Ok, please suspend for a moment that I am being irrational, and that SNKP already said “no story, no boss, dream match”.
Honestly, how hard would it be for them to add story to the game? All we would really need is a boss of some kind and a loose definition of teams. The boss could be fixed with DLC, and it has already been alluded to that we may be getting DLC characters. So, all we would need then is endings. Said endings, if done KOF XI style, would take very little effort.
Oddly enough, one of Ash’s win quotes states something along the lines of Chizuru influencing the yatta mirror (or something to that effect…I cannot remember it verbatim, but I know it brings up something that has not been referenced before). I have yet to look at all the quotes, but it seems like there is a loose framework for a “story” within a few of them.
I only ask for this because, after the bad reviews for this game, the possibility of KOF XIII look incredibly fragile (I know we all said that after 2001…but still). I am just saying, if they are asking what the fans want, I know a few of us would like some sort of a story (still it is not needed…file it in my “wish folder”).
With all of this talk of adding stories, more characters, more stages, more modes, various menu options, etc… at what point should we just say “aw fuck it. Maybe KoFXIII.”
If they really thought about adding all of this shit, we basically received a $60 Gran Turismo Prologue.
Please just fix the netcode. Worry about the rest later.
Actually it feels more like a Socom Confrontation just because we’re starting to get so much support from Ignition. Socom Confrontation also had a bumpy start with online as well.
Yeah it was smoothed out, but how long have we been waiting for shit to come on that? No DLC yet, and I recall hearing about a huge 1.60? patch that was going to change/improve a lot of things, yet they haven’t (to my knowledge) released 1.5 patch they announced months ago.
They did get it running smooth though, although they burnt a lot of bridges and most people have moved on at this point.
Interesting. Is this 1st party games? They did burn a lot of bridges though, but the core fanbase is really dedicated and stick through thick and thin (I’ll probably get back into it once the DLC comes out).
According to SOCOM.com right now, there are only 6700 people online right now. Maybe it’s me but that seems really low.
Back on topic, I played some “decent” online matches a bit ago. Playable, but not optimal. I really hope Ignition pulls through on this. Even as a KoF scrub, I find this fighter to be incredibly fun, perhaps the most fun fighter I’ve ever played.
Outsourced code from a chinese company. This is quite a bit more important. This affects owners of BOTH systems, as well as the future of the kof franchise. Enjoy your exclusives.
I would greatly appreciate if they would use a functioning and proven netcode to allow us to play comfortably above water in our homes. The fighting game community will be well served by excellent netplay and communities grow when lag has been removed.
Sales are probably fucked anyway, all the gamers new to the series who thought about buying this game probably didn’t because of the bad reviews, and nobody is going to re-review it, even if there’s a bunch of stuff addad.
Same with the LAIR game, the Sixaxis control sucked, it got bad reviews, the game was patched then, but nobody cared anymore.
I would really like to know if this game (or even the KOF series) is salvageable. We can’t really rely on KOF XIII at this point because it took SNKP four years to make just this game. I’m sure will we be stuck with XII for a good two years or so because of the painful long process of hand drawn art.
What I’m asking is it a waste of time to try to get really competitive in this game? Even though I’m enjoying it a lot, even if they fixed the net code, I don’t know if the US community will ever acknowledge KOF series. I’m afraid whatever young blood we have now will drop this game as soon as Tekken 6 hits shelves.
Lair was a new IP tho. I think if 12 got fixed, and they managed to persuade websites to rereview it, it could attract fans of the series who were discouraged by the initial release.
I think what they should just do is release all the dlc and patches and whatnot
and when its all done, rerelease the game as KOF 12+ or Black or whatever, that could get reviewers an excuse to re-review and everything will be fixed by then (if it ever reaches that point)
