Ignition wants to IMPROVE KOF netplay. CALLING ALL OF SRK! BE HEARD NOW!

im also a developer, and from my experience i can say that the netcode can be changed, but as DRCsyntax, a revision like that for the entire module can take a good amount of time, so if for any reason they go with a new netcode ala ggpo, im sure that we wouldnt see it in at least 4 to 6 months

Did the patch which was set to be released on the 28th on PSN fix the netcode?

oh the patch was supposed to do something?

Yeah…I read that up until he said the DOT characters were “pixelated”…seriously, that shit needs to stop.

On topic:

I honestly do not care if it takes months for the game to work perfectly online. As long as the code is revamped at some point I will be happy. I assert no knowledge of net code or development, so I would rather them just do it right (the second time). If there is SOMETHING they can give us in the meantime…great. If not, I will wait. I will continue to support SNK and Ignition until the end, because KOF has always been number 1 to me.

Sadly, this blundering may be enough to keep any new people from jumping into the KOF series. The game simply should have been held back. As stated before, I feel that SNK had their reasons for releasing the game (read: the HAD to), and I can’t fault them for that. All we are doing is playing the “could have/ would have/ should have” game from a consumer standpoint. My point is that I would have purchased the game even if it DIDN’T have online, and the price ($60) was a hell of a lot less than an AES cart. I have dreams for this game on the horizon, I love playing it, and I want to continue to do so. A fixed online would be a god-send…however, the reviews are already in and I am pretty sure that the IGN Fighter of the Year has fallen flat on it’s face according to anyone who is not a die-hard fan.

Here’s hoping for the best…

Hello KOFXII Fans:

As we stated yesterday, we are currently in serious talks with SNK PLAYMORE about getting some of the online/netcode and functional concerns addressed as soon as possible. We have also passed along the top DLC requests that the fans are making so they can be very much aware of what people want. Here are some of the requests we have specifically passed along to SNK PLAYMORE:

FUNCTIONAL ISSUES:

  1. Netcode performance improvements HIGHEST PRIORITY

  2. Ability to search for game sessions by connection speeds

  3. Adding the ability for players and spectators to quit out of online matches

  4. Addition of ?kick? or ?remove player? option from host lobbies

  5. Various game play bugs, including the Raiden/Elizabeth critical combo bug

  6. Ability to cancel or back out of the character selection screen

DLC FAN REQUESTS:
Additional Characters (and yes, Mai is on top of the list we provided SNK)
Additional Stages
Ability to Color Edit Characters
Endless Survival Mode
Endless Time Attack Modes
Challenge Mode

We will keep you informed of any progress made with SNK PLAYMORE and we again thank you for the incredible support. We encourage you to continue with the constructive feedback, as we are fans of the series too!

Nice! I really love Ignition. Please add Vanessa!

New post on the Ignition Forums asking players to try out a different NAT setting:

Online Play NAT Settings

*The SNKP Development team has asked us to tell everyone to check their console’s NAT settings. If your console is set to NAT3, change it to NAT1 and be sure to forward your router ports as well.

Please check your console settings, attempt this “fix” and report your findings back to this thread. SNKP has claimed some users have experienced improved online performance by doing this. It is important they receive accurate feedback on their “solution” so they can take the next step in bringing the online performance to a working state.

Many of you may have already tried this but please bear with us, this is a necessary step in order to move things forward and make the online situation clear for SNKP.

We thank you for any and all help in this situation.*

NAT Settings. LOL. Nice stall.

I really don’t understand how NAT settings are really relevant, other than SNKP trying to buy time while they deflect blame. I may be wrong, but I thought NAT effected whether or not you’ll connect with other players, depending on their NAT. If you connected with each other, well NAT isn’t relevant at that point then.

I applaud Ignition in their effort, and I hope they succeed in some of these goals, but I really have no faith in much getting done. Ignition is pissed, rightfully so, because this is going to hurt Ignition both in reputation and their bottom-line. However SNKP is so out of touch right now and that they had the audacity to release such poor netcode speaks volumes how much they really give a shit.

I’m really in limbo right now with this game. I love it, but with this netcode, it’s worthless to me. I really hope something gets done, but really both SNKP and Ignition should have been more on the ball in making sure the main fucking feature of their game is functional. At this point, whatever happens, the damage is likely done, except for those of us who are really patient and get really lucky that something eventually happens.

They’re not. :annoy:

So the time line so far is:

Friday: Game released. Netcode makes us envy original Xbox fighters. :annoy:

Friday(?): Ignition says working on patch to be released on games actual due date (u guys are beta right now! ha!) :clapdos:

Monday: Mysterious patch shows up! It’s… an install? With a few other simple features added. Online still sucks. We agree it’s a pre-patch patch! :wtf:

Tuesday: No, that was the real patch on Monday. :grrr:

(somewhere earlier in the week): Ignition says something about dedicated servers helping… maybe? :looney:

Wednesday: Ignition is all mad because we all got punked apparently with the patch. Huff and puff! SNKP responds with “uh… check your NAT.” :shake:

I guess I’ll chime in on their forum also, but man this is depressing.

what is this NAT settings? Is this for PS3 only? I dont see NAT settings in my 360 network configuration.

Do a live connection test to see your nat on the 360.

i hope for the best  i really want that this game to be successful

Additional characters won’t come for a while. I’m fine with that. Just fix the random bugs and the netcode.

All posted on their forum…

Regardless of the issue at hand, I severely am disappointed that this game is 60 bucks for the lack of content…

Or toss in some story…I swear, that warning message at the beginning of the game about the “Story and Characters Being Fictional” gets my hopes up every time. I know it is not integral to the game…

Still, I wanna see the end of the Ash Saga in some way, shape, or form.

Seriously, fuck that “NAT” settings shit, just admit you screwed up and fix the netcode already… god damn it SNK :grrr:

They did admit it. They were offering a suggestion based on the responses that they got from other people saying that changing NAT settings helped and they wanted to pass that bit of info along.

Again Daidoji, it’s been mentioned, and it’s hardly a reason to “rage.”

Read it and tell me where they said it was our fault. I swear to god so many people on these forums victimize themselves and always take things personally as if the companies they are buying and playing games from had just insulted their mothers.

Definitely not gonna be in this KOF. Most likely KOFXIII.
