EXACTLY. Vega needs something and I think this is it. It would also help his Blanka matchup abit. It would be alot easier to stop balls.
He definately needs more health and stun too. If he’s going to have stupid recovery on EVERYTHING then he needs to survive being punished.
If wolverine can do Tornado claw, Vega should be able to do it too. Wake up Tornado Claw…yeahh…
He needs some kind of dive forward move where he extends his body and hits the opponent with his claw (comes out quickly, overhead, and can be linked into cr.lp)
After all the months with Vega, I’m really start to think he’s garbage. He’s even worse than Sean imo. Sean could at least hit hard when he was close, but Vega doesn’t even do that.
There is nothing you can do against a Sagat permanently cr.mp -> kneeing you. His AA’s are all garbage (Air-to-air included) and ridiculously hard to do on reaction and especially when you’re doing another move, it’s impossible. If you can use them pretty well, however, the opponent is going to start jumping attacking early AND getting closer on the reset, where Vega’s death is near.
His pokes can simply get countered by almost everything. Even if you put a lot of effort into your whole match, you can lose in an instant. All of his blockstings can be mashed out with SRKs.
The fact he has no reversals himself and the fact that he’s very vulnerable to Reversals is another argument for him being shitty. Do you know what that means? He’s basically useless against characters with good reversals, and can only stand against characters who don’t have them - however most of those are really rushdown characters, which he is also pretty weak against.
Almost all of his moves are gimmicks, including specials. For example, the df.rh moves basically gets useless against a good opponent.
I think Vegas only advantage is the fact that people don’t know him. Once they get to know him, it’s almost impossible for Vega to win.

I’ve dropped Vega, but I still think he’s alright. He’s got the moves. In the right hands he can be unpredictable and pretty scary.
He might not be as fast as before, but he’s still decently fast.
The moment someone masters his Izuna drop to land it 70% or more of the time, he’s top tier.
I think in SF4 Dash, alittle more priority and alittle more speed could make all the difference.

Yeah he is pretty weak, either that or ppl don’t play him the way he was made. He is mostly a run away character, which is cool and all except for the fact that it’s so easy to catch people in this game and take away half their life with one combo. Hopefully if they do make the 2nd version theyll make him a little better. Some combo’s into his ultra/super, more priority, maybe a cross up attack and overhead. Maybe even change his ultra or super to something like one of his in SNKvsC2 Izuna drop def is his strongest move, if someone can master it u will be crossing up and grabbing ppl out of everything.
after months of strong tourney competition and placing top 8 with vega consistantly, i still have to conclude that vega is garbage. fukk all that “hes good in the right hands” shit. he has no tools, no priority and no options. shit his anti air doesnt even anti air. time to find a new main >:^/

I’m actually doing really well with Vega at the moment, I was only beaten in two single games with him in championship yesterday. Still, he needs a major facelift in any new iteration of this title. I’ve even started using Gouken on my
PS3 account to give myself some more options…

Vega’s low tier for a reason. He’s not that hot. I love his character and I find playing as him really fun, but the second I come up against someone who’s just as good or a little better than me, I know I’ve got a long, hard fight on my hands that I probably won’t win. It’d be awesome if he was improved in the next version, because he really, really needs it.
EDIT: Sasaki also makes a really good point - I’m pretty sure most of my wins with Vega come from the fact that people rarely play against him, and don’t know how to react. Half the time I just get lucky and have Ryu No.258 fireball when I’m sitting with full ultra.

Well, I’ve actually got it to work about 50-60% of the time, and I’d rarely lose fights, even against good players (I can tell the good from the bad. I’m not a scrub, you’ll have to take my word on that).
I’ve grabbed out of shoryus, jabs, jump up attacks, crouchers, Blankas’ electricity (!!), and I’ve grabbed up to 5 times in a row, without fail. If you’re REALLY good at landing the Izuna drop, once you get a knockdown, you can cause some serious damage with well timed drops, and they likely won’t know how to deal with it.
Unless they have a teleport/roll, then you can semi-lock someone down with Izuna drops on wakeup. You just have to have good timing.

Vega is a shitty character fact. He is the lowest tier in the arcade version fact. He can’t combo into his ultra fact. He has no invincibility frames fact. He can get grabed easily out of one of his best moves cr. mp fact. The izuna drop when they are not in the air takes a lot of practice to land and still isn’t 100% reliable fact. Yet… everyone knows all of this. Stating it and crying about it helps who? Thinking of giving up on vega because you are a truly competitive player and you don’t care that you have more fun playing him than any other character that’s fine as well; I wish you the best of luck with your Boxer’s, Rufus’s, Ryu’s, Sagat’s, Akuma’s and any other high tier character you choose to play.
Nisepachi and a few japanese vega’s even beat a Daigo ryu a match or two. You got an uphill battle with Vega yes. But the tiers in this game are not even close to as retarded as the ones in MvsC2.
I will never give up on Vega the reason i play him is because he is a fun character, it makes it more fun that he is under powered in my opinion. When you win with a character that is suppose to lose you feel like this :smokin:.
Nisepachi never played against Daigo, and never won. Not even Rikiyoshi won. If Daigo would have played 10 matches against him, he would have understood the matchup and from then on he would have stomped his Vega every time, not even letting him take rounds.
And, like I said, those videos you’re seeing are not lopsided on purpose. Gamechariot only uploads matches that are fun to watch, they don’t post matches where someone is getting dominated.
And once you’ll start playing some really good people, you will back off on that opinion 
Haven’t you heard Mago? He said he almost doesn’t know any Vega at his arcade, and that’s probably also the reason he nearly lost to Genius. He didn’t know shit about Vega, and that’s the only true advantage I think Vega has. Once your opponent gets the chance to get to know Vega better you’re gonna lose.
Oh no, I didn’t mean about being able to land it - should have been clearer. I mean the part about him becoming top tier. Yeah, you’ve got the Drop down, but what do you do when people are hitting you out of your FBA because they see it coming and you’re relying on the Drop to get your damage in? My point still stands you can’t pick Gambit in MvsC2 and beat magneto. He picked Vega and beat Ryu. Lowest tier to second highest. Would never happen in other games.
