Ibuki Season 2017 Changes

Yes, I didn’t tell anything because it was already said. It reloads 3 kunais and recovers faster than a 1 kunai reload.

That’s exactly what I figured it would be. Perfect.

any word on crouching mk and MP ?,
and could be good to be able to cancel any mised lp+mp+hp on block even to te cost of one bar.

You have to learn to hit confirm the target combo. If they block st. LP st. MP you can end with st. LK to make it safe.

i know that, ken can cancel on ex fireball to prevent a punish and he does have 1000 vital

Ibuki is honest and has to commit to her confirms

So we still suck in s2? Cause my main char Vega is getting nice buffs and all im seeing for ibuki is better frametraps when she was already good at frametrapping. What about her sucky cr.mp, no range cr.mk, terrible slide, no range jabs, dubious antiairs at close range, terrible recovery glide, no range ex antiprojectile, and vreversal that leaves her absolutely open to any punishment when done on crossup jumps?. If long range pokes are getting buffed universally, what about her vskill which is - even when fully charged?

Ex kunai reload is a nice addition but that doesnt solve ANYTHING. We need so much more to compete. Im glad ken is getting nerfed the hell out though.

Also we should get an ex command dash. Why can Karin and not us? Having a command dash that is like -infinite on block is ridiculously unsafe for our pressure. The frame advantage on that should be fixed, everyone worth a damn now reacts to it and punish us and make us look like a scrub for doing -20 on block “mixups”.

Just a third post to emphatize on how terrible cr.mk is. Terrible range, - on block, not cancellable, cant link to anything, sucky hurtbox amd recovery. Wth is that normal.

Looks like you can also hold ex reload for fast full restock :

Block strings into command dashes are getting phased out. They are highly negative and only there to catch people sleeping like Ken’s run. The more viable stuff is using raw command dashes in neutral as they are much harder to react to and can pass behind buttons.

Not sure if it’s great to compare her to a character known for having trouble dealing with jump ins in general and the worst V Reversal in the game (if you’re in the corner his V Reversal is nearly useless). Plus a V Trigger that’s only legitimately scary if he’s sitting on super. Still also the only character with no invincibility on anything, including super. Meaning you get an all in character as far as neutral options and even strong ways to open people up for his archetype, but you can pretty much call it a wrap if you fall down near the corner. Makes his gameplan too lopsided compared to other good characters.

You don’t need invincibility in 5 as much as you did in IV, but you need something at least with armor or an invincible super when people just move in and disrespect the shit out of you. Without anything like that, Vega will stay pretty honest overall. Not a lot of people are going to use a character that is boned when blocking unless he gives up his V Trigger to get put back into a bad position any way. Only having pokes to keep people honest won’t last long term in tournaments.

Ibuki has “bad” light and medium buttons because she would honestly be too good if she had them any better. V Skill and f+HK can counter poke all of the good buttons in the game and build her V Gauge. Which means if she knows you are going to hit something you will give her what she needs to come back on you later on. She’s designed to counter poke extremely well as an exchange for typically playing mid range. She also has the fastest walk speed of a rushdown character so she walk down other footsie speed characters and force them to be hasty about their neutral game to not suffer frame traps and mix ups.

Kunais are also essentially a long ranged poke that are faster than most of the EX projectiles in the game. Which speaking of those…

So kunai releases are viable vs the entire cast now and she can potentially have an average of 20 to 30 kunais per match now? The BUFFZ

Believe me jin, vega wont be honest anymore. The dude is getting a couple of exciting buffs. Cr.hp is now a cc. His vtrigger is comboable with ex ASE now, everyone lost their meterless wakeups, all of his frame data buffed (with exception of oh), still 3 framer, apparently better combo potential overall. His slash H antiair apparently was buffed according to vega forums. And every one of his bad matchups nerfed. We vega players feel strong now honestly. A couple of slight nerfs were also found (like less range on s.hp) but overall outweighted by the possitive buffs. His slide and kick normals got a hitbox buff as well.

And vega has good buttons unlike ibuki, lets be honest for a moment Jin. I love ibuki and her ability to make Laura look free, but shes not competitive agaisnt several other characters right now for all the reasons listed. It is a shame because i love playing as her and you know that.

