Are you still willing to play on your pad?
Man I’m really trying to level up. Can you guys watch a couple matches and tell me everything I’m doing wrong?
I’m not used to playing in tournaments (I want to say some of my messups are because of nerves but its mostly me just being bad), I did manage to get to semifinals at least (5th place)
Biggest mistakes-
Jump in kunai is DUMB I need to fucking stop
Also predictable jumping in general…
Cr.HK/HK combo is terrible, needs to be out of my gameplan entirely and replaced by cr.hk vortex.
I still use HK tsumuji instead of mk.
Make my reversal mash more concise- i noticed they listen for my inputs and let me reversal DP
Likewise the sagat player was mashing and I HEARD it but I didn’t stop my combos to let him do his thing.
Make my jumping less predictable, or do low kunai instead of full jump.
Put normals out there… i don’t know how to footsie, there, I said it. Fuck. Every time I try it never helps me, it just lets them counterpoke and whatnot
Learn tech timing properly…
Don’t wiff down forward mk.
Need to learn the recoveries on projectiles properly, offscreen I was able to punish our best local guile 3 times with reaction u2 to his fireball but I simply do not know the start up and travel time for neckbreaker…
Need to not dash in, dash out, then dash back in immediately.
NEED TO WORK ON MY REACTION ANTIAIR. I play with casey all the time and I should have learned from him ibuki antiair and space control in general is sooo important…
I picked up a really bad habit of doing command dash randomly when they’re on the ground, needs to stop (I swear this is recent…)
not really apparent in how i play but i need to think more about what my opponent is thinking in general.
I had a few really sweet matches with our best chun and guile off stream I wish I could show you those instead of me getting bodied by stupid sagat mash tactics…
Edit- I also need to, in line with predicting the other player, tighten up my vortex and make sure I know which side I’ll be hitting on no matter how I’m entering vortex.
god watching it again how can i play this game so long and still be so fucking bad
Is it just me, or some ibuki’s out there forget to do the full TC4? Am I missing out on somthing?
You got the execution right there, but I think you need to calm down during that sagat match. But definately need to work on the ground game more instead of using jump. If you’re not used to tournament setting’s, that’s ok. Just try again until you are used to it. If you previously relyed on the command dash mix-ups, it won’t work on some people. In this case, practice other mix-ups that you still don’t quite understand yet and then think about other strageties and expliot their weakness.
There’s not much advice to give apart from: be more confident with anti-airs.
People who aren’t confident with anti-airing always jump themselves. You don’t like to stay in one place because you’re trying to make their jump in impossible.
Saw the matches vs Boxer and Sagat, and all I saw was an autopilot Ibuki constantly going in on two players who apparently don’t know the matchup very well.
Jump kunai is okay, but not when you’re doing it every 5 seconds, and especially not when you’re getting hit with jump back fierce to the face every 2/3 times you try it. Same goes for jumping.
TC10 is okay in situations when you don’t have enough time to hitconfirm just the sweep, but you’re correct.
You should use Neckbreaker instead of any Tsumuji unless you know what you are doing and you want a Tsumuji knockdown.
I doubt they were listening to your inputs. You were already pushing 100 buttons per second.
You don’t have to hear your opponent mashing. It was obvious after the Sagat player did like 10 dp’s in one round that he was mashing. It was just simply you on autopilot that you didn’t adapt at all; not because you weren’t listening.
Maybe just stop jumping all together. If you need help with this, find a solid player to train with, or someone who is always on point with antiairs or plays a character with a dp and knows how to use it.
If you just went air-to-air and lost that battle and Sagat lands and throws a fireball, you will not have time to EX Neckbreaker him. It’s okay the first time you try it, but not the second… or the third time you try it. Again, it’s just you not learning as you’re playing.
Your two biggest weaknesses that you need to work on are patience and not playing on autopilot. An example outcome of this is the obvious lack of footsies. The best recommendation I can give you for further training is to find a super-solid player/character who will punish all of the randomness you do, from jumping to dashing to cr.HK and wakeup command dash. Good character examples to play against include Ryu, Zangief, Fei Long, Sakura, Honda, and most charge characters when played correctly.
If this is not possible, an alternative training regimen I would recommend is focusing solely on footsies. Quoting the footsies handbook, you should for the next few matches:
- no (forward) jumps the entire match
- no dashes the entire match
- limit 1 psychic dp per match (though I would recommend 0)
Once you have tamed your random ground game, the next step I would recommend is temporarily abolishing any sort of okizeme mixup game, and instead opt for meaties and safe jumps.
Note that you probably won’t win easily, if at all, during this training. But you shouldn’t aim to win just yet. So don’t fret if you’re constantly getting pwned by random scrubs you know you can demolish if you didn’t hold yourself back. Play to learn first, play to win later.
Addendum: your execution seems okay, but priorities! You can SJC U2 perfectly but, combowise:
-you can’t punish properly (3hit TC4 xx HK Tsumuji would not even persuade me to stop mashing dp)
-you don’t go for full TC4
-you still have the habit of cr.LP cr.LP st.LP
-you drop f+MK , st.MK almost every time
-etc.
You may call it “stupid Sagat mash tactics”, but that is probably the same way I would play if I played vs an Ibuki who kept dropping combos, kept doing random shit, and could not punish properly.
edit: I forgot to add, you really should learn to use cr.LP + cr.HK option select everytime you go for cr.LP xx cr.LP blockstring. Your opponent escaped one too many times.

