I’ve been using Deadpool/MODOK/Sentinel and Hulk/Deadpool/Sentinel
That’s the team I use as well. Deadpool and Hulk go together really well. Hulk benefits from an OTG assist so much that it’s almost not worth it to use him without one. Deadpool also has a nice way to escape pressure if he has Hulk’s AA as an assist. The drones also help the both of them to get in and mix people up. They’re also useful in extending combos and setting up resets. All the characters DHC well to each other and Deadpool can start a DHC glitch and both Hulk and Sentinel can end it (Sentinel is significantly more effective in this regard though).
I’ve also used Deadpool/Haggar/Phoenix a few times as a troll team. Works very nicely because it’s essentially the light version of Viscant’s team.
Sentinel can also start DHC glitch, but it’s really impractical.
Who needs a DHC glitch when you have Hulk on your team
Guys, did we just become best friends? I may not have the big robot, but I agree Hulk and Deadpool are a thing of beauty. Instead of Katanarama I go with Quick Work, though, because it really helps set up those brutal Hulk combos. I also like forward Gamma Charge instead of AA because Deadpool can use it in conjunction with teleports to create some cross-up opportunities while also serving as a “get off me”. Wesker is third with the gun just to help Hulk out or kill time while Bruce and Wade heal up.
Lol, I think so! :woot: I actually use Katanarama and Gamma Wave. Wave pushes people back across the screen away from Deadpool while zoning and gives me the sexiest THC in the game with Hulk on point. I don’t have a low assist, but I’ve worked out a few scary mixups to make up for it.
You’ve got two low hitting assists, man those unblockables gotta be terrifying lol. Are you on XBL or PSN? I’d love to [S]steal your tech[/S] play a few matches with you guys if you’re on XBL. GT: RedbeardSenchou
That’s what I like about the Hulk/Deadpool duo. They have insanely good chemistry and depending on your playstyle and your third character, any assist becomes useful (except probably Deadpools gun assist). Gamma Wave is pretty sexy in hiding your mixups in the corner as well. I don’t have a low hitting assist either although I did play around with Quick Work for a while. Because of that I’ve gotten pretty good at using command and air throws for damage.
I’d love to play you all too but sadly I only have a PS3 and I live in Finland so the connection would probably be pretty ass what with all the polar bears chewing on the internet cables.
I also want to say that Readbeard’s avatar is [S]sexiest[/S] manliest there is.
Thanks :D. I lol’d at the polar bears hahaha.
Yeah I get a lot of my damage off of air throws/command grabs with Hulk too. I’ll admit without the AA Charge assist my Pool is more easily opened up by teleports and general pressure, but I feel like that’s something I just need to work on all around. Reaction times and reading mixups is a personal weakness of mine I’d rather correct than cover up.
That’s a good filosofy and I agree with you 100%. I never depend on the AA Charge, it’s just there as an effective defensive/footsie tool. I played my team with Deadpool on point for a really long while and at one point I did start to depend too much on the AA Charge to get out of pressure and that led to a dead Hulk often enough for me to start using it with a little more consideration. I just like it against a lot of rushdown characters who have a relatively easy time getting past Deadpools zoning (Wolverine, Ammy, Mags, Spencer etc.). It doesn’t lead to a lot of damage but it prevents a lot of characters from getting in for free. It’s also nice when people start trying to bait it out or hesitate in general when trying to open me up, offering me a free mixup situation.
Yeah the threat of it alone is really good sometimes. I used to use it exclusively for the same reasons. The big problem I had with it was as you said, Hulk got nailed too often. He’s sooooo open on the way down if the opponent gets a good read. It’s definitely no Double Lariat or Gustaff Fire, but still hella good.
I read that as “steal your teeth”.
But anydangways, I’ve been looking for an alternate anchor for my Deadpool/MODOK/Sentinel team for when I go up against someone like Phoenix or Ammy. I’ve been trying out Akuma, whose assist is really good for Deadpool crossups, and Phoenix works well because Deadpool and MODOK are both great batteries.
I’ve also been trying to figure out what assist to use with Deadpool. Psionic Blaster is a nice beam, Barrier can block their attacks, and balloon bomb stays out for so long and causes knockdown. I think that when i’m using Akuma third, I’ll use Balloon Bomb, because Tatsu should work for the overhead canceled into quick work, as it’s pretty fast. With Sentinel, I’ll do Psi blast because the drones more or less do what Balloon Bomb does.
Thoughts?
How is Ammy-Deadpool-Dante?
Wouldn’t Barrier be a big help with Deadpool’s zoning? I’ve never learned anything real about MODOK, but I feel like I’ve seen the giant barrier being plenty pesky on stream.
Yeah. I just like the balloon bomb because they forget that it’s there and get combo’d for that.
I’ll try the barrier again, though.
Akuma would probably work fine. I just don’t think that you should think about your anchor too much but rather concentrate on keeping your team alive. You don’t want to neuter your team with a suboptimal assist just because he’s a good anchor character. I use Sentinel as the last character because his assist works very well for both Deadpool and Hulk. And when it comes to Phoenix, I don’t think it’s really worth it to try to find a character who beats her the easiest. As someone said in the tier thread a little while ago, against Phoenix you don’t have a matchup, you have a mixup. So that’s what I’d work on for the most part.
I agree with your choices for the assists. I don’t know too much about MODOK but from what I’ve seen and from personal experience, I think the barrier is more of an annoyance than a legitimately good assist. If he had the bigger barrier as an assist, things would be very different though…
I’m not exactly new to the game, but my interest wavered early on, but I’m far more fixated on it now, and really want to do things right.
Deadpool has always probably been my favorite character, though I feel he’s a bit lackluster. I ran him on a few teams, probably my favorite being him, dante and task to hold down a capable zoning team. This time though, rather than go for a good average of point/assist characters, I want to emphasize Deadpool and his ability to go from keepaway/zoning to up close and person within a moment’s notice.
I’m thinking of doing Deadpool/Doom/Akuma with Katana/Missiles/Tastu as assists. Doom from most of the posts I’ve seen and just decent logic in general, seems to go well considering his wonderful coverage of the screen–what I’m worried about is how Akuma fits on the team. He’s great in a pinch from what I see/hear/gather on my own, and his assist gives Deadpool more horizontal coverage as well, for tricky teleports or safe Quickworks etc. But does he really work out with Deadpool, and especially Doom for that matter, and can they really draw out Deadpool’s potential?
Forgive me, I don’t mean to be spoonfed, but I like to go into battle re-assured.
Akuma’s Tatsu assist is, IMO, the best assist in the game. Deadpool also has a great slide, so he can easily confirm off of it. It eats projectiles, so you can approach with it, and it’s fast enough to go for that STUPID overhead + call akuma cancel into L quick work.
I sometimes use him with my Deadpool/MODOK team.
Which is almost all of them.
Well, thanks for reassuring me as far as Deadpool is concerned. But will he work well with Doom, because I want to make sure I cover my bases here.
Not sure how well he works with Doom. His only advancing attack is Foot Dive, and that’s kind of… awkward… to try to combo off of Tatsu with.
His dash canceling his attacks could work, I guess.
I think so, Dooms beam makes Wade’s zoning just nasty. Cutting time goes great into Sphere Flame. Doom jump m combined with quick work assist sets up unblockables as well. Cant go wrong. Add haggar (though i despise him) and every knockdown leads to a combo since they both can otg by themselves. Just a thought. I personally cant decide on a team, but ill be damned if dont try to make wade work