Also Jin, we gotta play again as soon as s2 hits! Ibuki mirrors ftw

Yeah that’s the issue with Vega is that his lopsidedness is that hes FORCED to rely on pokes in a game where you eventually need something when poking isn’t going to work. You can’t rely on pokes the entire match in a game like this. You need something that’ll stop someone’s poking game. Being able to combo into EX ASE is nice off V Trigger, but he should have had that from the beginning and you’re still going to be blowing V Reversals leaving you with less room to use that any way.

He’s gained some good new combos, but lost some important counter hit combos that are probably more important in a pinch also. He’s about where he needs to be probably, but still same issues that will keep him out of top tier.

Ibuki’s f+HK and V Skill are already good enough as far as buttons though. They can beat just about every button in the game and her new reload options allows her more room to frame trap and snipe characters that force her to play mid range more often like Alex and Chun. Kunais give her free true block strings and white chip so that’ll be big vs those characters who she won’t have to kill her resources on as fast to beat.

I know that Ibuki will be top tier.

Oh and yeah let’s play when it hits.

Yes you can. I didn’t mention that because I think it’s useless lol

You won’t want to let an Ibuki full EX reload. You do that and you pretty much are giving her a chance to control the entire neutral for free. The amount of range she can be relevant at and the true block strings she gets opened up when sitting on full kunais is very real.

I mean, vega has a move with extreme corner carry and a command grab so he’s actually good at rushdown, not as much as ibuki when she’s in but he still got the tools to get damage. So he dont have to rely on pokes a lot to win. Depends on the stance you use.

Also forgot to mention that vega regular roll special is +1 now and leaves him in range for command grab! Can you imagine that? God…

Anyway… i believe ibuki will be better positioned in the tier list due to universal oh and antiairs nerfing but she wont still be a lot better than she is now. Ex kunai sounds like an exciting buff though i just wish her neutral game normals werent ass

Her neutral game normals have to be “ass” for her to be balanced. She’s a rushdown character with now a pretty relevant zoning game. There’s no space that’s completely safe vs her anymore and she has the walk speed to viably counter poke and whiff punish a lot of characters with good buttons any ways.

Lets hope Jin! I want my ninja girl to be good. Will post my reactions and analysis after 20th for sure. Wait for it

Where can I buy tickets to the Ninja Hype Train?

So after reading all the leaks and videos to visually confirm myself if all these stick (hopefully) Ibuki will be so much better mainly thanks to the god send I was hoping for ex kunai reload. Not only is it super fast and stocks three but its also much faster than I expected it to be. So fast after b.mp in the corner combo it leaves her at +10 and to add icing on the top she can keep stocking. Might even be able to get an extra one in that same scenario. She’ll be able to comfortably execute a variety of playstyles thanks to the golden buff.

Putting things into even better perspective she has a medium into medium NH confirm for a better damage output. Not to mention just having dual +2 mids now. St.mk, st.mk, s.lk, kazekiri also works on CH just like st.mp, st.mp, st.lk, kazekiri does now although I only saw the former attempted in the corner. The added but restricted st.mp, st.mk, st.mp on crouchers that may or may not bee character specific if it remains is really good too.

I also noticed cr.lk, cr.lp works on NH which it doesn’t now. Cr.lp being +2 into st.mp now being a full proof frame trap is better too. Right now in S1 Ibuki is one of like maybe 2 or 3 characters that can hard punish even optimal ranged sweeps for almost all but like 4-6 characters because all but those are -12 or more. Ryu, Necalli, Birdie and I forgot the other is lower and Karin, Chun, and Nash at the most optimal the tool to do so i12 st.hp doesn’t reach but absolutely optimal for Chun and Karin tend to be highly unlikely which is why i’m hoping her st.hp get’s buffed in startup or Ryu, Necalli, and the other two become normalized at -12 or more.

Don’t particularly care about glide changes but I imagine there’s gonna end up being some use to it whether its ambigous setups for CC sweeps or bomb setups so I won’t knock it yet. Considering the slight nerfs damage wise, invincibility wise, and throw wise to everything from the top tier she’s definitely even better considering that and her buffs. Looking forward to S2!
