He got a huge buff in AE when it comes to our match-up. This match is actually not all that bad for Ibuki in Super, as Fei Long doesn’t really get uses out of the chicken-wing, he basically plays like a Rog. No reason why you can’t mix him up, =)
Lots of Ibuki footage in the Nagoya Street Battle!

Motempest,
could you give me some tips on cl.hk to sjc command dash. I have never even been able to do it once in training and it seems you got it pretty consistent. that would be greatly appreciated!!
I had the same problem. You’re probably doing it too fast. What really helped me was that I was spamming buttons. Once I slowed it down, and did one button press for each move, then I started seeing better results.
dont think, FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEL!
@Leggo
Don’t know if this will help or not but remember that only the second hit of cl.HK is SJCable. if you do it too early you get nothing, too late and you get a jump.
@MoTempest
Could you explain how to do that Focus Attack Shenanigan in the posted videos? I don’t know if its something that only possible in AE but I was messing around with it in the lab earlier today and couldn’t even get it to start. I assume something wrong with my timing or maybe character specific.
Thanks to all the Ibuki players with access to AE for providing change updates.
EDIT: Took a look at the FA shenanigan again and realized that the issue was that I wasn’t hitting the command dash on the first hit of ageman. that shenanigan is fun to do.
I just played AE today and I was really happy with what they did to Ibuki:)
And I might be wrong but this is what it felt like for me
-First off, I’m glad she got the one thing I really wanted; a faster walk speed. I don’t know if it was just me but her walk speed definitely feels faster. Paired with her buffed mk this will make some matches easier footsy wise
-The new target combo is awesome. Its great for punishing focus attacks and staying on your opponent safely without the need to command dash
-I don’t think Jump back kunai is that bad, just be careful vs yun, yang, and rufus, because it could definitely cost you the match
-The command dash animation has changed and maybe it’s recovery?
-I’m actually happy about the change with the neck breaker. It forces the Ibuki player to perform more mixups and get creative, which makes Ibuki scarier in my opinion. You can sj lk crossup from that distance and hk command dash into instant kunai.
Whoever said that Ibuki was nerfed is wrong
that sounds awesome sounds like we have more ways to vortex but we can still normal jump and kunai crossup as well still right or do u have to super jump to cross it up because she gets pushed a little further back?
how was b mp actually nerfed was it some sort of hitbox nerf that makes it bit more spacing dependent to stop jump ins or is it just a little harder 2 cancel into a dash?
1 last question how is the gouken matchup now is it really bad for ibuki now since he got buffed cuz tbh i thought it was a little difficult now in super atleast 4 me he is and does the cheap grab into ultra 1 still do a whole lot of damage or did it get scaled quite a bit
Anyone’s who’s played as Ibuki in AE won’t say she’s nerfed, well, that’s the impression I got.
Best way I can explain it to you is to to the motion (tiger knee) during the second hit and hit the kick button on rhythym as if there were a third. It’s all the same beat. Use audio cues…not visual. Practice it enough and you’ll eventually commit it to muscle memory. It’s actually one of her easier SJC’s imo. Just a matter of learning the timing
Niko: Im gonna have to try out that hk command dash instant kunai! Thanks for the input
yea i can vouch for this as well, my prob was that i was doing the sjc motion too soon and once i slowed it right down and inputted it a lot later, it started coming out. i think ill stick to more basic stuff for now though i tend to backdash a lot more than i forward dash after a focus attack.
motempest did you test f-hk yet?
interesting
Thank you everyone for the tips! going to hit training mode right now.
Super got nerfed.

elaborate?^
Well I used it once against a geif player to chip him out and it definitely does less chip damage and after you release it in the air and it looks like she flies back further (i think). Overall she feels good and its easier to footsy now. I managed to pull off some wins on chris hu, autodemon, and issei. Ill be back there tommorow. If anybody wants me to test a setup or something let me know.

Played AE again and Ibuki is definitely feeling like she might be in the top tier. So here are some findings for you people that can’t play AE yet.
St. forward -
This move might just be too good. It could stuff practically anything with its amazing priority. It even beat out rose’s cr. Strong today. Definitely something you want to throw out there.
Neckbreaker-
Believe it or not its better now then it was in super. The new spacing creates alot more mixups, keeping your opponent nervous and second guessing how to block. Here are some setups I found;
-jumping roundhouse or fierce can be used as safe jumps
-walk forward and sj meaty kunai
-lk command dash and sj meaty kunai. This is my favorite so far because its very ambiguous.
-hk command dash and instant sj kunai
-whiff a normal of your choice while taking a step forward and mk or command dash
-Matchup thoughts and opinions
Alot of her bad matchups seemed to have shifted in her favour now with the nerfs the characters have got. Yes im serious about these notes;)
Rose- 6-4 Or 5-5
St. forward just flat out beats her cr. Strong. Add in our OS’s and you will control the pace of the matchup once you get a knockdown. Note I havent played a Rose player that used ultra 2 yet.
Bison- 5-5
Same as Rose plus we dont have to worry about his ultra 2 as much
Honda- 6-4
Honda is free once we get the knockdown. Make sure he doesn’t get the life lead
Yun and Yang 5-5
This matchup can go either way. Whoever takes advantage of the knockdown better usually wins
Barlog 5-5
A turtle Barlog can still give you hell. But this might change once we test os’s from the new neckbreaker
Dhalsim 5-5
This all depends on how good the dhalsim player actually is at keeping you out
Zangief 5.5-4.5
In our favour for the most with Zangeif’s knockdown nerf. Just be careful of good mind games and ultra 2
Viper 5-5
Sagat 5-5
Ken 4-6
IMO Ibuki’s worst matchup. Ken has good zoning, good rushdown, good mixups, and good OS’s for Ibuki. Its really hard to get an offense going on him.
Well these are my opinions on what the game feels like so far. Lets see what happens:)

How are you able to play AE? Do you have your own AE arcade cabinet or something? Or do you just go to the arcades alot?
Btw how is Honda’s dps? Can he still drain half your lifebar with one combo?
