I feel Vega is a very weak character

So it stops charging as soon as you use a normal? I didn’t know that.

I’m quite sure Claw Roll never stops charging even if you use a normal.

I get what you’re saying - I was just practicing it in training mode.

It’s too bad the charge time on claw roll is so lame - that combo could be a real staple but I can’t get it to come out but maybe 50% of the time - and sometimes I get the fucking claw THROW out on accident.

However as I said before I can get out Honda’s j.fierce ->c.mk ->headbutt every single time.

Yeah do NOT let him get you in a corner though, then you’ll see when the match goes in his favor.

i dont know why you have problems with shotos or rog, i own with vega pretty easily i play smart i make sure im at a safe distance from my opponent

How did you get the claw throw out while trying to do a charge move?

Look The longer the jump is longer your charging, so in order to do Vegas J.fiecre,C.mk,roll you have to jump in with vega depper so you having more time to charge,or you could make the combo longer with an attack would give it more time.

Try doing J.fiecre,C.mk,C.mp,Roll(or EX wall dive)

Hell if I know.

One thing I hate about my SE Fightstick is that it’s using the default square gate and there is VERY little room for leeway in going in one of the cardinal directions - I try to move back or forwards and end up doing db or df - I think that fucks up my claw roll a lot of the time.

Do other people get the claw roll out reliably every time? Or even use it?

Sometimes I will link stab chains with light RFC, Or Throw out a heavy to catch people off guard. But NO, I rarely use the move.

I have the same problem where it just doesn’t seem like I have enough charge time. I started fooling with hitting c.MP as late as humanly possible and that seems to work best for me in training, but I don’t get many opportunities to use the combo in a game (usually I’ll have meter and just go for EX Wall Dive) and the few that I do I’m not ready for. I’ll try more next time I play non-online versus.

I think it has to be charge time because if I just crouch next to the training dummy with db and wait a long time, then do the c.mp->lp.claw roll it always comes out properly.

It’s too bad that db -->df doesn’t count as the forward motion needed for a charge move.

I used to use poke-RCF combos to punish stuff in other Street Fighters, but df+RH combos have rendered that basically obsolete.

I actually feel like I’m missing something as a result. I almost never use the roll, and it feels weird, y’know? I feel like there’s got to be a way to make it more useful than it seems.

I feel as if Vega had a bit more priority he’d be a bit higher rated.

Before you guys waste too much time replying to “Merkicus”, I want to mention that he was called out for being kind of a bitch like this on another forum, and someone challenged him to a match with the conditions that the loser had to stop posting. He was beaten in a Vega mirror match by a dude who doesn’t play Vega, and I think that “upper intermediate” took one round out of two BO5 matches.

I’ve improved quite a bit and I learned a lot from that guy - he’s red_venom on youtube if you want to check him out.

At the time of playing him I was something like 800ish bp, now I’m at 3k, which has advanced my game a lot.

TBH, I’m at 3700 BP, and I still think I’m a noob and have alot to learn using Claw.

My max BP is 3200 BP, and i think i’m still pretty terrible. :sweat:

Can’t put in my mind to use more cosmic heel to start combos, sometimes i just smash c.mp like an idiot. Also i still have to learn the range of the various pokes and when to use them, but i’m slowly improving.

Agreed - my throw game is better but I’m still horribly at using throws or teching throws on jumpin - I tend to panic and just start jabbing instead of going for the (obvious) tech throw/throw.

I didn’t really want to derail this thread with a bunch of forum drama but these guys are from SA and part of a little ‘forum clique’ that hangs out on IRC - they’ve been following me around on this site linking that video over and over on multiple - it’s a little obnoxious, but typical of SA goons.

I do the very same thing. I need to use more cosmic heel. I started using level 1 FA’s to counter jump ins and then cosmic heel --> ex wall dive but I rely on c.mp and c.lp quite a bit.

To be fair, I think it’s a lot harder to get to 3k bp with Vega than someone like Sagat/Ryu/Zangief - I’ve seen truly horrible players in the 3k range that get there by noob tactics and eat 5x slide kicks in a row.
