I like that DHC into Devil Trigger tech, sets up a lot of OTG and mix up opportunities
Little confused with that combo. Where’s the rainbow coming from at the top of Sphere Flame? And I thought that just left them up there afterwards, what’s bringing them back down to the ground for OTG? Or have its properties change in UMVC3?
From what it looks like he’s just jumping up and doing instant helm breaker to bring them back down to the ground, then OTG with wesker.
You have to let go as soon as the opponent ground bounces but before vergil hits the ground from what I can tell. A lot of it has to do with how close you are to the opponent when you do SJ M, SJ H, SJ S after Rising Sun. if you just do a strait vertical Super Jump you probably wont be able to do it but if you super jump towards them it works.

Quite honestly I’m not a huge fan or sword loops. I feel like they are meter that could be better spent DHCing into another character. And can be somewhat un-reliable but again that’s just me.
really situational combo extension with dante assist, DT required. probably works with other lockdown assists ie legs/rocks
anything into sword loop (no ground bounces used)>lunar phase>l jcut>lunar phase>call assist>latest 2H>late round trip>M/L jcut>optional 2h>swords>lunar phase>optional, and very finnicky 5s 5h>lunar phase>high time

That’s not the case, even if you have something really damaging to dhc into like sphere flame or gamma crush, because you need a cornered opponent for a proper dhc, which means sacrificed damage for dimension slash. Sword loop on the other side gives you a guaranteed 200+ extra damage for every loop and a midscreen dimension slash at the end, and the last part of the loop when swords have disappeared is free meter which you don’t get if you do bnb into dimension slash xx dhc.
Sword loops definitely give the best dmg for best net meter, especially if you have an otg assist or another assist that helps you setting up swords late in a combo.
this is the exact same thing as ramza’s combo just with some stuff moved around and no swords (which aren’t necessary anyway, but it’s free damage)
I see a lot of combos utilize the Swords and DT. I have one that doesn’t use either and builds atleast one meter. I know the more damaging combos use DT and Swords, but for my team, this combo is used to Level up Frank. I find it difficult to build that extra meter and at the same time using DT so I opt not too.

At around 55 hits I DHC to Frank West and take a photo. Easy Level 4.
I really like this combo, doesn’t use the meter for Swords or DT and it’s perfect for leveling up Frank. NVM I would need an OTG assist. Dante has one but I prefer Jam Session.
So what swords combo are you talking about? Because the razma one I saw did only about 60k more than my combo and he used the extra bar on swords?

I have to say, I really like the look of Acekillah’s Vergil combo. Everyone’s running the Spiral Swords combos now, and frankly, they don’t look as stylish as his variation. I prefer saving the meter for Sword Storm and DT mixups anyways. Great combo Acekillah, have you found any variations that work outside of the corner with almost as much damage?
Also, what other assists would you recommend for OTG besides Wesker’s? Think Ghost Rider/Doctor Doom would work out well?
Thanks. Yea I am working on the mid-screen version right now but I am trying to see if I can up the damage getting 780-820k right now which I guess is acceptable but just making sure. The vid will be up by tonight. As for OTG assist I use X-23 on my main team but Ghost Rider’s hellfire and heartless spire work well but the timing of releasing the round trip is slightly different. I’m pretty sure you could use Doom missiles with something like cr.H, call Doom lunar phase, missiles hit round trip etc.

well for those that prefer sword loops still I’ve made a slight modification to my own to get a nice 980K+ COSTLESS. Start with 1 end with up to almost 1 1/2 depending on how many hits you get with judgement cuts and lunar phases.
It can work anywhere except from corner to corner you get more damage starting from midscreen though.

The hits between the loops should net you back you meter and more by the time you’re planting your opponents face in the ground with that last lunar phase. Slash dimension them as you see fit.

Is this still the solo Vergil BnB? I play Zero/Vergil/Dante (Ryuejin, Rapid Slash, Jam Session) and for now I need a solo combo that does good damage until I can figure out some team specific combos.

I saw Richard Nguyen do this at WNF and it’s great because now I know I can get damage off Helm Breakers without an OTG assist. I’m not a big fan of any of the otg assist chars
