Ibuki Critique Thread ver.2

I’ve worked part time since I was 16 too and I still work like every day; 20hrs a week during the school year and 40hrs a week during the breaks. Almost all of my money goes toward tuition and rent. Don’t you people have bills to pay?

In America, minimum age is like 16 I think, though it can vary by state. You can still get paid “under the table” though in certain places (eg: chinese restaurant).

Well I’m 18 and I don’t start paying my rent until next year, which I probably won’t have to do due to a scholarship. Which means all of my money I’ve earnt doesn’t go to any bills. I do realise that College costs a lot in America. In the UK it used to be free until I think last year, and even then they give you a large student loan.

I just think that when it comes to traveling most SF players must have savings, or spend all of their spare cash around it.

SORRY AGAIN!!!

I’m gone to Manchester on Thursday to do some presenting, I’ll be back Sunday. Which means I can’t play with you guys next weekend either. I’ve played less than 3 hours of SF for the past 3 weeks, this is getting stupid now.

EDIT: =D someone special bought me Resistance 2. Gunna have a blast on this with the 360/PS3 converter. No SF tonight either.

I think the tournament was the iPlayWinner 2012 AE tournament. It was shitty cause it was invite only in a small arcade in my city. The prize was $150 with a couple of local pros. FilipinoChamp lost to a Vega and Ricky Ortiz completely destroyed all his opponents. No Ibuki players :[

Nah because I’m based in the UK. I heard it was a tournament at some sort of Anime convention, probably Rocket Complex considering the date. That’s good to hear though, that Ricky Ortiz is still doing fine.

Managed to do a little ft5 with Damascus before heading to bed.

Ibuki vs. Ibuki (3-games)
YOROITOSHI!! Don’t worry those set-ups work on everyone. I’m surprised that I didn’t drop a single combo, and your execution is sweet now Damascus! I didn’t really like your Focus Dash to escape with Ibuki though, I’m not sure if you noticed, but I let you get away with it until I was losing then I punished it with the Unblockable set-up. You have to realise that sometimes your opponent will let you escape a certain way until you start to auto-pilot, then he’ll counter when he needs to.

I also forgot that you can’t st.Strong, st.Strong Ibuki after landing the Kunai, but oh well.

Makoto vs. Ibuki (2-games)
I almost want to upload these to point out the really good things you did. I take it you’ve played V-Ryu Sensei yeah? I had a lot of trouble beating you, and you made the match-up look 5-5. Your Slide -> EX Kazegiri was god-tier, very nice read. However, don’t EVER do st.Jab -> sj.Kunai. Makoto should never be able to Fukiage you out of your Vortex, if she can, your Vortex set-up is absolutely terrible.

Moreover, you’ve greatly improved since last time, keep it up mate!

EDIT: Tell me if you want a full critique or not, since I’m going on Thursday for the rest of the week this will probably be our final games for this year.

I work 80 hours a week and have been living by myself since I was 17. Rent, light bill, water bill, yeah I know what you’re talking about when it comes to bills lol. Only this year did I start traveling but usually it’s usually with someone else to split cost (hotel/transportation).

I actually don’t know if that question was directed towards me or not lol.

Watson told me that they have to send their boards to Capcom Japan but if that’s true, then I don’t know how Southtown Arcade got it first day.

Wow, we French are really lucky. I’ve lived at my parents’ house during all my studies, paid something like 80 € for university tuition, had a scolarship around 150€ a month (mostly cause my family’s resources are low, they give you money according to how rich your parents are), and I’ve been working since I was 14 (legal age is 16 but when you need money… lol). This allowed me to go studying in Sweden for a year, so it’s nice not to have any bill to pay. Now that I’m living alone I feel like I pay soooo much bills :frowning:

Izuna:

1/ I’ll be in Paris until end of January, if you wanna stop by =)

2/ Fuck you. Really. I was playing some casuals with eMRaistlin when you came, I was sleepy and going to bed but I decided to play against you anyway. The result was zero victory lol.
I also find your Ibuki a lot better than Makoto, but I know I have a better knowledge of Makoto matchup than mirror matchup. I have never played V-Ryu but I play on a regular basis with some very good Makotos so I have a good overall knowledge of the matchup
Some comments, even if my exec was shit, I missed plenty of setups and I think I’ve anti-aired you only once xD:

