I guess because I’m so accustomed to running away and trying to zone I don’t really think about stuff like corner grab setups and OSing with jump forward heavy, definitely going to now. How safe am I if Nova just blocks it though?
If he blocks the h you should still be falling with a J.IP + a ground impact palm + coldstar
You could just be keeping people in massive blockstun honestly with both X-23 & Dr Strange using coldstar and the chip would be pretty damn significant. Sometimes keeping people in blockstun for extended periods of time makes them open themselves up without you doing anythinglol
So with my Strange/Cold Star blockstrings should my goal be to always make sure they have to block Cold Star? I’ve got a string that can cross them up and actually hit them with it, but you can superjump out of it so I haven’t really used it much. I just figured I wasn’t making it tight enough, or too tight in the cases where they can’t move at all and get to autoblock.
Another match from the same tournament, did much worse in that one. Strange comes out 0:40 and 1:40 but honestly guys I don’t get to play him at all. I was stuck blocking mixups (From my own character) the whole time and just couldn’t get out. What do I do in that kind of situation?
This is possibly the worst advice ever, but sometimes people just aren’t ready for a Yolo spell of vishanti.
It was kinda tight there, as neck slice chargup could go into rage trigger and falling claw was quick and hard to react to. So, this is more general. That match, godlike reflexes would be my suggestion. Or, alternatively, Yolo.
I’m an anchor strange, so if they give me any space but not enough to setup regular zoning, I’ll pop vishanti, xf, and setup teleport mixups under cover of book.
It’s more of an anchor thing I’m saying, but sometimes you just need a little space, and if you get a second after incoming to breathe before the spell Ammy can keep you safe on Dhc.
What I usually do in that situation is find a hole to super jump, then fly away or use Y Grace of Hoggoth > Flames of The Faltine > Teleport, usually M teleport since you want to get away from the corner. This last one setups a safe teleport. If you opponent reacts to the SJ beware of air throws, that’s why these setups are risky against characters like Magneto, who can both grab you or combo in the air.
against characters with pure grounded mobility like wesker, jill, x-23, etc use cr.H > mystic sword M. Its unsafe against Vergil/Dante though. And dont forget the power of IP/cr.M and raggador
all you have to do with strange/ammy when strange come in is survive until the ammy assist is available again
again, i didnt see any ammy coldstar assist call, its like you dont have a button for calling ammy lol
it has two hitboxes that count as two hits, one of the hitboxes has fixed hitstun and the other one drop your combo if the second hitbox doesnt connect at once. H sword never drop the fixed hitstun for me so always go for that instead of the M version
Hey I don’t post here much but I figured I would post a video from our last ranbat. I play some casuals and a few other matches earlier, but ill post a link to winners and grand finals. twitch.tv/kocast/b/377131668?t=122m40s Is winners finals twitch.tv/kocast/b/377131668?t=151m40s is grand finals.
Sorry for twitch links but its what I have.
Damn, your Strange is really good, you just got scrubbed out by Nova:(
I guess you can wait a bit and jump back to counter air throw him, since that guy isn’t even mixing his air dash pattern up. If he techs just come down with a button and cold star to stop him going nuts.
That mid-screen FOF combo was nice though, I can only do it in the corner:(
I put a lot of work on my Strange too, but he is just too god damn slow and ass. The top tiers with fast buttons are so hard to deal with, since fucking light Mystic sword doesn’t hit where it supposed to, can be crouched and is too slow. Don’t know why the guide listed it as 0 on block, because I get punished a lot even if people block it on the ground.
For strings, Mystic Sword L is 0 on block if they block all the hits, but at certain distances or against low crouchers, it whiffs the last one or two hits, not sure, but that’s when its unsafe. Really good on big dudes, but I’d be cautious against morrigan.
Mystic sword M, despite being quite quite minus, pushes away and is pretty good midscreen for safety. Though I have not tested on the people who can punish from a distance quickly. Nemesis s.S, Felicia st.L, Hawkeye slide, Wesker and Taskmaster cr.M’s, not sure what else is sketchy territory. Maybe Vergil?
This may need testing. I would do so right now, but Playstation All Stars got new characters, and I want to learn how to kill them with Ratchet.
Flight and unflight/buttons, also safe after certain buttons, but I never checked to see which, someone help me out on that? I think it was earlier on this thread, but I must be blind, because I can’t find it.
Have anyone tried playing Strange/Strider? I feel like its a shitty version of Vergil/Strider, trading godlike buttons and retarded-ly easy conversion for potential to kill of every hit
I think it would be godly if Strange cr.l actually does something or he could do better mix-up with the hard knockdown than EOA or daggers teleport. But you do get a free kill if you have xfactor, so its great for gaining momentum and going one character up.
No… use Yellow graces with Vajra. It’s pretty easy. It sets up a mixup if they block it too. You have to be proactive with glyph placement but it’s very dangerous for the opponent.
I don’t get it. So when do you place the grace and fire the flame? I am guessing you place a yellow, call Strider and fire the flame, teleport afterwards?
