The walking up and throwing me on wakeup was pretty humiliating - I’m usually prepping a reversal move on wakeup and I’m pretty sure grabs will pull me clean out of jab headbutt - I’ve seen it happen more than once.
I don’t have a clue how the pro’s tech throws so reliably - people who are good at tick throwing do it pretty randomly and it seems so difficult to predict.

While crouching, press lp+lk. If you get grabbed, you’ll tech. If you don’t get grabbed, then you’ll throw out a fast poke that’ll probably be safe.
I used to think so, but get some practice in landing the Izuna drop and you’ll see why there should be some balancing factor.
You need to develop a method for landing it too, something to help your timing. I’ve seen some people do the walljump, and stick to the wall for a second or so, then suddenly steer at the opponent to nail them with an Izuna drop.
What I do is I ‘wiggle’ atop my opponent for a very brief moment, then grab. Usually works, 150 damage. They’ll soon stop trying to FA it when they eat 300 damage because you dropped them twice in a row.
Dude, don’t say it’s too strict. Just practice it regardless of what you think of it. If you want to play as Vega you need to at least get this thing to land 50% of the time.
I don’t follow up with my walldives like i did in that match. The lag would take my one “front” input as me holding it.
I was even left continually walking sometimes, when I really just tapped front once. Let’s do a session again when you’re not torrenting. =P
When I see any high level Vega consistently land Izuna drop in a real match I’ll believe this - other than that it’s a training mode pipe dream that never happens reliably in a match
well for me i play pretty much only online…and imo if ther is the slightest notion of lag the izuna drop is totaly unreliable! i would agree that if you are not playing online it is a good tool to try and master…after some practice i found i could land it about 80% of the time on a moving target offline…but online its just a joke
Ive been thinking about this. When game first came out i wanted the parry system of ST 3. Now after months of playing, evaluating, and theory crafting. I personally belive the parry system would fuck Vega even more than the FA. If you think about it would suck. Say Ryu vs Vega. Vega wall dives then Ryu parries, then what you eat a 300+ combo. What do you guys think.
By the way this is how I would change Vega(Seeing as to this thread I feel Vega is weak, how would change him idea doesnt sound bad). Change SHC into a Armor Break, give scarlet terror invisibility only on startup, and the one of the following either give him the ability to combo his ultra after a Scarlett Terror or make his ultra do 600 damage if you cant combo into it. What do you guys think.
I find it fairly doable online, as long as the lag isn’t too extreme (I tend only to play 3 bars and up, though of course that’s not really a reliable measure of what the match is gonna end up like). Definitely easier on some characters than others, of course.
My biggest problem with Izuna isn’t really that it’s hard to do, it’s that fucking up leaves you in a terrible position. If you do it too early and get your claw blocked, you’re screwed. If you do it too late and land without attacking, you’re … also screwed. If at least Vega could land an empty wall-dive with only minor recovery (like Bison’s empty Devil’s Reverse) to set up a throw or whatever, life would be so much easier…
… and he desperately needs some sort of mix-up tool. Taking back a lead with Vega is pure frustration. After all these months, that’s my biggest beef with the character design, really. He’s ok if people have to attack him, but turtles are brutal.
I too believe invincible startup on Scarlet Terror ALONE would make him a MUCH better character. Honestly, that’s all I really want. Anything more would be spoiling me. =P
all these changes would be nice but if they did happen then way more ppl would use him! and i just wouldent want that lol… and none of the changes are likely to happen anytime soon, maybe next street fighter the gods will smile upon vega a little more