Ibuki vs Ibuki
[]Me Tsumuji-looping you, does it basically mean that the Tsumuji-looper get’s Tsumuji-looped? :stuck_out_tongue:
[
]I got used to focus dash against Ibuki 'cause I often play against Saunic or Mackfellah who are two very good Ibuki players (though Saunic is gdlk). PRoblem is I ended up autopiloting in a stupid way… --
[]Man you backdash almost every time on wake up. I should look at the replays, but I’m pretty sure I haven’t option selected neckbreaker a single time. Or maybe only once.
[
]I was about to perfect you at one round, and I drop a stupid combo when you were stunned, and then you Yoroitoshi’d me, and then I lost. Rage rage rage.
[]Don’t you know the classic “ultimate pressure frame trap” which is LK Tsumuji - st.MK or MK Tsumuji - st.MK? I caught you a lot of times with this one =)
[
]When you’re attacking and I’m blocking, you almost always end your combo with 3-hit Tsumuji. I started focus-backdashing at a point and you finally stopped it ^^
Makoto vs Ibuki
[]At this point I was waking up haha
[
]I find your Ibuki way safer than your Makoto! Maybe it’s because I’m used to play Makoto but I was shocked to see how often you jumpin or you directly Hayate!

I’m tired of when I’m tired and can’t even end my Tsumujis with a low kick. Sometimes I do something like 3 K or 1 K at the end, and this is a standing Tsumuji ender. I did it it least twice against you -
-
[]It’s funny that you rush more with Makoto than Ibuki ^^ this is why I started using st.LP as a counter hitter
[
]My st.jab - SJ Kunai is a stupid habit I have against shotos (cause it stuffs Shoryukens). Thanks for teaching me that it doesn’t work with Makoto
[]Neckbreaker - Slide - j. instant kunai is definitely a terrific Vortex starter, everybody’s expecting a meaty normal at this point =)
[
]Slide to EX Kazegiri is my absolute desperate frame trap solution. Since, I think you noticed it, I use the slide too much, people get used to punish me, so an EX Kazegiri can calm them down

You Karakusa waaay too much!!! Notice how you had difficulties do catch me. Playing against Makoto, I ALWAYS stay one or two steps back in order to avoid her Karakusa. You tried it anyway, watch out for this
We’ll have to play again someday
At least you warmed me up for tonight’s ranking.

Also I don’t know why, but I’m always forgetting one thing in my playstyle: EMPTY JUMPS. When I do some it works sooo well. I really have to think about it more

I love you too mate. To be fair the last time I so much as touched SF was Sunday. =D

 1. The difference is that my Makoto is more consistent. My Ibuki works VERY well on certain players, but my Makoto works just as well against any opponent. How I struggled against you with Makoto is the same way I struggle against Problem. Sure I can bag more Double Perfects with Ibuki than Makoto, but Makoto gets me more wins across the board against high level players.

I haven’t watched the matches through just yet but I’ll try to respond to this list:

 1. Neither of us missed a Tsumuji-Loop, we’re both godlike.

 2. Yes but this is a problem, you do not need to focus the Kunai, I told F-Word this as well.

 3. I am reacting to the Kunai you’re throwing, which gives me frame-advantage if I backdash. Didn’t you see that I backdashed and was going for Yoroitoshi? I think I pulled this off, but it would have gotten you every time. It’s cheap stuff.

 4. Haha I was bursting out laughing when this happened. Yeah I have safe-jumps after Yoroitoshi, make sure you memorise them!

 5. What were my inputs showing? I was probably trying to do st.Jab or st.Forward to counter-poke you or beat a dash, which is an auto-pilot technique a lot of Ibuki players do. I don’t care about getting knocked down from this range by Tsumuji because I can just backdash your Kunai (like I did).

 6. Why not? My plan is to get you to auto-pilot defending against this until you’re low on health or I am, then I was going to mix-up you up with an overhead or tick-throw. And if you started doing EX Kazegiri to punish the low hit (dealing about 40 Damage), you’re mixing yourself up because now I can bait you.

 1. I don’t want to use any excuses but I was being heavily distracted by a certain someone.

 2. I will jump in all day until you realise that you can’t anti-air Makoto with Ageman clean. =P The Hayate part is a 3rd Strike habit… At least it worked eh?

