I feel Vega is a very weak character

I haven’t had any success with this at all against meaty shoto jump kicks. I get stuffed when trying to do either of these.

Here’s a video of the kind of jump-in shenanigans that I’m talking about.

I thought we were talking about random idiots online who don’t know how to play.

If the player is good and throws well placed deep crossups and some random jump ins, that’s different.

Notice how tatsu uses his pokes, and once he felt he may be pushed into the corner he walldives out and plays the poke game some more.

Hmm he even lands a rh scarlet terror on a jumpin shocking

when he was in the corner he jabbed to create space then threw.

round 2, shit happens sometimes. He was out played and got unlucky. That ryu is pretty good.

round 3, he got nailed by some combos then that dizzy combo.

Also notice tatsu was trying to create space so he could zone with pokes. ad throws, cosmic heel mixup, focus attack and fadc mixup mind games.

I’m pretty good at blocking jumpins, overheads, crossups. That seems to help me with deep and well zoned jumpins.

Observe the actual flaws?

I’m pretty sure his flaws and advantages have been listed in like 5 threads by now.

No. What you made is a thread just to bitch about how Vega isn’t incredible and has some problems. Why?

It isn’t new information for anyone. It doesn’t help you in any way and it really just makes you look annoying to pretty much everyone.

Do you have legitimate concerns? Yes. But just because they’re legitimate doesn’t mean we don’t already know, we’ve already discussed it, and we’ve already come to conclusions.

Stop making threads like these. If you want to discuss it why can’t you include it in one of the other threads made for discussing vegas moveset/tactics.

He psychic’d a telegraphed jump-in and managed to hit it - he only does it once throughout the entire 3 rounds.

I don’t know why you’re being so snarky about this.

They’re both good.

I disagree that he just got ‘unlucky’ in round 2 - he got cornered and when you have Vega in the corner you can do anything you want to him because he has nothing to get out of the corner. This is another common theme with low tier characters in general, I find.

What would you have done? A good player will punish your flips with a flurry of offense - ST is out of the question because it’s low priority, roll or ex roll is out of the question (needs no explanation), wall dives have no armor and get stuffed, wall jump will eat a shoryuken or jump-in.

Getting out of the corner can be tough, i’m not going to disagree with that. I don’t really disagree with anything you said very much but come onnnnnn do we need this again?

I think I understand why the general response to this thread has been negative - sorry y’all. I’d delete it if I could.

Most of the stuff myself and other players have mentioned in this thread have been said over and over in other threads.

Watch more claw videos and keep playing. You will figure things out.

You haven’t been a jack ass so it isn’t terrible. I think people are just tired of hopping on to see some new discussion in the Vega forum and instead seeing the same old complaints over and over.

It gets frustrating because a lot of us feel like we have to say SOMETHING in response but also feel its a waste of time.

What you’ve said is not just “Vega sucks”. You gave reasons and they’ve been discussed so it isn’t terrible. Just next time you think of something that is a real problem, why not throw it into a discussion in progress? That way we can keep things together and (if the OP is a good one) maybe they’ll edit their first post and add that information so we can keep everything nice, orderly and easy to navigate.

There is no doubt playing with vega can be rough at times and frustrating. Just realize everyone on this forum knows that already because we all use him and understand.

If he isn’t the char for you, no problem. Don’t force yourself to like a character you don’t feel strong with. Just poke around and try out each character for a few days and one of them WILL resonate with you and you won’t feel so underpowered (even if they’re considered low tier).

Vega weak ?
Im a fairly good player 75% win ratio n countin after 500 or so fights. I gotta say, good vega players get me from punish and/or anticipating attacks. Toe to toe i’d mash any Vega player, down to the way he works being fairly poor but if he sits in a corner and the Vega player knows his enemies character well, he can figure out their options and counter.

If your on 360 add “a big irish man” he’s the best vega player i’ve seen and he fed me my own boxing gloves.

Tough to beat a good boxer with claw thats for sure. I play Rog also :stuck_out_tongue:

Maybe the people I’m playing against aren’t good, but rog feels like one of the easier matchups. If you stay in mid-range, you can stuff basically everything he has.

This has honestly been my experience as well.

I’ll have to mess with it. I’ve only played one good rog player. So, I’m not so sure to fighting him. Need to figure that fight out.

If you stay mid range to rog, and just abuse sHK, you’ll stuff all of his punches. If they do EX, the 2nd hit of the kick will get them. It’s fool-proof.

Standing RH for the win.

I’ve been using it as a SA break also…but only sometimes.

Standing RH is good, but removal of cr. hp as AA hurts bad.

Claw Roll needs shorter startup, flipkick higher priority + startup, Piece of Mercury being an actual overhead, and I can see Claw being a very solid character.

Right now he dies hilariously fast against jump-ins and especially the corner.

Agreed on all points - I’d also like it if his claw/mask didn’t constantly drop. Like someone else said on the patch thread over in general discussion, it was cool in the SNES days but now it’s unnecessary.

Also I have major problems executing the claw roll for some reason yet I can do blanka rolls and honda headbutts just fine - I don’t know what the deal is :frowning:

The charge time is apparently longer on it I believe. Just hold it longer than you feel you should and see if it comes out. The timing is strange. I’m guessing they didn’t want it to fast for balancing purposes but really I have no idea.

It makes the j.fierce -> c.strong ->j.roll pretty tough to pull off I find because you have to immediately jerk that stick to the down back position - I can’t even pull it off in training mode except about 75% of the time :frowning:

If I didn’t have so many problems getting it to come out I think I would use it a lot more - at least the jab version.

The roll is the one thing I don’t ever see any Vega players use in videos or online play.

You got use the J.Fierce almost as soon as you hit the ground.
