Haha, I know they’re not meant to be used for damage, it’s just that I face a lot of people that can be easily punished with a Kunai when they keep blindly spinkicking forward (Ken, Ryu, etc). I’m sure there’s a more damaging way I could be punishing them, but I’m not quite sure of how yet. Anyway, I guess you guys are right, it’s not much of a nerf.
cr.HP into reset mixup. Or neckbreaker or U1. Though tatsu has very little use in this matchup except to catch FA.
What are some new AE combos Ibuki can do?
I just saw j.HP > s.MPx2 > s.MK > NB
^ that’s an old combo.
If we assume nothing else got buffed/changed except her st.MK, then she can now combo it off anything that gives +5. Pretty much the only thing she has that gives +5 on hit would be f+MK overhead, which sounds pretty good though I haven’t seen any AE Ibukis do it yet.
If f+MK , st.MK works, then landing an overhead can easily combo into neckbreaker/tsumuji, making it very viable with the exception of its slow startup.
Has anyone messed around with her unblockable after the new neck breaker spacing? I’ve been hitting them more often now on Console and was curious if anyone discovered a new setup for that in AE.
Been plaing AE for a couple of days, gonna point out some stuff I’ve noticed.
-She does a lot less damage, like wow.
-Chipping on her dp seems to be nerfed also.
-At first I dint notice the faster st.mk cause I was timing it the same but now linking cr.lp into st.mk is a joke.
-On that note, overhead into st.mk is cake.
-You’ll adjust to the new neckbreaker spacing after doing it like twice.
-]nblockable still possible wth new spacing, ex is the same.
–Target Combo 4 into loop wrks on Yun, tc4 into jab works also.
-Trying to do unblockable on Yun but they always mash DP since it sends em flying.
-Kunai after blocked ex DP from Ibuki beats out a mashed EX DP from Yun, lol.
-New Target Combo after sweep is kind of annoying actually. I get it by mistake a lot.
-Not 100% sure but I think I saw someone quick tech up afterher sweep now, gonna confrm.
Might have more stuff but forgot at the moment, I’ll be here another 3 das so let me know if you need somethin tested. I remember trying the loop on the other 3 but I only remembered about Yun for some reason since he’s gonna be the problem.
On the subject of Yun, I’ve only played a couple Yuns, maybe only 1 that really had him down though and unfortunately I was testing out Evil Ryu (ass) at the moment. Here’s my problem with him. His dive kicks are retarded, his ex moves are also as stupid as the seem in every video. He can also do them really low and hi HK version goes so damn far that it actually catches a lot of cr.mk spam and she gets (or any shoto) gets blown the fuck up. They aren’t as easy to play as like Cammy, so you won’t really ever have to worry about getting randomed out by a scrubby Yun/Yang. Dive kick pressure isn’t as scary as Super Cammy as they have like no priority. But its actually kind of annoying because if you don’t know abou the setups on knockdown, they’ll mix you the hell up. Deciding on U1 or U2 but it looks like U2 since nothing but lunge punch is in proper distance for a punish on block.
Real quick, I also don’t know where it says that they buffed her TC4, but its actually bothering me. I don’t know I its just me, but I seem to be randomly missing them sometimes (not crouching either.) It aso triggers randomly more after ST.MP and after crouching jab into standing jab (which you shouldn’t do anymore really.)
How does Yun get in? Just dive kick spam like Rufus or does he actually have some normals to use?
Also just theory fighter, but would pre-emptively spamming st.MP put an end to Yun using dive kick as a footsie?
MP works a lot better than it does on other dive kick characters. Like it really does have bad priority.
I’m not sure on him getting in but it is a lot of it is dive kicks and all his normals seem to push forward and have retarded range. Like a lot of times it doesn’t even seem like they’re hitting you they are. Not a lot of Yun players so far but I think the first thing everyone should do when they get the game is go to training mode with Oni lol. I played some guy that wasn’t even good but all his normals and specials are super weird look, it’ll catch you off guard first time for sure.
Cr.lk into full tc4 and lk loop after connects on yun, far jab doesn’t.
So umm, my 27 win streak just got broken by a Dan…
Exactly what loop are you talking about?
cr.LK , TC4 xx lk.tsumuji , far.st.LP , st.MK xx Special ?
lol troll?
Just got back from Round 1, a couple people showed up towards the end.
Yeah sorry, by loop I meant the lk swipe kicks with the jab into knee after TC4. Connects on an empty jump cr.lk into tc4 etcetc.
