Is it me, or was that match laggy? I noticed a lot of random slowdowns. And you missed a few easy links that i know you’re able to hit very consistently.
Pretty interesting use of cr.short and cr.forward to duck under her jump attacks and burn kicks. I was pretty surprised at 3:50 or so where your b+strong stuffed her burn kick free. I don’t think I’ve seen that before, somehow I don’t think that would normally warrant the risk associated with trying to AA a burn kick.
Did you feel like that Viper was any good? She didn’t seem to know how to block kunai vortex for shit, and generally played fairly loose and didn’t seem to have complete control over her character’s mobility and sjc.
Double post: I was wondering why st.MP st.MP st.MK wouldn’t work on CViper, when it should work on almost everybody (also according to the Ibuki Charts). Turns out that it doesn’t work because of hitboxes, and because of the “crossup” move or “landing on the other side” kunai vortex. The only way to solve this is to walk up between the kunai and st.MP, or walk up after the first st.MP and do st.LP, or both.
In any event this makes Ibukis strings vs CViper pretty difficult unless you can hit confirm off the kunai alone. And you want to do standing block strings (as opposed to crouching strings like cr.LP cr.LP) like st.LP and st.MP to auto beat any burn kicks. But with st.LP being unpredictable and st.MP not exactly being combo-able out of, you might be limited to doing st.MP , st.MK as the whole hit confirm if you’re worried about burn kicks, and cr.LP and cr.LK if you’re not.
In terms of damage you can do MK Tsumuji loop, but HK Kazegiri doesn’t hit for full hits, and the only way to get good damage is to spend meter for EX Raida/Kazegiri/Tsumuji. Might not be worth the effort unless you gotta get dat dmg.
Just some random tidbits. I just played another random CViper on AE PC and I am almost positive Ibuki’s cr.MK is her win button in this matchup trololol.
Seemed like a pretty bad C.Viper. Just trying to do a lot of flashy shit, none of which actually touched you, lol.
I’ve learned to keep it simple against C.vipers. Basic jab hit confirm combos only, none of that TC4 stuff or Tsumuji loops. Just land damage whenever you can, and keep a mental gauge on her stun meter.
Come on Mingo, just look at his points lol. He might be a player that does endless 24/7 and decided to go on ranked, but he can’t even do a Viper’s BnB FFF. Can’t compare that to (head)Krones or Latif.
Recently I’ve been trying to play with the PP/BP set to off in display options, so I don’t jump to assumptions that my opponent is gdlk or noob. That way, I’m forced to figure it out during the fight. Hopefully this leads to better download-ability, Fios bandwidth, etc.
Also the random stuttering in the video isn’t because of my un-overclocked cpu. It’s apparently because I was recording it to a crap mechanical HDD instead of my usual SSD (which I sold).
I do that on the PC version, haven’t done it on the 360 yet. Once I see who the person picked and whatever, I try to look away from the screen or even look at the Ibuki charts until the match starts so I don’t see the points at all until it’s over.
Surprised you sold your SSD. That shit makes a pretty significant different in overall performance in PCs at a variety of tasks. You seemed pretty proud of owning it at the time.
Actually I had 3 ssd’s at the time. I still have my 240gb in my PC now, but I can’t use it for Fraps because it’s my OS drive and I only have like 20gb free. I sold one 120gb, and gave the other 120gb to my bro (he had a 64gb Kingston ssd; I sold that one too).
I may consider buying another SSD for Frapsing again, especially with all these slick deals on slickdeals. But besides randomly Frapsing, I have no immediate need for it.
Don’t jump at Gief. Ever. his lariat is braindead and makes your kunai whiff + beats your jumpins
WAIT FOR GIEF. He has to find a way to get in. The whole point in this matchup is to keep a good distance without getting cornered (which you did bat: you always go back to keep distance, until you’re cornered). You tried getting in too much, and got punished almost every time you tried
Less kunai plz, his Lariat would have stuffed all of your kunai setups, be happy he didn’t use it ^^
Less mashing as well, he didn’t do that either but a good Gief will punish any blocked EX kazegiri with U2 if he has it!
Keep yor distance, be ready to anti air with either far.st.HK if he’s far, or cr.HP. Anti ait cr.HP SJC MK Command dash to overhead is gdlk in this matchup, unless Gief has U2 charged and likes using it.
Empty jump overhead is gdlk as well: makes throws + green hand whiff
Moar pressure plz. Also, a good use of the air target combo is a good thing as it beats his EX throws
Less meaty pressure. It’s too much of a risk, given the fact that gief can just mash SPD and beat any of you meaty attempts
Blocked EX green hand = max punish. he’s like -9 on block! Don’t just mash EX kazegiri. Go for st.MP st.MP st.MK neckbreaker for example, if you can’t Tsumuji-loop
If you really want to put meaty pressure, try to mix it. Sometimes, just backdash, f he mashes SPD, he’s free. Or Overhead. Or heck, Ultra 1 if you’re feeling risky
Again, overall be more patient. You have to wait for Gief to get in. And come to think about it, he doesn’t have a lot of reliable options. Eaily anti-airable with cr.HP, overhead makes green hand whiff, he only relies on SPD gimmicks here. Be sure you know LP SPD’s max range, cause it can surprise you. And nevr mash buttons as LP SPD can catch your normals!