I know I won most of these, and I think I know what I can do better, but nonetheless it wouldn’t hurt to get some critique or second opinions from you guys.
Played with that guy before.

He kicked me after he beat me with his Deejay in one match. He seems to be proud of that since I beat his Akuma more, but I might need more than 1 game to see how he plays his Deejay. I replied to his message by agreeing that online can be dumb. When reading his 2nd message, I knew that I was mashing dp a lot in the middle of his blockstrings, but hey it’s not my fault that he couldn’t bait my reversals. He did the same thing to me by mashing Raging Demon in the middle of a blockstring like the one in 10:13. I fell for that twice and asked him about it. Reading the last message, I’m sure he was talking about my unblockables but still wasn’t related to mashing that ultra in my blockstrings. After that, I’m not going to waste any more time on him. He’s just a sore loser trying to hide the fact that he is one and a hypocrite by implying that he hates spammers, but spam shits out himself.
Agreed. He actually me a crap ton of messages (like 20? or so), but not sure if it’s worth the time to expose him. I also have videos of my Ryu vs his Akuma/Guile.
Another one of those noobs who gets one win and then leaves on a good note followed by trolling, I guess lol.
Actually to add onto that, he did also claim that Akuma (and CViper?) performs poorly online compared to offline. Meanwhile Ryu and Ibuki can “get away with dumb shit”. When I suggested I try playing as CViper or Akuma then, then he declined. He also claimed that I was a turbo user lol.
And some nonsense about active frames which I thought was so funny, I added it to the end of the Ibuki video.
Funny how he complains about online from the beginning of the month according to my message but still plays online. I don’t see any improvement from him after watching the video.

I still have problems with every single matchup
Played Kineda at the arcade Moon invited me to. Raped me with Akuma cause I didn’t know most of his setups and just ate it since I blocked wrong. Also he did a random raging demon that I could’ve countered with Raida or U1 but didn’t
I’m glad it wasn’t on their stream cause I was getting destroyed lol

Critique my Ibuki plz!
Take whatever I say with a grain of salt, but I noticed that you like to use cr.LP cr.LP st.MK on block a lot. cr.LP st.MP leads into pretty good damage if they’re pressing buttons or you could kara throw them. Seemed like he didn’t press too many buttons (not even teching) so a kara throw would have gotten him quite a bit.
Also I noticed that you end most of your combos with Tsumuji. Why not Neckbreaker?
Overall, that’s better than I could do.
We actually played something like 20 matches (final score looked like 13 - 7 for him). After the first matches of myself doing cr.LP st.MP, Smug was just doing this short swing blow between the cr.LP and st.MP => I had to change and do many cr.LP (=> out of st.MP range) and stop/delay them.
Saeme for the Tsumuji thing. Too many neckbreakers = he was starting to recognize my setups (this guy has a REALLY good blocking) => changing for some Tsumuji, EX Tsumuji, EX Neckbreaker =)
You can do throws after a blocked kunai vortex attempt since I didn’t see crouch tech inputs from him. Then you can try insta kunai to see if he can block it well or not since he’s good at blocking regular vortexes. Also I found that after ex nb, followup lk cd, sj.lk(similar to unblockable for seth and vega) is really ambiguous. It’s not a safe jump though.

This has been known for a while =) it also makes most reversals whiff! But MK cd is safer (and VERY ambiguous with j.MK)
Stopped watching after the first game, second round when you dropped a blocked EX MGB punish (minus a bajillion on block) and a dropped cr.LP cr.LP st.MK bnb.
Either work on your execution or stop playing laggy matches. Can’t really critique if unsafe stuff aren’t getting punished and basic bnbs getting dropped.
First match was actually included in the video just on the purpose to show what he did on the second round: Duck straight FADC and Dudley goes through Ibuki. Impossible to block unless you absolutely know it =)
The following matches are a bit better. Worst thing is that I forgot that 4-hit TC4 does not connect on Dudley after a crossup, and I missed an easy ultra
Hey guys, it’s been some time since I had uploaded any recent content and I apologize for that break as it affected my game play. Not too much damage to the muscle memory, but reaction wise. I will be posting vids here through tfx Blaze youtube, anywhere else and it didn’t come from me.(for now)

Have at it. thanks
