IDW Transformers (Likely spoilers ahead, reader beware...)

I’ve been wanting to pick up ROS since it came out. I may pick up some issues next time I hit up the comic store.

I’ve read AHM No. 1 and 2 recently. Good stuff. Artwork is solid.

Reign of Starscream #5 is out bitches, GET HYPE!

All Hail Megatron 3 was very good, Megatron’s discussion with Starscream was excellent as well, this series really shows Megatron as a great leader, as opposed to being a bossing jerk in the G1 cartoon.

I just picked up #3 and I agree, it’s doing a good job of portraying Megatron as the dominant, ruthless leader that he is. The art is great for the TF’s but the human part of the story I’m not liking too much.

But this series is moving way to slow for my taste. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t them to jut jump right into things too quickly but can we not have 10 pages of IDW publication advertisements? Especially @ $4.00 an issue.

Co-sign.

Try getting charged over ?4 and then you can complain about the cost!

For the people wondering about Hearts of Steel, I thought the transformer designs were awesome, but the story was pretty much a huge letdown - so not really very good, no.

Ah keep forgetting to come in here and say how good All Hail Megatron is. Frenzy action hell yeah!

Yeah, watching Soundwaver unleash this new Frenzy was pretty cool. I don’t remember him having that ability or the problem associated with it but it was quite original in my eyes. But again, it was like one page of treatment and back to the normal stuff.

I at least want to see what the Autobots are up too in the mean time besides wondering what to do while Prime’s body is laying on the slab.

One thing I do find kinda’ strange is the fact that no one seems to be aware of the Autobot or Decepticon battle on Earth before AHM, like when Scrapper was talking to Meg’s about building on that location and mentioned the materials - it’s like he’s never encountered it before. Is this like an alternate What If story?

Last Wednesday, IDW released the MtMtE Volume 1 Trade.

If you don’t know, MtMtE (More than meets the eye) is a collection of G1 character profiles done by Dreamwave around 2003. It was an 8 issue series covering every G1 character, well, TF show or toy character. Individual issues of that series often cost $25, especially for issues 1, 2, & 3. DW released their own Trade of the series, but it was pretty rare.

Get this thing while you can find a copy, it’s well worth the $25.

@SMB- The IDW series are more of a ‘modern’ presentation of the TF series.

Anyone read AHM4 yet?

I got the issue but haven’t read it yet. Probably later today…

Just read it

AHM #4

[details=Spoiler]Well now we’re getting somewhere :stuck_out_tongue:
Megs and co. finally cripple the US Army and are starting to take control of the US.

Meanwhile back on Cybertron Ironhide is pissed off at their current situation after Prime went into Stasis Lock not knowing whether he will survive or not.
Elsewhere, Bumblebee and Wheeljack are walking around on Cybertron when Wheeljack spots a figure within their area. They call for backup, Ironhide and Cliffjumper respond.
They find out the figure Wheeljack detected was in fact Hot Rod, who was very glad to see his fellow Autbots have ‘responded to his signal’ and that they’ve come to ‘rescue him and the others’!

Something Evil lurks these steel corners of Cybertron!

There are however some stuff that bugged me-

  1. How and when the hell did they rescue Sunstreaker?
  2. When did Mirage join them?[/details]

Oh and TF Spotlight: Sideswipe was out recently, pretty good book.

AHM5 cover

Spoiler

Who is the silhouette supposed to be? Is it the new character, Drift?

AHM #4

Spoiler

Liked the Kup name dropping and Hot Rod’s appearance! PS the only Autobots I like are the Dinobots and all of the new Autobots introduced in the first movie and beyond. Always liked the Decepticons more. Same thing with G.I.Joe, it’s all about Cobra. :badboy:

One thing I really like about IDW’s spotlight series, is that when they focus on a character that is known to those who watched the cartoons, their version is to have that character appeal to a mature audience, take the recent Spotlight issue for example-

Blurr

[details=Spoiler]In IDW’s series, Blurr is a Cybertronian who lives to thrill people, lives for the RACE!
Issue begins shortly before the Decepticons began the war on Cybertron. Blurr’s living the life a Cybertronian can wish for, what with him being the no. 1 racer on the planet.
However all that changes when the war begins; Blurr has lost his reason for going on.
At a bar, Starscream meets him and tries to convince him to join the Decepticons, their discussion ends with Starscream leaving a Decepticon insignia for Blurr should he choose to join them.
Days later Blurr is caught in a battle between Autbots and Decepticons, during the fight he meets up with young Prime!
Prime gives him a pep talk in what he should do with his life, and Blurr decides to join the Autobots.

Good issue, but there is something that is bothering me a bit; the red Autobot insignia has been around long before the War and Megatron Origins, did the Autobot faction however only appear during the War? From Megatron Origins they seem to have been around since before then[/details]

thats easy, the fact is that they just made that up some time ago. so before that no, now if you like yes. but give them time to make some shit up for the rest of your questions (or fill in the blancs for yourself).

ALL HAIL MEGATRON #5

SPOILERZ!

[details=Spoiler]Looks like Kup DID recover from what happened to him his Spotlight issue. That or the spotlight took place a lot longer time ago.
Anyway, Hot Rod explains to the Jazz’s team that he was with another team of Autobots lead by Kup (who seems to be pulling off a Nick Fury with the cigar ), when they were ambushed by some Decepticon battle ships on Cybertron.
Kup and some of his team arrive at Hot Rod’s location and Kup starts talking scrap towards Jazz. Springer gets all cocky and attacks Jazz who retaliates by taking him and 2 other Autobots of Kup’s team.
Jazz explains to Kup their situation and Prime’s condition. A page is then shown of Megs having The Matrix; the key to saving Prime.
Back on Earth, Spike agrees to take on a mission to eradicate the Decepticons and is the lone survivor of his team sent on the mission.[/details]

Good issue overall with some nice art

Anyone else read Maximum Dinobots?

Some good action in this one!

[details=Spoiler]
Issue begins with Grimlock getting a flashback of a mission he and his team were on. We then see him finding the space ship that they took to track down Shockwave on Earth. Grimlock comments on how he can’t choose another transformable form and is stuck with his T-Rex from.
Cut to Nevada where his other comrades are being tested on, dubbed Thunder Lizards 2-5. The scientist, Kloss, informs Agent Red that he’s managed to fix any qwerks that would casue the TLs to regain thier conciousness and cause havok like Grimlock did last time.
Kloss then makes a phonecall to Dante, who is in fact the one who has control on the conciousness of the Dinobots and can trigger them on whenever he can.
It is soon revealed that Dante is infact Scorponik taking a human form, and is still working on creating his Machination on Earth.
In Massachusetts, Hunter and Sunstreaker, destroy one a car bunker that is apparently part of Machinations holds.

They find data regarding the Dynobots which they both decide to look into.
Scorponok sends some of his Headmaster soldiers to attack Grimlock, but get wasted instead. One of the soldiers sends Grimlock to Nevada, where he is detected by Agent Red’s men. They send the Thunder Lizards to take him down.
Meanwhile, Hot Rod shows up near Scorponok’s hiding place and Scorponok decides to deal with him.[/details]

Pretty much covers the events that took place before All Hail Megatron. Grimlock not talking in ‘Hulk-speak’ is pretty cool and makes him more badass.
