STRANGE TOP 1 FOR REALS?!
Yeah months ago I was like Strange is shit, worst char in the game, etc.
Now I 'm like OMG STRANGE IS SO GDLK WHEN YOU KNOW HOW TO PLAY HIM
He actually saves my entire team.
I’d put him at top15. Debatable contender for a bottom top10 spot.
VASaga thinks he’s Zero without a sword and with a mustache. Or maybe even higher than that #Kappa
I’m doing Zero-b/Strange-y/Dante-a right now. I suddenly realized just how good Zero is with Bolts. I mean people always say he is, but I never figured out how until recently.<div><br></div><div>Jam Session is good for Strange too, just to buy time and confirm hits. You can also combo after SoV with Jam Session, which is nice.</div>

Damn, I’m struggling to find a way to flame-loop from a Magneto combo. Only way to do it so far is spending two meters, and that is not good…<div><br></div><div>Is there any way to do hard-tag combos with Magnus? If someone here knows, please help me :(</div>
What does a strange (pariticularly one backed up by an assist like Jam Session) do in the neutral game? I find myself doing relatively well just sticking to the basics but I feel like I could be doing more, I also frequently feel awkward. Also, what does point strange accel at? What are his good matchups? Thank you to anyone who answers even one of my questions

Depends on the matchup. Against grounded characters you can kind of be a bully with assists and mystic sword M and bait them into blocking so you can eventually mix them up with your assist and a teleport. Against projectile characters, get them to stfu with mystic sword M or go for a straight punish with H teleport and hit them when they try to do a horizontal projectile attack. Against normal jump characters, you get kinda fucked over unless you abuse your Jam Session or make use of some advanced tactics, like specific grace formations or normal jump height eye of agamotto. Against super jump height characters, abuse the fuck outta spell of vishanti and use Jam Session liberally. DHC to Devil Trigger to get a combo after it if you need. Against fast rushdowners, you have to call all your shots and cover any misses with super cancels or assist calls. Your normals beat out everyone’s, they’re just unsafe. So outpoke with mystic sword L and st.M. cr,M for anti air. Use Illusion if you’re super godlike and dash cancel it to get combos.<div><br></div><div>In general, use Jam Session to buy time to set up shop. Deploy whatever the matchup calls for and use it to press your advantage.</div><div><br></div><div>Also, while I’m here, fun to note that TK Daggers recover faster than the grounded versions.</div>
Thanks a bunch, humorously enough I just finished watching your video vs a Skrull/Spencer/RR. I loved it man and the commentary was entertaining. You should definatelly post more longer sets like that, particularly using your strange brov.
Actually, call Jam Session then Teleport is one of the most retarded mixups in the game. Yeah the scaling sucks, but if you get to the corner you might even FoF enough bar for level 3 and get the kill anyway.<div><br></div><div>Really, I can’t stretch enough how gdlk is mixup teleport with Jam session. Convert with simple jump loop or some of Mazio shanenigans for higher hits.</div>
Entered a tournament with my scrubby Strange over the last week, I didn’t do so well but I’m hoping I kept him alive long enough to get some advice on how to do better. I get to use him at 2m37s, 4m18s, and 6m29s, not counting the times I got blown up by incoming mixups and lost him immediately.
Duuuude, you had Nova in the crumple :’(
Anyways, the last conversion from the THC into a mid-screen loop was VERY good. As for the first crumple, I’d say always wait for them to lie down. Some characters cannot even be hit before that, like Hulk or Sent. By default, just let them fall down before the flame.
Also, against Nova you want to jump-back poking with the palm every time he comes derpy at you with the dolphin kick. That way you can stuff his attempts every single time ;D
Class, those were some nice matches. Your execution with Strange is something I envy. I honestly felt you were the stronger player, but nova was just being hightier at you. You are not a scrubby strange. If you are, I have no idea what that makes me.
For Strange, this isn’t as much advice as a question, does mystic sword L or cr.M anti-air the dolphin kick, or is it just air-to-airs that do it?
Strangely enough, one thing Laura could’ve done there against Nova/Bolts is probably raw rage trigger. She’s too short to be locked down by bolts, and he called strange when he was rather close. If nothing else it would seriously dent the assist, and popping xf may just be the doublekill you need. There were probably like 2-3 times at around 5 minutes in. A gamble, but yeah.
Thanks guys, execution’s something I’ve put a LOT of time in with Strange, I just feel like I don’t go a good job at getting openings to use it. Also how do you guys judge where you are in the training stage for the midscreen loop? I know in my conversion I should’ve known better since I was already near the corner, but if I had landed that in the middle of the stage, how would I judge how many to do before going into the corner loop?
And I didn’t even think of that Duke, that probably would’ve been a really good option. Nova was giving my X-23 all kinds of trouble but I could’ve made it easier if I had given him a reason to fear Rage Trigger. I was also thinking in a few situations with Strange I could busted Seven Rings to nail Bolts assist and Nova’s box dash.
how did you even lose that final game with amaterasu >_> should have used the infinite for the time XF was going to last, i think it was enough to kill Strange or to leave him about to die without expending meter. If anything the other Strange was the scrubby, doing jump > SOV when cornered lol you let him escape way too many times
your strange is not bad at all, it must be tourney nerves
i dont know how x-23 works with those assists, but in those fights you never called coldstar when she got close, i also play Strange/Ammy and barely use dr strange bolts when im close, always go for coldstar
I choked when I grabbed him and saw the X-Factor was running out, I didn’t have enough for the infinite, but what I could’ve done was weapon switch into Swords and do Lightning Edge four times to build the meter for level 3 and end it there. Hindsight’s a bitch
I actually think these are the best possible assists for X-23. I’ve been in a lifelong character crisis with her and these are the only two assists in the game that give me absolutely everything I think she needs. I’ll remember that about Cold Star, I definitely don’t call it too often. What do you think I could’ve done on incoming against his Vergil? All I really know how to do is set up an Eye and hope it buys me enough time to set something up.
Actually jump back palm is a terrible idea cause a boxdash will be covered by an assist and get Strange bopped.
What is really useful is Jump Up Forward H ~ J.IP.
Its a double option select as well as a hitconfirm vs boxdashers like Nova Trish etc…
You come upforward at angle that completely snuffs Novas J.H or techs his throw os or confirms into J.IP to follow up into a combo.
You could also do J.FOF to avoid assists while cutting off his boxdash approach. Standing daggers L also cut off
Nova boxdashes as well as sword h.
you can use EOA then crouch right next to the corner to land a crossup-fake crossup; also, put a grace M and go for corner grabs, you can otg with flame and kill with fof loops from grabs/airgrabs if you have a grace M out in the corner
