Ibuki Season 2017 Changes

I like the fact she has now two medium buttons she can press in neutral without being 0 on negative both on hit or block. That thing alone kept me from playing her more during S2.
I might also underestimate the EX kunai change. I thought that she was already a meter hog and that giving her more options to spend it wasn’t really good, but since her kunais are amongst the best projectiles in the game that might make her much scarier in neutral.

Yup, yup! Solid stuff and if anything i’ve ever read in this thread is anything to go by your definitely not the only one who underestimated the potential of an ex reload. It literally makes her that much more versatile in a number of different ways. Good luck using Ibuki if u do. She’s super fun.

Had to test things myself with this beta. Chaining C.lk to C.lp is hands down one of the top buffs she got. Now people need to watch their feet more because she can confirm a low into kunais. The range isn’t the best, but at least you don’t have to be point blank. Now people can’t just walk away with little consequences.

She can normal dash under after ex kunai into j.lp j.mk target combo now, but the timing seems pretty strict. You can still do it with normal command dash.

Also her fwd dash seems faster or is it just me? People said lp raida is +4 and ex kunai is +2 now so maybe so?

YOOOOOOO Capcom fucking did it. They fixed Cammy and Laura’s wonky hurtbox when they whiff a throw and get hit by Ibuki’s overhead. The s.jab now connects!

I don’t personally spend much meter with Ibuki. Once you know her setups and resets you can stay on people without spending much meter. Most people just don’t study the character enough to really manage their options. I rarely spend meter with Chun either and that’s another character that people blow yellow all over the place with for whatever reason.

EX kunai reload buff just means you can play her with less management and for me that just means I’ll be going OD with stuff now.

She can chain c.LK to c.LP now? Nice buff. Always helps to give her another option to check people’s feet even though that’s normally been one of her weaknesses across games. She can cross you up without jumping so that’s kinda been a balancing point for her. Majorboy and other Ibukis were already using c.LK, s.LP, raida for a low check, but if this adds any range that’s nice.

F+hk still -3 on block.

Yeah c.lk to s.lp is decent, but it’s nice to know she can go into kunai/ex kunai and do all her big damage setups.

Also don’t know if it was brought up in the last page, but after a s.hk CC, she has time to dash in and do stuff now.

Raida,f.dash was always +4, you could get meaty s.lp into s.lk,ex kunai was +1 tho, so meaby now raida is +5 after dash? (hope not,that’d mean you’ll have to kara cancel her throw or wait 1 frame so it connects on the first frame)

True. Getting some real damage off a low is a good buff.

yeah, people walking back on me is an issue I have. I never seem to be in range for c.lk to s.lp to hit. So I have resorted to stopping my frame traps to peg them with a c.mk or 2 lol

Dash after lp, hp, and ex raida were +3 otherwise b.mp and df.mk wouldn’t get stuffed by 3f standing and crouching jabs respectively. You also wouldn’t be able to backdash 6 frame moves like cr.mp getting air hit instead of clean hit. Dash after mp raida was +1 and dash after lp+mp ex kunai was +1 but dash after lp+hp ex kunai (hitting in the back) was +5. Dash up st.mp after the latter was an actual true blockstring that she could loop.

Cr.mk and cr.mp changes though?

You gotta play Chun, Karin or Cammy if you want good crouch mediums.

Btw just saw Shine ibuki playing extremely well at NEC but getting slaughtered by Dieminion fang. No footsies, no anything to deal with fang. Then Shine goes back to karin and it is 2-2 now lol

Then shine loses to guile counterpick 3-2. S1 Ibuki still ruining people performances at tournaments lol

Ibuki does well vs Fang. You just have to pick a good spot to get under the poison balls and stay on him. His Ibuki doesn’t really seems super practiced either. Just decent.

There are no majorboy/isa level Ibukis in the US.

No man, ibuki doesnt. It is a neutral game slaughter.

I know the official patch, and notes, haven’t dropped yet, but based off the community testing have the Ibuki changes affected her gameplay in any significant way?

Basically I want to know if all the current tutorials on her core game play and BnB’s will become completely invalidated due to the patch? I want to pick up Ibuki but I don’t really want to wait months for new tech vids and tutorials. Hoping I can still use what’s available now.

s.MK will be a bit more important and start your bnbs and pressure more often, but other than that everything else is about the same or just extra situational stuff that that you can always learn to add later. She’s not like Chun Li where you have to completely relearn the character basically.

Kinda bored of Cammy and with the nerfs i dont have anymore interest in her. Ibuki feels a lot more challenging and rewarding to play.

Yeah I was at first deciding between using either Cammy or Chun, but Chun looked a lot more fun to use than Cammy. Ibuki is my favorite SF character in general and they really got her back to her fast paced pressure game that I remember from 3S. You’ll really like her options and her kunai game allows her to play from a range really well especially with the EX reload buff.