Then, once he’s down, do your best to keep him under pressur (ie. stop kunais if he has EX meter)
VS Bison:
Again, you’re giving him too much respect. Stop going back. You are cornering yourself!
When he starts his stupid infinite knee press pressure, try to just relax and analyze him. Every time you were cornered you were just mashing something hoping it’d work (EX Raida? EX Kazegiri?). You shouldn’t. Look at him. He puts braindead pressure? Neutral jump. He mixes it? Wait, cr.MK, or st.LK which, if correctly timed, will stuff knee press startup. And if he didn’t do anything, you’d recover quickly anyway.
Devil reverse/head stomp: command dash if you don’t want to think about it. OR, actual good solution: late cr.MK to make it whiff and then punish.
When he’s down and EX Psycho crusher happy (which he was), try to use more setups aimed at making him loose back charge. This can help you a lot.
OS neckbreaker beats teleport, sure, but looses to EX PC
Overall, again, be more patient, master your distances. Nobody likes this matchup (except Saunic lol), but it also looks like you don’t actually know it. Learn it first, then maybe you can complain
Anyway, it must have been hard focusing with this stupid commercial music on background ^^
when they play katy perry or miley cyrus or some stupid teeny bopper shit, i ALWAYS win. lmao. i think its cuz my character is a bubbly high school girl so in my head i think “oh ya this is my theme song party in the USAAAAAA”.
vs. Moon Tiger (4/5-1)
– (I didn’t have a Stick and it was a little too laggy until I switched to Training, so I won’t mention execution)
– Also there are no videos this time, also no spoiler because it’s too short
[details=Spoiler]I said no spoiler!

If I were to create a Team of Ibuki players who I’d like to join a tournament with, I would include a future version of you. Let me guess, you’re much better at a different game? You have a great attitude when it comes to playing. You learn from your mistakes fast, have a great memory about my habits, and you play very carefully.
However despite my poor execution (sometimes jumping or doing cr.MK when I wanted to Tsumuji) it would seem like I had an easier time beating you. To be honest, a bunch of really old school tricks like baiting you mashing with Kazegiri xx Super and Yoroitoshi traps worked well against you, but I can already tell that they won’t work again. What’s you have going for you is that you don’t worry about trying something new or testing what works. Every Ibuki player I know that does that got very good quickly.
Your problem as Ibuki -
Bottom line is, you don’t have much experience or knowledge. I’m guessing it’s the first 5 or 6 months you’ve been playing her (please I don’t want to be wrong about that otherwise it’ll be rude!). Simply playing more and posting videos for us to critique will make you a better player. You don’t need to bother about changing your way of thinking or anything like that. Because you have a lack of knowledge, really basic set-ups will work on you. The entire cast is full of gimmicks that any scrub can use.
What’s so good about you anyway -
I mentioned earlier that I really wanted to play you ages ago:

You walk forward, abuse what works until it does, experiment with new ideas quickly, and to be more specific, you were tick-throwing the crap out of me. I feel that if I taught you you’d be one of the best Ibuki’s I’ve fought in no time.
For now (I know my channel isn’t up anymore) for the Ibuki mirror match alone, please watch this video and practice the Unblockable and how to punish EX Kazegiri
Still a forum n00b, so I’m not sure how to quote separate things individually, sorry. When you ask being better at different game, you mean other fighting game? This is the only FG I play right now. I used to play Tekken 3 when I was like 7, but I only played the CPU, and I just quit playing fighting games for 10+ years.
Then, I came back to fighting games out of a blue and I thought buying a FG for a PC was a stupid idea and waste of money, but I end up enjoying it lol. I’ve been playing SF in general for 4 months and a half now. I jump straight to Ibuki as my first and main character. I know that I still have A LOT to learn, and it’s amazing how fundamentals can win games despite of your executions. I knew tick throws from some time ago, but when you remind me to use it more, I started doing more haha. Thanks for the video, I’ll check it out! I think I know how to do unblockable against Ibuki after EX NB with jump in mk after mk CD. Yesterday, I also tried walk forward, 2 st,lp, jump in lk after regular nb and hits your wake up backdash, so I assume it works? I rechecked Mingo’s data after I found out the f+lk unblockable doesn’t work on her. Anyway, thanks for the critique. I’ll make sure that I’ll train hard, learn more, and get new experiences. May I please be your student? =D
Because you basically have a story that’s just like how I got into SF… If not FGs, Martial Arts then? Either way you have a great mindset for versus. I’m so glad you played even less than 5 months, I’m glad I was right.
May I please be your teacher?
EDIT: I just remembered, you did a wake-up cr.MK to punish an unblockable. You’re the only person besides Iyo who has done that to me.
No martial arts either, I wish I could take one though. Having you as a teacher will be a great honor, I accept! When I played with Trogdor, he did wake up cr.mk on my unblockable, so it just snapped to me.