So I played another Yun. I wasn’t 100% sure on this so I didn’t bring it up bit his CR.LK has more distance than Ibuki’s ST.MP. I was just throwing it out cause it was brought up and uhh, I don’t really recommend it from far. From close yeah, cause his dive kick pressure is nowhere near as scary as Super Cammy. As far as him getting in, its kinda scary because his dive kick can go at 3 different angles. A couple of times I did back MP too early and he would do HK dive kick and it would stuff it or w.e. There is also an extremely high possibility that the unblockable works on Yun. Obviously I can’t be 100% yet but I’m pretty certain I set it up the same way and got unblockable results. His DP moves his body forward a lot so he gets out of vortex but you should be able to neckbreaker/raida it kinda like balrogs headbutt.
On the subject of Balrog, the st mk into hp jump in OS doesn’t work anymore before of the spacing obviously. I tried a couple times to find some correct spacing but couldn’t get anything on the fly. Balrog players ain’t bad around here. One thing though, he doesn’t feel ass scary anymore because he can’t jab all day anymore, and some guy did 3crlp into crlk headbutt u2 and I swore it did like nothing lol. Oh yeah, headbutt is really bad now hahaha. Like I jumped in, he did it/whiffed, I thought about it, and then did neckbreaker to punish and it hit lol.
There was a pretty good Yang there but my friend is an idiot and doesn’t know how to work a camera or something. I only got 1 match and its basically just me running him over. So mad lol. Only thing scary about Yang is his Super to be honest. His Dive Kicks pressure is a joke and it doesn’t seem to ever cross up. I think it might have only crossed up once after a knockdown but I wasn’t playing so I can’t be sure. His ex command dash seems to be hit invincible but I jumped in and grabbed that shit on start up so w/e.
Evil ryu is um,lol. I don’t think there’s anything scary about him to be honest. His teleport is so damn bad. Pretty sure I just straight up reaction U2ed him once on a wake up teleport because of how little distance it travels.
This Dan was no joke. He actually has combos now and he had some pretty solid pressure in the corner lol.
Adon is still w.e, the nerf on his wake up is good but he doesn’t glow on ex wall dive till last second and it kinda looked faster or something. Maybe its cause I wasn’t expecting it to be honest.
How do you know his cr.LK has more distance than st.MP? And why don’t you recommend far.st.MP spam? Does it get stuffed or something?
What about spamming b+MP? Or maybe far.st.LP spam?
What kind of spacing? Too far? Too close?
What about his rekka pressure? According to many, it’s supposed to be broken since it’s spammable, safe, and FADC-able into mixup or ultra.
Vids or gtfo.
Yeah, cr.lk looks like th move to spam with Yun and when I thought he was near range I tried spamming far st.mp to link into st.mk, cr.lk went under it and hit me. ST.MP is fine when he’s near you since dive kicks have pretty bad priority.
That old OS on Balrog makes you land right in his face, you get hit with headbutt or w.e ex move he does.
Hopefully I get to play more Yang but I didn’t get to play him as much as I wanted since our taxi came around that time and finding a taxi here after midnight is like striking oil. His rekka pressure isn’t nearly as scary as Fei Longs, could be cause its not fully developed yet. I think his jab rekka is safe but you can only get two reps out of it. I’ll check today when I get there since it’ll prolly be empty when I get there. I have to see if jab rekka completion even knocks down. I only played as Yang once since he’s m least favorite out of the 4, so I can’t really getin depth. I’d say first time fight him like a bad fei long with a mediocore DP and a weakass dive kick instead of the godly chicken wing.
Apparently both of Dans Mediums got a really good buff and this guy was doing stuff like cr.lk,st.lk,cr.mp -> tatsu or something lol. I asked him what’s up and he was loving the new Dan. He’s prolly better than Evil Ryu lol.
I keep on forgetting to mention this but her Back MP anti air feels exactly the same to me.
Well that’s to be expected. st.MP generally loses to low pokes.
What about f+LK to counter poke? Would that work? Is it any better?
Well the mechanics behind the old option select on Boxer is that Boxer moves forward quite a bit when he does any of his dash punches and/or headbutt (think Ken’s f+MK) before it becomes active. I believe EX dash punches should be able to absorb on the first startup frame, but the setup is not meaty I think, so it’s not much of a concern. Unless the Boxers you play want to take the risk and delay their reversal lol.
Try walking forward a bit before doing the jump, such that you still noncrossup but it almost looks like crossup.
Good thing the guy I came here is fucking emo and gets all offended when I ask him to record some matches. I only got two matches and they were our first so they were super scrubby. I’ll write down what I remember later.
Ryan Hart has no idea what he’s talking about btw.
