The brackets were already separated by zip code but by the time one gets to top 8, fighting someone you know is inevitable. Jwong/Floe/Noel Brown(?) was just deliberately altering the bracket to make it work in their favor.

If your friend wasn’t ok though the DQ would’ve happened. Just gotta speak up and not be passive. As for TO’s being in tourneys, a lot of the time the TO’s are players themselves and after all the work they do they at the very least deserve the same chance to play as everyone else. Just make sure brackets are public so no one calls fowl.
I can assure you that Winter Brawl was NOT rigged at any point. Only had to change a couple cause of the Double Jeopardy.

You’re going to see a lot less tournies if you don’t want people playing in the tournaments they run. Running tournaments (especially a major) is a thankless, shitty job.
As a community, shit like this has to be sniffed out and dealt with as soon as it happens.
I know this isn’t anything new, but if some of this stuff has happened to you, the last I’d be doing is let this stuff slide by with a “oh well, i’m still in right?”. I’m sure as hell not going to be waiting for almost an hour or 2 for a match because their popularity exceeds my tournament match.
The top 8 bit is just fucked up. Even more for the fact it was caught on stream. No one, including Justin, should have that much clout to say “I don’t want to fight [insert friend]. Can you switch me please?” and have it approved.

At first it seems they were going to let it rock as Mike Ross says it in the stream but later you find out they changed it.

Aren’t you expecting a little too much out of the participants? Obviously the other person rarely will go “Yeah DQ that ass” because it’s thought of as rude and an attempt at avoiding the challenge. Why even HAVE THE RULE if you allow someone to violate it? A disqualification for being late should be a hard rule unless some extenuating circumstances are given. Being late is generally inexcusable.
It just feels very club housey to have a rule like that and litter it with caveats. If you don’t have the common courtesy to be somewhere on time then you probably don’t deserve to be there at all.

Let them play but put more people to watch them. Pick honest people and maybe even pay them for doing this job. As a player I’d be willing to pay a bit bigger entry fee to avoid shit like this.

I agree if winners’ finals is 3/5, you should expect losers’ to be 3/5, and if it wasn’t, I’d ask the TO about it too. What I thought was bullshit was the way that Justin basically stepped aside and let you into grand finals. Whether or not that was 100% on Justin or you guys talked about it beforehand, I don’t know, but if there was no collusion, I would be very salty about the situation if I were you.
