Ibuki Critique Thread ver.2

Absolutely true. I’ll get hit by random stuff on the first round of the first match I play. a FT10 against this kind of player would probably end up with a 10 - 1 for me ^^

What absolutely annoys me is when I’m playing online and someone I’m beating consistently like maybe 10-0 manages to get a single win on me, and then just leaves the lobby or kicks me. Not that I hate the player for thinking he’s so pro for getting a single win or leaving on a win, but that I wasn’t able to beat this guy every game.

And then there’s the other case where if I beat them too convincingly they’ll just kick me out anyways, like if I pick my main chicken Ibuki. So then online has become a battle of me trying to win while still making my opponent think that they can still win, usually with me picking random sub characters like Yun, followed by them picking appropriate counterpick characters just to get that one win.

Sorry for not really contributing to the purpose of this thread, but hopefully this was a cool story for you bros.

This is why I just play at the local arcades. If people rage-quit, they get made fun of until they cry. At the very least, they lose, get salty, have everyone mock them, they lose money, AND they have to wait another 10-15 minutes to get another chance at winning.

The way I see it, it then becomes a huge challenge for me even if I’m vastly superior to whoever I’m playing, because I’m using a crappy character (or otherwise not my main chicken) and I’m still trying to win consistently like 10-0, meanwhile my opponent has the luxury of counterpicking and only needs one win.

I would definitely play at the local arcades if I had one. Hell, I’d definitely play with my local scene as well, but tbh the scene here isn’t very big and not many here are any better than your average online warrior.

No scene? I thought you lived out near Atlanta? They have a fairly decent local scene out there, and definitely one of the biggest tournaments of the year.

According to Googlemaps, that’s about an 18hr drive… yeah not gonna happen. I barely even make it to Massachusetts’ scenes and that’s a 1hr drive.

Holy shit dude, does your place even have a regular arcade with claw machines and stuff? I only use Xbox/PC for training now. Found a few local players and a really good 3S Makoto player with godlike footsies.

Well, I guess we have a Dave and Busters. But it’s not like a real arcade with any actual competitive gaming cabinets; just your typical casual shooter (eg: Time Crisis) and racing shit. Damn if only they at least had DDR, I would probably be there like all the time rofl. There used to be a (functioning) DDR machine at my school’s mini-arcade and I used to go there regularly until they repurposed the place :frowning:

Anyways, most of the locals here play Marvel, and I assume they are bad at it; Marvel is a stupid game anyways. The only player here to really put up a fight is an Akuma player from MA. There’s also a solid gaming scene further in MA, like 1+ hr drive, including Stevens’ bros and LuckyD (best Dsim). For reference, I think Gabe (Thrillhouse) played the better Steven at last year’s Evo. Put him in losers iirc.

Sadly, the East Coast is all about Marvel, since they’re the home of MVC2. I guess the game is much more hype than SF, which I guess it is, just because there’s so much shit going on, and fireworks going off in the background, and colors and shit. Only a few talented SF players out in the East Coast.

Move to California! More specifically San Francisco cause that’s where I live and there’s one arcade that has players like Illiterate, Mr. Naps, and sometimes Ricky Ortiz and Filipino Champ coming to play in tournaments. I’m not sure if those two live in SF though. Probably not.

Online is bs. I lose to random ass Ibuki just because he mashes during my blockstrings, which causes me to lose like 60% (he had full ultra cause he was at 8% before I dropped my combo due to lag) and then for some reason, Ibuki doesn’t block hien and I get screwed over. I love how bigass companies like CASHCOM have shitty netcode on their games, and Skullgirls has amazing netcode but is an indie game. (Aside from having konami as a sponsor or whatever)

If I had monies, I would do a lot of things. Since I don’t have monies, I don’t forsee myself moving anywhere anytime soon, unless for some reason I absolutely cannot find a job here, in which case I would probably move to MA.

Damascus is in the East Coast now, here is at least one talented player =P

@TheOnlyLite: it’s not about shitty netcode. It’s rather that the US is a too big country for online fighting games. When I used to play SF in France, I could play any French guy with no lag. Problem? France is the same size as any US state…
They shouldn’t order online regions as just “countries” (because being in NY, a guy from Montreal is definitely a better pick than any guy from the East Coast)

Yeah, I have seen his videos. I am actually keep repeating her combos in training room and one thing that i hate is when the time i have frame trapped the enemy and then my combos simply dropped unintentionally. It really annoys me.

If I play on Endless, I don’t really mind losing, I just need to play solidly as Izuna and Ming told me. No reckless rushdown, random neckbreakers, DP, dashing, and my favorite move the fucking “Jumping.” Yah i don’t really like doing those. I eat my opponent’s punishment.

So, It’s like beginning of using footsies make me slow in the game.

About mashing, yeah I hate to do that but I can’t control myself especially in rank. I sometimes/or I’ll say always lose my concentration and goal to stay calm…it usually comes up with randomness without even noticing.

I hope I can play with you guys. I’m not always playing endless because I hate it, so many people in the room, the host is kicking your or leaving the room, etc.

Don’t play endless if the lobby is big. I personnally never join lobbies with more than 3 slots, so I won’t have to wait for ages to play a single match. Or play endless with your friend list.

I never join any endless lobby with more than 1 person in it. The lobby size doesn’t matter (1/2 is just as good as 1/8) since I should be aiming to win every game anyways. And if I happen to lose and be forced to wait in line, I just leave. It’s against my policy to wait in line. I fired up AE to play AE, not sit there and wait and watch other (noobs) play. That’s what Youtube is for.

The only exception to this is if I’m eating and I have nothing better to watch. In that case I usually pick an autopilot character like CViper and then play until my opponent is about to die, then let him/her win so I can go back to eating.

I fully expect you to de-throne DragonGod, the supposed “Best Ibuki in USA” that nobody has ever heard of.

I’ve never even heard this name ^^
The only US Ibuki, aside from SRK members, I know so far is ClakeyD, and I’m not sure he’s still playing SF IV. But still I’m looking forward to meet NVNiko in a Big Two & Mingo somewhere on XBL/AE PC =D

Damascus when are we gonna play AE PC? Do you have aim/msn/raptr or something?

Exactly. No one’s heard of him, but he’s supposedly god-like. But it just sounds like New York-style shit-talk and arrogance.

Clark plays every once in awhile, but he’s not nearly as active as he used to be. Still a good Ibuki, but he’s focusing more on PC gaming (especially when a certain game drops on May 15th).

I have Twitter/Skype/Facebook if needed. I’ll try to play you, I’ll train a bit to get used to PC timings anyway