Sorry for all the consecutive post, but my phone or browser doesn’t really like this new layout. A couple good players showed up today and I got a lot more Yun practice because the guy came back to play more. I’ll talk about Yun tomorrow since I wantto make this short and go zzz so I can get there early for my last day.
Just gonna confirm some things people might be curious about:
-Ex swipe kicks still misses on Chun in the corner after the third hit a lot.
-Her TC4 is awful on a lot of crouching characters (whiffs on yun crouch block, hits yang) and its also still terrible after crossing up dudley. Don’t see what buff they’re talking about.
-Fei Long felt harder lmao. MP into Chicken Wing combo hit me today…
-ST. MP, ST. MK. LK swipe kick loop works on Yang.
More on Yun tomorrow, vids Thursday.
how so?
By saying Ibuki stands a chance against Yun, lmao.
Or perhaps he knows more than you do. I disagree with him too, but only ignorantly. He’s played against F-Word a lot, so there’s probably a bunch of ways to stop Yun’s DP ect.
errr, actually the last few times i went to game safari there were two different ibuki’s giving daigo, as well as everyone else in the arcade, the business. everytime daigo finally beat one of them, they’d play again and he’d lose.
she most certainly can hang.
Oh, Izuna is back. Gotta be careful what I say so I don’t anger you and make you delete more post.
Anyone, especially a character like Ibuki can give anyone the “bussiness”. I had 21 wins in a row against 2 people, a solid Yun and a Chun. I still think the match up is terrible.
Mingo, Yangs rekka pressure is nowhere near as bad as Fei’s. I played against a Yang yesterday (he played a good Ibuki, so he knew what she did), you can definately jab after his rekka a lot safer than against Fei’s. The spacing and pushback is nowhere as bad and he was getting hit by far standing jab consistently. He doesn’t cross up on with Dive Kicks so the only thing to look for is when he does his J MK I think, got hit by that a couple of times (cross up while expecting dive kick) but it was prolly because it was still new to me. Think of Cammy’s J lk cross up but a little harder to see. TC4 into LK loop works on yang.
I was playing this really super solid Ryu player that apparetly plays a lot with Clakey D and I almost want to say his Evl Ryu was harder to deal with. His cr.mk into fireball can’t be focused/u2’ed/ex neckbreakered out of from almost max range and it makes her feel like she’s getting locked down more than against normal Ryu. Unblockable doesn’t seem to work against him but TC4 with lk swipe kick loop works on him. His teleport is also assssss though, like it should never be used. You have enough time to recover from your vortex mixup dash up to him and be in range for knee -> special. He bleeds like a mofo but damn he can wreck face if he touches you.
I honestly don’t know what to say against Yun. Nevermind what I said about his dive kick pressure from up close not being scary. It is actually pretty bad. He just does things and ends up in your face, its retarded. Don’t ever focus against him as he can do this stupid target combo that pushes him soo forward and right after you get hit you can’t touch a button because it seems like he’s at advantage and when I tried to far standing jab him after his MP or whatever it was would counter hit me. I’m actually still debating between U1 and U2 for this match, I’ve had more success with U2. Besides the obvious, you can actually do U2 as soon as you see his ex lunge punch come out and you won’t go into that juggle state even though he looks like he’s kinda airborne. His commnd grab has such retarded range and the setups for it are extremely misleading. Yun can also ex shoulder out of a lot of vortex. If Yun does a random U1 and you block it, you can’t dash fast enough to catch him with a TC4 after recovery, its pretty quick. Dive kick stuffs back MP so hard. CR MP stays out a bit and seems to stuff it 100! I’ll try and post more when I get home from my flight.
Cammy is so much easier now. Don’t know if its just me but it seemed easier to punish a mashed out dp on vortex. I’m kinda bad at inputting neck breaker for some reason but dashing up to her and hitting standing jab felt easy. It feels so good to just be able to block everything and just react to grabs. She usually goes out of range after a couple pokes and actually has to alk forward to stay on you now so its dangerous for her now.
Rose U2 nerf is so bad haha. Funny hearing Rose players complaning. They actually have to block now so they’re all QQ.
There’s a couple things that work against Ibuki that didn’t work before and I’m having a real hard time remembering them. Overall, I already miss Super Ibuki and after this major that’s coming up right now for me I’m prolly just switching to Yun. Her damage nerf is pretty bad and TC4 seems to just miss more now. 1 frame faster ST.MK isn’t really anything to b happy about, besides overhead into MK there really isn’t anything else she can do with it. It doesn’t really “enhance” her footsies in anyays I think, and it just her easy combos even easier. I guess a lot of her bad matchups did get nered but that doesn’t really make her a better character.
