Ignition is in this to make money, but they also seemingly want to make their customer base happy. Could they have possibly foreseen the issues the game would have online? Possibly, but they obviously released the game thinking it was passable. Now that it’s been found to not be acceptable, they are making efforts to fix it. They don’t seem to want you to feel like you wasted your money based on everything they’ve said, so let’s see where they go with it. Why is this so difficult for people to understand?

The negativity here is what I am commenting on, not the complaints over the netcode, which are all mostly completely valid. Complaining about it with such an air of negativity will accomplish nothing except making your blood boil.

However, just because you can’t afford a “loss” of 60 bucks, doesn’t mean you should blame them for it. You bought the game, return it if you don’t want it. Sell it someone else. It’s a risk anybody takes from buying a game, or anything really, early. Pick it up later for cheaper if you’re going to have that attitude. I’m happy with it, most people aren’t. Oh well, cry about it more.

The lesson here is that patience is a virtue. Learn it please, because this constant arguing and complaining is getting so tired.

Honestly, all the harsh negativity is probably the reason it’s going to be addressed. You think if people were just like “oh well, netcode sucks” instead of “fuck SNKP if they don’t fix this I’m not buying another game of theirs” that the response would be the same?

There’s a right way to complain and a wrong way.

People commenting on their site and stating what the issues are, I believe, is the right way. Be civilized, and they take you seriously.

People threatening to find and kill the children of SNKP and proselytizing the end of the KOF franchise for all time because of a hiccup at launch is the wrong way.

Being courteous is always a more effective way of getting what you want, and people round these parts don’t seem to get or agree with this way of doing things.

You’re right in that a certain amount of blame belongs to me. I was stupid enough to think SNKP could release a decent product despite their horrible history with online playability (MOTW, 98UM). I was stupid enough to want so badly to support the KOF series that I ignored the reviews and complaints and bought the game on release day anyway. I was stupid enough not to return it immediately in hopes that the “Tuesday patch” would fix the netcode and make this thing playable. Now I can only return it for 15 bucks trade. But here’s what isn’t my fault, the fact that this game is a piece of shit not worth the DVD it is burned on.

That’s fine, at least you recognize that you’re partly at fault. Also, you are entirely entitled to your opinion as I’m not trying to take that away from you.

You know the absolute WORST part about it is, this game would have been great if SNKP didn’t fuck up so bad on the options and online play. From what I’ve played of the game it seems to be a lot of fun and have great mechanics and balance. The potential is/was there but SNKP cut corners. Now by the time the netcode is fixed (IF it is fixed) no one will be playing and this game will be forgotten. It’s the missed potential that pisses me off the most. If the gameplay itself was shit I wouldn’t care about online play and I’d just forget about the whole thing. Right now I have a game with great gameplay and fighting mechanics but there is nothing I can do with it since there’s no single player content and online doesn’t work.

Yeah man, I feel ya. But I’ve been trying to convince my friends either way. SNKP and Ignition did devise that huge list of things to do, so that puts me at ease slightly. They have a discernible goal that they can shoot for, that (most importantly) the players want and expect. I just hope they deliver. I’m willing to wait, but I don’t want them to give up on the game.

I’ve been over on Ignition attempting to get my voice heard about GGPO but random casual players arent helping much. I don’t think that SNKP exactly is lisnting to Ignition about the fans saying they want GGPO. It still seems like they want to keep trying to make the netcode good themselves.

no but they took my 60 dollars godamnit

and honest to god

if you’re so sensitive about shit get the fuck off the internet immediately

Call the police!
