Sorry for being lazy and not testing this myself but could you explain how this works?
Call Balloon Bomb just before throwing, and his throw will make the enemy become invincible so that the bomb can go through them. he shoots them in the head and they are knocked into the bomb.
That’s what I thought. Do you have a good setup for the throw? Because I think the way the assist works, you’re pretty much sending a birthday invitation to the opponent if you don’t have some way to get them to block. I also think that everything Deadpool gains from the Balloon Bomb, can be gained by using Sentinel Drones. The Drones are also a bit better at covering your approaches and can be used to lock people into a mixup. I’m not saying that the Balloon Bomb is bad or that you shouldn’t use MODOK in your team, I just think that calling MODOK a best friend is a bit much. Please prove me wrong :).
I am rather new to the game.
At this point I’m just tying to come up with ideas that other people can expand upon because I’m so bad at this game.
Also, Balloon bomb lets him combo off of overhead canceled into Quick Work. It’s really hard to block, because it goes high one hit and then low really fast.
I’ll do some more experimenting, as I really like both characters.
I’ve found that when going against almost any character with a projectile, when full screen as soon as they throw it teleport behind them and you can get the throw off consistently. I bait people with this all the time.
My main team is currently Deadpool(Katana-Rama), Chun-Li(Lightning Legs), and Akuma(Hurricane Kick). I might switch out Akuma for Haggar, what do you guys think?
I definitely wouldn’t. Akuma is a great anchor, but Haggar is possibly the worst in the game.
Deadpool is one of the chars that can take advantage of Haggar’s hard knockdown so it’s never a bad thing imo. However I would think twice about Chun Li unless you’re truly in love with her. Maybe pick a nice DHC trick partner for Deadpool.
If you wanna put that team together you pretty much need a monster game with Deadpool and Chun assist or your Chun needs to be a monster. I’m sure you know that so good luck ^^
I have been trying to find a team that works with deadpool well for some time now as he is by far my favorite marvel character i have nearly all his comics and love his quirky playstyle and one liners he likes to throw out, i’m fairly good with him but i can never seem to get the right mix of charatcers with him which is rather frustrating…i was wondering if you guys have any advice for building a team around DP, i may as well say what characters im good with as well just to see if its helpful ^^… Wesker, Jill, Doom, Dorm, Akuma, Viper, Wolv, Magneto, Morrigan, Felicia, X-23, Sentinel, Taskmaster… Any help or ideas that i could test would be really apperciated i keep mix and matching but cant seem to get something solid
Deadpool/Taskmaster/Sentinel, Deadpool/Taskmaster-Dormammu-Morrigan/Doom(Missiles) : Lame teams on the top of my head.
Deadpool/Wolverine/Akuma, X-23/Deadpool/Sentinel(Tatsu ^.^), Deadpool/Wesker/Doom(Plasma) : More aggressive teams
You have quite a selection of solid characters to make a team from. It all depends on your playstyle and the characters you enjoy playing. I have a zoning mentality, but if you can resort to half (or all) of the high tiers, then you have quite a selection to choose from.
Almost all of the teams I suggested have a DHC glitch in them, so just pick a team (or teams) you enjoy playing and stick with it. Half of the chemistry of a team comes from familiarity. Almost all of my mix-ups, zoning patterns, and gimmicks came from playing my team exclusively. Good luck finding a team!
But… I am… She’s been one of my mains since SFII… I was highly stoked when they first announced her. It just makes me have to work a little hard on defense, as well as timing my moves properly because with every hit she takes, she feels. I think she compliments Deadpool well though, as I can Tri-jump in the air lobbing grenades as she’s using her Lightning Legs to set them up for a trap. Akuma is the only one of this staple that has even a possibility of being traded out, and that’s for Nemesis if he handles at all like a Neo-Juggernaut with a projectile super.
Edit - But I am in love with the character, not a monster with her.
My current team is Zero (Hadangeki) / Taskmaster (Aim Master Horizontal) / Dormammu (Dark Hole), but I’m considering swapping out Dormammu for Deadpool since ol’ Flamehead is probably my weakest character. (I’d probably make Deadpool my #2 in that case, with Zero still on point.) What would be the benefits or drawbacks of this? Generally, I play rushdown, but keepaway elements are also useful. I’m thinking Deadpool’s Katana-Rama assist would be great with Zero to extend a combo before finishing it with his OTG hyper.
day 1 team
wesker otg assist
deadpool quick work
dormammu black hole
this team won me ranbats 3 weeks in a row earlier in MVC3’s life. It revolves around landing the first hit with Wesker, DHCing out into deadpool, building proper meter and DHC tricking back into Wesker, using Dormammu as LV3 XFC anchor. More of a Wesker team than anything though.
I have been working on making a Deadpool point team that is competitively viable, and I stumbled on a couple that are surprisingly good. There will be a few videos uploaded soon of matches between me and borawserboxer (the fine Modok gentleman who posted most of the cube combos) and CrouchStrong (Iron Man, Taskmaster, Spencer combo video guy).
