I actually like katanarama assist more than quick work because the extra ground is phenomenal for certain characters that I like to play. Just in case someone here has not seen the video the assist allows Chris some nice freedom with his combos.

For my current main team of Deadpool, Taskmaster, Doom, what assists should I use for Deadpool? I usually use quick work for unblockable setups with Tasky. However, my execution leaves something to be desired so it would also be great to extend combos with Katanarama for taskmaster as well.
I’m also planning on making a Deadpool/Morrigan/Doom as well as Deadpool/Hawkeye/Doom team work.
Quickwork Hands Down. with those teams I don’t see any use for the OTG assist. And the guns are meh.
Yeah, Doom has those OTG normals while Task can just do Swing into OTG arrows + QW (another reason why that assist is best in that case).
Guns assist will always be situational.
Yeah… quickwork with Tasky & Doom is hella cheap. I beat flashmetroid with that setup
Im really diggin Deadpool (Quickwork), Trish (Voltage) , Frank (Cart). Unblockable setups up the yang with this team. Its extremely easy to level up frank too. A 3 bar dhc easily hits level 5 if you are feeling lazy, and level 4 with only one partner. However if you land a Happy trigger time in the corrner (which should be your goal) then follow with a Round Harvest and Raw Tag superjump snapshot with frank, you should get a level 5 if you mashed hard enough. If not Very close. Frank Generally moves to point as soon as he levels up with Deadpool and Trish bringing up the rear. I try not to leave frank last (rather sacrifice him if I think I can save another character for level 3 xfactor) but I guess I deserve to lose if I get to that point.
I run Deadpool(B) katana/Dante(a) Jam Session/ Ryu(y)Tatsu. Trying to figure out a good team to have with Deadpool. Anyone’s ideas I am open to as well. I love Deadpool and Dante together. Both DHC well and have zoning strategies that work well together as well as Jam Session is really good and can lock people down . Same wuth Ryu Tatsu. Also both assists lead into combos. Anybody know of an anchor who is kind of bulky like Ryu DHC into both Deadpool and Dante? Other than that I am open to ideas and critiques of any kind involving Deadpool.
Dormammu is a top anchor, and can easily DHC into both. He could also use both assist very effectively
Taskmaster also fits these qualties, albeit a less effective solo anchor. Trade off is a much better assist.
Both are “Bulky” Health wise
Can’t decide on which team to play.
Taskmaster(vert) / Dante(Jam)/ Deadpool(quickwork) this team has a very good mixup, and overheads
or i might try
Spencer(Slant) Deadpool(quickwork) and Dr.Doom(missles) or replace doom with wesker
Please someone help me!
Personally I like the first team better. That’s just because I love dante/deadpool synergy and the fact it’s not doom(I despise him along with wesker). But preferences aside it depends on how much work you want to put into it. Dante is much more difficult than wesker/spencer/doom therefore if you want easy mode go for the doom team, if you want it slightly more difficult in exchange for being quicker, having more tools, being able to confirm off of practically all of his moves, and just being a more fun character then dante. Tasky is on the same level as spencer IMO the only thing that sets spencer a little bit higher is his bionic arm but other than that he has much much better normals than spencer. Plus I think deadpool works better with dante than any of the characters on the second team. My suggestion is team 1. OH! And if you do pick team one, change the vertical arrows on taskys assist to horizonal. Unless you have a unique use for the vertical arrows I think you should use horz. Good luck and let me know if this was useful
After playing some rounds with a friend, I discovered I love the team Deadpool (quick work), Haggar (double lariat), and Arthur (daggers).
The double lariat is good defense for DP, while Arthur’s daggers help DP’s zoning abilities and allow for some cross ups. Cuttin’ Time DHCs nicely into Giant Haggar Press (I just need to find a combo that naturally ends with Cuttin Time to make that useful).
Quick work helps set up Haggar for some hard-to-blockables and may help with some of Haggar’s combo extending, though I need to practice to be sure. Giant Haggar Press DHCs well into Happy Happy Trigger. And daggers clearly helps Haggar with getting in as well as combo extensions, but that doesn’t seem to be necessary information for this page.
Quick work would probably help Arthur, but by the time I call upon Arthur, everybody else is dead.
Any comments/constructive criticisms for this team?
i’m actually considering adding deadpool to my haggar team (+ dr. doom). quick work is one of the absolute best assists for haggar because it is one of the few that easily lets him combo out of command grab/regular grab without using up a ground bounce. just call it slightly before you use down H, then cancel into pipe hit and launch with S. and it hits low, of course.
all this, and haggar can cancel down H into a THC with deadpool, and then get a relaunch as it ends with hoodlum launcher for more damage. done with a third character who’s hyper doesn’t mess up the follow up, like doom lasers, you can one-touch anyone in the game.
so yeah, i think your team looks really solid. i’d rather put haggar on point with your team for the THC combo madness, but then again that’s coming from a haggar player. xP
i have a question though: how good is deadpool as an anchor? is it better to put doom in back?
