well, i played ibuki vs yun for an hour today… really fun mach-up IMO. lots of back and forth and waiting for openings. yun has the upper hand IMO.
her specials put her further than in Super, it is harder to get punished when on block (except neckbreaker and c.grab)
back kunai sends you straight down, you have to change your kunai game. really good vs projectile characters cause you can inch your way in on them and not have to back up as much
it was harder to do cr.lp s.lp s.mk for some reason… might have been my timing today, but it just felt like it wasn’t coming out like it should.
her new TC is a charm cr.hk s.hk sjc … really nice on block cause you can back jump then kunai and land in a good position. sorta sucks cause close cr.hk s.hk doesn’t launch straight up, but Ibuki is not like she was in 3S anyway… so fug it.
generally, her game play has been mildly changed now, but i think it will be a slightly good change for more aggression and less kunai runaways.
Oh man all this talk about AE Ibuki being better for the aggressive player makes me wanna go play it ASAP. My (somewhat) local arcade is supposed to be getting this today(Monday), unfortunately I’ll be working late shifts for the next two days but after that, I’ll go check it out for myself~
Wow I just have to say watching M0-T3MP35T play against Sean G “Guile” and Dan “Akuma” on you tube has made me speechless for once, when refereeing to SSFIV. This Guy is and this is the first time this word has been posted by me “GODLIKE”.
Take a look at these vids and Disagree “I Dare You”
Yeah that TC from 3s was mainly good because of the Air TC/Super mix up and since the air tc doesnt work that way any more its not that big of a loss though the safety would be nice.
jesus freaking christ Mo! That shit at the end of the guile match was absolutely absurd!
Also, I’m really glad her tuna boats got better. I was worried after what they did with her in 3s we’d never really get them back. sick.
thanks for the props! There’s a whole playlist of some of my matches here if anybody is interested. I had some good matches with Marn and Mike Ross yesterday at super…though im not sure if anybody was recording.
At this point I really do think Ibuki is up there among tiers…though she still has some weaknesses, though who doesn’t? The best thing is that no one character completely shuts her down now. She can play a solid defensive/offensive game with or without vortex. Im happy with her. New target combo and s.mk/s.lk are so great. Makes people respect her low game and footsies (finally)
tuna boat was a translation error that people were getting when the original loc test ibuki changes were posted in japanese.so its a joke term that references to her kunais.
it looks like shes going to be very solid now. I’m excited and happy that I stuck with Ibuki and Dudley. They look VERY promising for AE and regardless of if EVO is going to do AE or not…i’m playing AE because its the way this game should have been made. None of this hold down back all day and get “Counter Hit” or poked all game crap. So sick of campy people sitting there and just shootin projectiles and abusing bust long range pokes and amazing dmg outputs. If I wanted to play that game I’d go play Vanilla.
hmm very interesting…guess i will re practice ibuki again. from wut i seen the new vortex system is really sweet. cr.lk looks amazing as well as the new TC and more sjc (yay)…me happy with her and need to play GODDAMN AE!FUCK…
Well the only thing that i can think of as similarities is that ive always said that ibuki is kinda like a balrog with shittier special moves. She just wants to walk in your face with jabs until she can hit u with one and turn the match completely around. It’s that relentless pressure she can have at close range that i guess is kinda similar to rog. Ohter than that he just wanted something different to do i guess.
motempest was right, B+mp was definitely changed in AE, it still has the same killer priority, but now its first hit has less active frames i imagine. it seems to have gone from 3 active frames to 1, MAYBE 2. it takes better timing to cancel it now… if you are even slightly early the first animation gets skipped and the second one comes out, which is uncancelable. this seems to coincide with capcom wanting this game to be more aggressive… ibuki has a much worse defense in AE than super, and it becomes more apparent after playing a few times.
rufus seems to be a new very bad matchup. as some know i didnt think it was that bad in super (rufus has a slight advantage in super imho), but in ae things have changed:
ibukis jump back kunai got nerfed so its (alot) harder to keep him out, pllus she doesnt recieve as much ex meter for doing jumpback kunais, which means that theres less threat of ex kazegiri against his divekicks which were ibukis best overall way to deal with them.
since his u2 got nerfed, and since ibukis jumpback kunai got nerfed, he is going to switch back to u1 which will make his offense even better against ibuki… (alot better)
just those changes change the matchup drastically as ibukis defense recieves a nerf and rufus’ offense recieves a buff.