Initially I was looking to making a team that would get exponentially stronger in UMVC3 (no DHC glitch, mostly unknown characters that are getting buffed) So I made this
Deadpool Quick work
Chris Guns
Haggar Lariat
It appears to be all kinds of an assy team however Chris guns complement Deadpool in a variety of ways. Fulll screen assist, doesn’t knock down, and allows for full combos if landed on a grounded opponent (the 3 quick work combo on larger characters). The team is alright but it does fall apart rather hard when Deadpool dies, and if the opponent can stay at the top of the screen opposite Chris as he has no methods to approach from there. Otherwise it works extremely well. Haggar in particular goes extremely well with Deadpool thanks to Katanarama OTG leading to easy resets/damage. However that is getting nerfed in UMVC3 so we’ll have to see what true AA assists there are in UMVC3.
A friend recommended replacing Chris with Magneto so I gave it a shot, and with Disruptor assist it leads to a much stronger team (albeit less options off mixup since it knocks down, and you need to be very quick confirming off of a disruptor > teleport > combo). It is one of if not the strongest keepaway team I have been able to come up with (or come across) in practice. Using a mixture of assist, and jump back guns you can make it very difficult for characters with a lot of mobility to get in, and while it doesn’t compete with the trap qualities that Arthur is capable of, it’s stronger in general because of how slippery Deadpool is. Larger characters might not be 100% boned like they are against a proper trap team with Arthur, but they’re pretty done nonetheless.
So I’m going to give this team a try at the next tournament I’ll be attending, We’ll see just how competitively viable it is.
said team in action albeit we were both sucking hard
My new favorite team- Deadpool (Quickwork), Dormammu (Dark Hole), Ironman (Unibeam). Fantastic team. Amazing synergy and chemistry. Can rushdown or zone and switch quickly between each. Can Dhc from back to front in any order without losing any hits. Any character can play the anchor so its not viable for the opponent to Snap in anyone early. Deadpool gets Darkhole and more importantly Unibeam to make his zoning a nightmare for most opponents. Unibeam also allows teleport shenanigans. Goal is to get at least two bars (deadpool is a great battery) and with all the chip/ zoning projectile damage hopefully being being dealt, itll kill most characters off with one combo into cutting time > stalking flare. Why Flare? Between the opponents character dying and new character coming in, It should allow Dormington to charge at least two if not three new spells. Now Dorm can mix up incoming character in sooo many ways. Teleport with unibeam or quickwork allows for front/back/high/low mix ups, very nasty. He also has his spells to fall back on now. Unibeam also usually buys him time to charge a spell. Of course he can always zone as well. Finally ironman can also use dp quickwork for quick airdash high/low unblockables. If he chooses to zone, Dorm’s dark hole combined with either replusor spread or air smartbombs creates a great wall, and he still has has beam as well. Two characters have a teleport and Ironman is quite mobile. Also any assist called is always in peril against this team due to all 3 having fullscreen “beam” hypers that dhc perfectly into each other. Plus this team will only get stronger in Umvc3. Only weakness I see is getting caught in rushdown, but everyone has that weakness unless they are running Tron/Haggar. Thoughts?
The Biggest benefit I see is that if you get Deadpool in somehow (start, or tac combo) You can now access the DHC glitch with both characters (Zero and Task). I would use quick work, as its more reliable for the dhc glitch in regards with taskmaster. You can otg yourself while calling either assist anyways to contine your combo with Zero. I’ve actually been debating running this time for a while.
Hello there gentlemen, been looking for a point character for my storm/amateratsu team and I just recently began considering deadpool for some reason. How do y’all feel about this team? Im thinking I might switch to storm on point and deadpool second since he helps extend storms combos but I was hoping I could get some wisdom from y’all. Thanks.
I wouldn’t use Deadpool on point, but that’s just me. Storm and Ammy both seem like better candidates. You can probably get some significant mileage out of Storm/Ammy/Deadpool since it allows for DHC glitching right away, and Ammy Cold Star and Deadpool’s Quick Work or Katanarama seem like nice assists for either of the other characters.
Unconventional lookin’ team, but it could work. Just play around with the order a bit, see what happens.
It could work, but the overall HP of the team is low, and there’s a distinct lack of defensive options if you happen to encounter an in-your-face type offense.
Depending on your playstyle, a highly offensive strategy could pay off, since both Deadpool and Storm can start the DHC glitch into Ammy. You may have problems consistently building enough meter, however, since all three of your characters are more “meter users” than batteries.
Thanks for the feedback, ill take that into consideration, ill prolly fool around with the team a bit this weekend and see what issues arise. My original point was wesker, but I really don’t enjoy playing that character, so i’ve been searching around for a replacement.
The lamest team I ever came up with deadpool is Deadpool (katanarama) Dorm (dark hole) and doom (missiles). lol
