If you are married to Wesker and Deadpool on your team, then I would strongly suggest a character who has a full screen projectile assist. Hawkeye, Taskmaster, Doom, etc. This assist can help with cross-ups. Specifically, considering the other two characters and the fact that the third character would most likely be playing the role of anchor, I would go Doom or Tasky. Both get strong X-Factor boosts and have mashable hypers to secure chip-deaths.
As far as team order goes, I’m not too confident in knowing who would help who more between DP and Wesker. They both seem to serve similar functions. Both Maximum Wesker and Happy Happy Trigger seem to DHC into each other well. Honestly, as far as I can tell, it’s a coin toss between the order of Wesker/DP. Maybe somebody wiser than I can decide that for you.
Still, I do recommend one of those projectile users for anchor.
you should consider keeping haggar and putting him on point. with deadpool’s quick work assist, haggar gains a quick low assist to compliment the pipe, and haggar can ToD anyone using deadpool in a THC. wesker’s super might ruin that if you have more than 3 meter though, but in that case you could just super with haggar and DHC into deadpool anyway.
I’m currently running Deadpool/Dante/??. Trying to find a suitable anchor, I was running Hawkeye originally, but I didn’t like the fit, he didnt’ feel right on the team. Right now I’m messing with Akuma, but I’m open for suggestions so I can do some playtesting. I’m not a big fan of wesker/sentinel, those are pretty much the only two I don’t want on my team if necessary. I’m open to just about anyone else though.
I am trying figure out if Spencer can be made to work in the second slot with Deadpool. I know that Spencer can make use of Deadpool’s OTG assist but is there any way Deadpool can use Spencer’s assists to extend his combos?

I have been so…in love with this game, but never giving it the attention it deserves. I alternate between all of my newer games that it never gets any time…
Anyways, since I’m getting back into UMvC3, I need team advice. My normal Deadpool team is not really concentrated on him, but it’s team merc; generic Deadpool, Dante, Task (alpha assist x 3).
But I hit a brick wall when facing two particular characters, online and especially off.
Viewtiful Joe, and Doom.
Online is a little bit easier; people don’t use joe as much, and Doom is more predictable, but I play my brother consistently offline and his team is…dirty. Joe, Dorm and Doom kills me.
Are there any characters that would both give me a good anti-air assist, and a better advantage over Joe backed with Doom? It’s nasty stuff, to have a beam cover two voomerangs. Full guns clears out the rangs, but that leaves deadpool without anything, and task’s assist takes too long to actually clear things off.
The problem is that you’re playing too horizontal against Joe+Doom. You shouldn’t be using his ground guns unless he’s in blockstun from an assist or your sure it going to hit, because his ground guns have recovery. Joe can only shoot Voomerangs in one direction(straight), for the most part, since his other ones barely reach far. Doom’s beam also goes in the same direction. Since he isn’t using missiles assist, you should take the air more often. So, taking the air and using Deadpool’s air light guns, your hitting him at an angle where he can’t fire back. What I try to do in the Joe matchup is to super jump forward, but then double jump back to cut my momentum and firing light guns to cover a large area. & once you land, your usually at a frame advantage since your recovery frames are gone once you hit the floor but they’ve just blocked his light guns, meaning you can advance forward with normal jump M-guns+arrows assist into overhead or teleport etc. Deadpool vs Doom matchup I think is in Deadpool’s favor around 7-3. His H-guns hit Doom right out of the air, and his air M-guns keeps his divekicks honest. Plus, if doom shoots ANY kind of projectile on the ground from full screen, if you superjump to the top opposite corner and shoot air L-guns into super, you’ll beat anything he throws. Against Dorm, its a tough fight, just watch those teleports, and make sure you grab him. If he has Doom assist with Dorm, good luck lol, a lot of people are still getting caught by the fish hook. I guess Dante does better against Dorm than Dpool.
Hmm, well I figured as much, but it definitely helps to have someone confirm it. I do try to get a bit more…airborne against Joe, but my brother is really good at preparing for that. I easily hate Joe more than Wesker nowadays.
Now that I’m re-assured I’ll go on and just keep at it, tweak things. I was just wondering if the team itself was just…ill-equipped to handle the threat. I hate the Dante v Joe matchup, but Task does clean up well.
The most recent team I’ve been using (Deadpool, Nova, Doom) seems to be giving pretty interesting results. If you combo with nova into power of the nova force and then DHC to deadpool’s cutting time before the last few hits, deadpool can otg off of the hard knockdown and continue to combo. And deadpool/doom missiles seems to be deadpool’s best team pairing if you’re running him on point from what I’ve experimented with so far. SJC grenade throws become so safe.
Ive main Arthur for a while now i just picked up dead pool and he works perfect on on point with a beam assist backing him up and daggers for teleports.plus arthur with X factor level 3 is amazing.
do it! everyone Dhcs nicely damage is good. if i have 3 meters to burn ill deadppool super>iron man super into arthur to power him up. i love this team the awesome thing about it is how versatile it it. considering some people will snap in arthur. pshhh ok i now have arthur on point with a beam assist and a low hitting assist for unblockables.
also yes daggers is an amazing and highly underrated assist. i rarely ever get him hit when calling Arthur out.
It sucks that Arthur seems to be best on point or on anchor. XF3 + Arthur is pretty godlike, and it makes people scared. Unfortunately, if they upback successfully, you’re pretty screwed.