Thanks for the feedback, Steeler! Next time I play online I will try a few with Haggar on point. I tinkered with Haggar on point with a different team (with Doom and Tasky playing back-up), so trying it again will be familiar territory. I fancy myself a Haggar player, too! I played way too much Final Fight growing up.
I think for me to fully grasp the awesomeness that Quick Work is for Haggar, I’ll have to spend some time in the lab testing things out, but from what you’ve told me, I am excited.
For your question regarding Deadpool on anchor… well I know a lot of people would advise against it, especially if it’s between DP and Doom. As per the guide, DP’s lvl 3 X-Factor boost is 165 percent increase to damage, 135 to speed. For Doom, it’s 170 to strength and 130 to damage. Also, Doom is a bit more self reliant in terms of combos, not to mention that his combos deal more damage in general. And if you need to play a keep away game as the clock is ticking, I feel as though Doom is better equipped to run down the clock. Also, I think Doom’s assists are more helpful for DP than vice versa, but I could be wrong there.
So, I’d go Doom on anchor.
This argument isn’t even close. Doom must be the anchor on that team. Both characters are probably just as good on the anchor slot (Deadpool’s teleport mix ups and Doom’s dash canceling to get through push blocking). However, Deadpool benefits from Doom’s assists WAY more than Doom benefits from quick work. Yes, Doom would get unblockable opportunities, but those are sometimes difficult to set up. On the other hand, Deadpool in conjunction with beam / missiles is way more deadly. With beam, Deadpool can do teleport mixups and it helps him control space. My signature play in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 has been Deadpool with missiles. This is an extremely dominant keep away force that only rivals Morrigan and Hawkeye in that regard. Deadpool with Missiles, I argue is probably an even perphaps favorable match up against Zero! Use Deadpool second on that team. You won’t regret it.
thanks for the tips guys, looking forward to making haggar/deadpool/doom work. >:]
Best of luck! If I was a better Doom I would tempted to use that team myself. Let us know how it goes. : )
Also, as per your advice, I have been playing Haggar on point and doing much better online. Haggar with good assists can be devastatiing (when I am not dropping combos or putting in the wrong inputs, anyway). Thanks for your advice and tricks!
I’m going to be running a Deadpool (Quick Work)/Iron Man (Unibeam) and Rocket Raccoon (Log Trap) team. Would you guys suggest running Deadpool on point or anchor on this team?
Also taking suggestions for other characters you guys would think would work with these two characters(Deadpool + Iron Man), I’ve put the most time into both of them and am still searching for the magic third character.
I would say point if not for the fact that the log trap takes your wall bounce which is important to his combo game. So IMO put him on anchor. Deadpool is one of those characters that doesn’t completely need assists.
Most of what I hear about Deadpool makes me believe he is best on point. Also, since both DP and RR can use IM’s unibeam for potential cross-ups, I would put IM as anchor. Using up a wall bounce with RR’s log trap would be a problem, though. Any chance you can use the spitfire assist instead?
If you are looking for a different third person aside from RR to join your DP/IM team, maybe somebody with a good defensive assist could be of benefit to help DP if things go badly up close. I run Haggar and DP together, and Haggar’s lariat is good for buying a moment. Ghost Rider might also be a good idea with his column of fire assist (I can never remember the name of it). Plus, GR’s jumping S teamed with DP’s quick work assist is a hard to block setup.
I’ve been playing UMVC3 for a while now off and on. I’ve gotten pretty good at it and have been playing since vanilla. In vanilla my old team was Deadpool (B)/Wesker (B)/Hagger (A), wherein I would abuse lariat’s hard knockdown (Deadpool and Wesker can both self-otg) or the DHC glitch with Deadpool’s cuttin’ time.
Now, those days are over, so I’m really looking to replace Haggar with someone. I play on pad, so very technical heavy characters tend to not be my strong suit (Although I’m pretty good with Deadpool for som reason, and he’s also my favorite character by far.) So far I’ve tried:
- Dr. Doom, who seems decent enough with plasma beam
- Frank West, who I’m actually very good with but I can’t find any decent ways to level him up
- Dante, who I’m pretty bad with, but I could -try- to learn to be good with him
- Haggar who I’d place on point, but has no ways of getting in.
I’m also considering Akuma and Hawkeye
Essentially, who should my third be and what should my team order be? Thanks.
