Guys, maybe Niko and Tsu. Can you test out BnB/TC4 -> HK Tsumuji (no ender) -> FADC (2 bars). If Ibuki’s more postive on hit/block maybe it’s a good way to get in again?
Is it really worth 2 bars just to get back in? Why not just do b+MK xx f+MK? After a blocked tsumuji, you’re generally at about max range b+MK.
Hey so what’s the verdict on Ibuki’s c.lk? Easier to link off of now or what?
The twins get wtfpwned by Gief.
It is very easy to shut down dive kicks with lariat. Command throws usually mean you’re taking a big risk every time you try to pressure.
Just imagine why Gief is a bad matchup for Rufus/Cammy.
Bipson was a bad matchup for Gief. Chun is also a terrible matchup for Gief, not because she has a projectile though. Basically any character with a safe, spammable, long range normal/fireball/poke will do well against Gief.
Just go by the community tier list: Community Tierlist - overview
So, what’s the bottom line? Is Ibuki better or worse in AE?
We’ll find out soooooooooooooooon. Or not.
Why is she worst against those specific characters?
This doesn’t make any sense. How do you pressure with runaway Kunai? You do have an answer to Genei-Jin, it’s called blocking. I never saw jump back Kunai as a deciding factor when playing Fei Long, I usually have to worry about everything else lol.
I don’t know how T-Hawk was ever in her favor. Does anyone have an idea what EX-Greenhand leaves Gief at now? Cause if anything, you could prolly start using U1 to counter that. At least keep him in check a bit.
you could use u1 to counter banishing flat even in ssf4 it is negative frames on block( unless this was changed as well in AE but I couldn’t see it being)…also I’ve seen people DP after being hit with his ex green hand and win…I’m sure U1 can counter it or at least make him think about throwing it out.
Also, the reasons you are complaining about jump back kunai make no sense… you either block rekkas and punish against fei long, or you stay outside his range and whiff punish with sweep, or you can nuetral jump and mk…bottom line is that jump back kunai isn’t very good to begin with. Not saying that fei is an easy match or anything just that your complaints make no sense.
I was wondering if EX Green Hand in AE was negative, I already know normal green hand is terrible.
I don’t get how you would ever beat Cammy or Rufus if you’re so worried about EX DP costing you 3 meters. I know it’s hard to block but you can’t have a character with tons of mixup and tons of defensive options or else you’ll just get Super Cammy again.
If T-Hawk is simply walking forward, what’s to stop him from eating CR MP-> neckbreaker? I don’t really think this matchup is any different now. I never saw jump back Kunai as something amazing though. I thought it was just gay and annoying to be honest.
I fail to see how jump back kunai kept people from walking forward. it allows you to pester the opponent a bit but it seems to me that you are only slowly cornering yourself and that people can just absorb and go through non ex kunai to walk you into the corner. I think it just means that we all need to play a stronger ground game which is aided by a buffed st.MK (this isnt a spamable poke but it is great fro whiff punishing) also cr. mp is great for keeping people from walking forward as well. I realize that ibuki may not have the best pokes in the game but i think they are more than sufficient to make up for the loss of jump back kunai.
Also about gief what i meant was that because all green hands are punishable on block means that you just need to learn to block them so that gief thinks twice about throwing them out. Obviously if he hits you u are at disadvantage but you should be.
About fei you need to stay out of his range and whiff punish. he had great pokes but they are also punishable. Once again, not claiming this to be an easy match-up.
I havent played AE except for about 20 minutes passing through University pinball (no vs. yun/yang exp) in Philly so this is all theory fighter based on super sf4 and should be taken as such.
EDIT: since we are on the subject could someone who has had the chance to play AE often tell me how well the kunai okizeme works on the twins/ the shoto clones?
How so?
I disagree with the “jump kunai nerf = no more kunai pressure.” Jump back kunai did very little except give your opponent more space, push yourself to the corner, and all for the possibility of a 50dmg kunai, or otherwise just being “gay and annoying” like littlesushi put it. Neutral jump kunai was/is a much stronger pressure tool imo.
Most Fei’s will not be whiffing lp.rekka. Not a bad idea nontheless.
I can confirm that neutral jump pwns Fei. Or rather, Mago can confirm: Versus City ? Blog Archive ? The Three Gods Rap ? Part 2
Ibuki doesn’t quite have Adon’s fast jump speed, but she does have neutral jump kunai. That should be equivalent enough, right?
Ibuki’s st.MP is much faster and spammable than cr.HP. If it was something that is also fast, spammable, and special cancellable, like Ryu’s cr.MK, then that’d be another story.
Not sure what you mean by Ibuki has a harder time blocking than Yun. Just because she needs EX to reversal?
I completely disagree with “kunai prevents people walking forward.” st.MK xx neckbreaker prevents people from walking forward, and cr.HK TC. With jump back kunai, what’s to stop them from simply FA xx forward dash and taking the free space you give them?
Mingo, My thoughts exactly thank you for articulating them so well.
Sorry if I missed this - What exactly changed with the jump back Kunai? More recovery frames or what?
1st kunai damage was reduced to 30 from 50. and the jump back kunai now works like nuetral jump kunai in that instead of floating back a bit you fall straight down after throwing the kunai.
Oh, damn. That’s pretty bad at my level, where I probably hit and do damage with at least 6-10 Kunais per round :P. But I’m sure it’s not a big deal at higher levels - the damage reduction, I mean. Thanks!
kunai was never that damaging to begin with and generally its best to use them as part of the zoning rather than depend on them. not a terrible damage nerf
Yeah people always wonder why they get raped in the corner as Ibuki. That’s usually the same scrub jumping back and throwing Kunais all round like an idiot. I usually just tell people to stop playing her all together when I see stuff like that.