I’m considering Deadpool / PW / Akuma. I want to have a pocket Spidey team, so I’m contemplating Spidey / Dorm / Pool, my vanilla team.We’ll see what happens
I really like this team configuration. Arrows provide some extra durability to Deadpool’s guns and offer a projectile for L/R mixups. I am not certain if the Arrows are his best assist as opposed to scatter shot for this team. Deadpool’s guns and TP cancelling. The arrows are not nearly as good as a beam for keeping characters locked down for easy conversions.
Vajra is a HUGE boon to Deadpool’s mixups in a similar way they are for many top tier characters. (Wesker, Viper) It offers a ton of mix-ups options and leads to very simple, but damaging combos.
Deadpool + Strider is a great pairing.
I am not certain who fits best in that second position. If my Doom or Modok wasn’t ass, I’d play them in that spot over Hawkeye.
So i’ve been playing deadpool/sent/skrull as of late. deadpool/sent is obvious, but skrull just kinda chills in back til deadpool and sent are dead. I use stone smite because with sent you can call assist, do cr. m and cancel into fly and its an easy hit-confirm into j. s and then combo into an easy 700k. Stone smite doesnt really add to deadpools game, though since he already has a wallbounce. is there any synergy between deadpool and skrull or will skrull be forever alone til deadpool’s dead?
I would think that if you picked Tenderizer, you could lock an opponent down long enough for H/L resets with Mad Wheel. You could also use it as a combo extender.
I think i found the ideal team for Deadpool. Deadpool (Happy Trigger)/ Doctor Doom (Hidden Missiles)/ Amaterasu (Cold Star). I’ve been in the lab for a week straight with this team and it embodies and extends Deadpool’s gameplay. It builds on he keep away capabilities and generates mix up situations that no other two characters can.
Deadpool is gonna be playing keep away for a good majority of the match with doom assist. I like hidden Missiles for Deadpool because it helps out when you are fighting teleport characters since they track and they help you out in zoning if you make a mistake in anyway (throwing a ninja gift). I believe deadpool doesnt need a horizontal neutral assist of any sort due to the fact he can teleport cancel his own guns so I like doom to cover the deadpool’s weak spots, the ceiling and super jumps. Let me clear something up, DO NOT SUPER JUMP WITH GUNS UNLESS YOU HAVE DOOM ASSIST OUT. Deadpool cant block on his way down and people know this so people will try to catch you on the way down, missiles keeps you safe/ creates a bait and tackle situation. Missiles also cover your teleport the best for Deadpool. due to the fact the his teleporter malfunctions every 3 times missiles covers you for the entire duration of the explosion and gives you enough time to forward roll The missiles give you a second chance at opening up your opponent when you shoot them with guns on the ground and teleport cancel. This is a 2 part mix up (4 part if you count the left/right of the teleport) call doom, guns, teleport (in front or behind) go for an overhead or low if blocked/pushblocked teleport (in front or behind) again then go for a high/low again. If you teleport and call Doom at the same time Deadpool has enough time to blow up, get up and still do things while be protected by the missiles, if the enemy makes the mistake of blocking the missiles on the ground there is enough time for Deadpool to roll forward dash and then go for a high low mixup with about 3 missiles left to cover you and make it safe if you go for the overhead (this is sequence is starting from Fullscreen btw).
People argue with me saying that doom beam assist would be better for deadpool because he can teleport willy nilly. Deadpool is a keep away character with rush down abilities not the other way around. Deadpool needs someone to help cover the ceiling of the screen and to help cover his faulty teleport. Plus the missiles create mix up capabilities anyways so it seems irrelevant to have a beam assist for Deadpool.
To be honest what makes this team for Deadpool is the reset with Amaterasu assist. [media=youtube]5qgc5EZdG8E[/media] do this combo but at the end instead of TK super do a katanarama -> chimichangas call Amaterasu assist and do a slide as late as possible but still hits. You have a range of 3 - 6 things depending on screen placement(this reset is extremely potent if you start the combo anywhere from midscreen to the enemies’ corner because no matter which way the opponent techs they cant get out of the reset they have to block properly). What you can do here to mix them up (they should be barely off the ground at this point). you can stay on the same side and go for an air grab if they block, dash under (Deadpool dashes so low he can get under his opponent) and go for a low or an overhead (by the time the active frames for the overhead comes out they should have just touched the ground from Amaterasu’s assist ending), you can teleport to the other side to set up a mind game for later when you teleport to the same side and make them block wrong. Your worst case scenario for this reset is that your opponent blocks and push blocks you, which is fine since Deadpool likes to play the ranged game and you just tagged them for 550k with good screen positioning. I’ll try to make a video about this reset but I don’t have capture gear so it will most likely be filmed on a potato but its better than nothing :).
Anyone else using Deadpool and Unibeam assist have any good resets with it? It seems like it would be good after an OTG L guns to set up some sort of reset, but I got nothing so far.
Iunno, with Doom beam you can OTG to QCB+H, launch, sj.HS, then do air happy-happy trigger but idk if Iron Man’s beam has the same properties as Doom’s.
Also, I’ve been experimenting with Rei-chan’s team (Deadpool-a, Doom-a, Wesker-b) and it feels like Rei-chan made the best Deadpool team possible. Doom’s assist helps deadpool get in… which is what you should be doing with a character who gets easy 700k combos, not zoning for days like most people do. However, the assist helps zoning as well. Also, wesker’s otg assist helps deadpool extend combos for greater amounts of damage. You can get like an extra 80k or something on his bnb.