 3. OOOOOOOOOH I thought you were doing this on purpose. I could have anti-aired you everytime but it was such an alien set-up it took me by surprise. haha I was just about to praise you for this…

 4. Swag.

 5. Are you sure they can’t just block it and throw you to punish? It looks like it won’t ever cross-up and hits pretty high. You should test to see how much frame-advantage you have after this set-up.

 6. I think I was trying to do my Abare Tosunami which would have countered, but it’s a pretty good set-up for sure.

 7. When we were playing Ibuki vs. Ibuki, did you notice that I attempted to punish every slide with Yoroitoshi? When ver.2012 hits you’re going to have to get your spacing sorted as the inputs will be easier. It was sweet when you did it on my Makoto because it was the first time I wanted to punish you with EX Karakusa. It’s like you knew it was coming, hmm.

 8. Nah I knew you were walking backwards after my st.Fierce HC, my kara-Karakusa was just not coming out. =P

To quote Femi: “Why would you use Ultra I in this match-up?” Just wait until I get my easy inputs back. Yoroizuna is coming back.

Already made plans. Je vais vous y voir.

When?

In my case it was last Friday evening, when RekkaTEC came home to play some ugly Ibuki v Seth matchups =)
Does anybody know where is located the Time room from Dragon Ball Z? I could use it to get some time to play

 1. Who doubted that? =)
 2. I played Ultra II. I’m heavily training these times to be able to SJC Ultra 2 from any hit confirm, Sako-style. So an extra revenge bar is welcome => focus FTW . You may have noticed yesterday how I kept doing super jumps after st.MK. Now, you know what happened ^^
 1. Didn’t I hit one clean ageman? with a final ambiguous crossup which got you down
 2. Nope. I’d never do such a stupid thing on purpose haha. This also shows that sometimes, playing nonsense setups works kinda well! But I really have to take care of that, some days I just can’t seem to hit Down properly and always end up doing Down-forward / Down-backwards :-/
 3.
 4. The timing is pretty strict (and I drop it sometimes), but if I do it well it will crossup and combo, I spent a lot of time in training for this matter because I was tired of getting angry because my kunais were punished by Ryu’s shoryuken :-/

PS: And now I hate you again. I’m in my office, watching my computer, and fighting against myself to prevent falling asleep. Street Fighter sucks =)

Yeah that was awesome, but make sure you practice the HJC Command Dash after the cr.Fierce because if Makoto is ready for it, she can punish both a sj.Short and nj.Short with Fukiage. Next time we play, I’ll want to anti-air practice with you. At certain ranges you should switch to cr.Fierce.

At least your sub-conscious is thinking about me. I’m flattered. Next time will definitely be on a weekend though, sorry about that.

I don’t know the exact date, but I’ve put the money aside for it.

I am so jealous!

Yes, let’s play again 'cause I REALLY have to fix my anti-air issues. I miss a lot of occasions to anti air efficiently and I really have to work on that. I usually go for Ageman, but I should learn when to use each anti-air. I’m still impressed when I get to play Saunic, this guy always know what anti-air he should do!

PS: RekkaTEC comes almost every week end to play with me, he’s my official sensei now, since he plays everybody, he’s training me to every matchup =D if you manage to come on a week end you could meet him =)

I really hope everyone understands that Ibuki is a bullshit character that anyone can lose too (especially online). Don’t get me wrong, she is my main and all but only because I like to win and my footsies with her are on point so I could play with her at a decent level.

So is that why Ibuki is top tier?

Yes

Srk is acting stupid

Here’s how I interpret it. With Ibuki, you can easily be a bad player and beat/random out average and below players even if you’re a bad player. Only when it comes to really, really good players, does her low-tierness start to show.

And I’m not talking about 15kBP players, I’m talking about top-tier players who have the ability place Top 32 or something in EVO. If you’re part of a small community and are using Ibuki, you’re probably seeing a lot of success, so you won’t really be able to improve using this character as you won’t realise how bad you actually are.

It’s actually kinda like using Yun, without the ability to random out F.Champ lol

Not as much bullshit as any of Seth’s or C.Viper’s rushdown bullshit. And how often do you see this “bullshit” character win any majors?
